VETERANS NEWS A Veterans Day tribute with full honors was conducted by the officers of the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial Park on 10 November; (a heavy rain forecast for 11/11 caused tribute to be held on 10 November). Your Aerie had a very successful Veterans Day Luncheon in the Social room on November 11th. I want to thank Brothers Dave Steadman and Dwight Kane who paid for the cake and pizza. Also a BIG THANKS to Karen Norris, Dot Pearson, Crystal Rowe and those who brought a cover dish and those who helped cleaning up. Brother Bob Freitag tried to reenact the Veterans tribute held on the 10th at the Aerie luncheon on the 11th, however technical difficulties were encountered with Bob’s sound system, as well sound on the big screen TV. While members enjoyed the served food, laughter could be heard which was caused by Bob’s numerous personal comments on why the sound system continually failed. Bob tried numerous unsuccessful work-a-rounds that got him one BIG BLACK ‘X’ in his copybook. Who says Teachers don’t get Black X’s??? The Aerie players (Brothers Wheelock, Epstein, Singleton and Bob) did a great job in reading the Veterans Day tribute and honors script and all stood tall at the successful playing of our National Anthem. As per HRCVO bylaw there is no council meeting in December. The next meeting will take place January 25, 2021. Please keep in mind that Aerie 3204 is the Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony and Luncheon Co-Sponsor for 2021. More information on this subject will appear in the January newsletter. December important dates that may affect Veterans and others in Aerie: 12/7: Pearl Harbor - Remembrance Day12/8: U.S. declares war on Japan (1941)12/11: U.S. declares war on Germany (1941)12/12: Army Navy Game 3 PM (CBS)12/15: Bill of Rights Day12/21: First Day of Winter12/25: Christmas Day12/31: New Year’s EveBe sure to check the enclosed newsletter calendar for more important days in December. Questions concerning the above can be directed to Bob Freitag (497-3336), Aerie 3204 Veterans Day Chairperson.

With the holidays approaching, please remember to donate.

Ladies Auxiliary Ways & Means Committee The Ladies Auxiliary Ways and Means (W&M) Committee exists for the good of the auxiliary and, along with the Charities, raises funds to offset the costs of its operating expenses. The W&M Committee has scheduled monthly themed dinners (which include charity fundraiser, games, prizes and basket raffles) for the rest of the fraternal year (please see flyer for December in this newsletter). If you would like to volunteer for these events, we are looking for ladies who like to cook, emcee, serve, decorate, cashier and help clean up. We thank you for even considering helping out. Points of contact are Debbie Hall (Chairperson) – (757) 407-4989, Regina Ruark (757) 615- 5682 and Maria Hunger (757) 642-4725.

COVID19 UPDATE from AERIE TRUSTEES Restrictions UpdateBrothers and sisters, after carefully reviewing the amended executive order 67 from the governor’s office we have implemented these guidelines. As we fall under the section of private club we do not have to cease alcohol sales at 10:00pm. We will remain with our standard operating hours and current social distancing practice. Our club capacity has been reduced to 30% which puts us to a limit of 30 persons in the social room. As the tides change we will keep updating everyone of new guidelines and regulations. We are doing all we can to keep our Aerie home clean, safe and welcoming. Thank you for your support during these difficult days.
