PSATs

PSAT (Practice SAT), Oct. 17, 2020

For WDHS Juniors and Invited Seniors Only

Page 3: EAGLE NEWS...EAGLE NEWS October 9, 2020 NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL As we move closer to our "ROAD BACK TO WDHS," we want to continue with many of our yearly traditions. On Friday, October

The Practice SAT (PSAT) will be given on Saturday, October 17, at WDHS. Seats are limited due to social distancing guidelines and are available on a first-come, first-served basis until we reach our maximum capacity. WDHS will pay the Collegeboard's test fee for each student. The PSAT is NOT a requirement in the college admission process. It is simply a practice test that can give students an idea of their strengths and weaknesses and how their skills may translate to an official SAT test. Many colleges and universities are no longer requiring SAT (or ACT) test scores. You may find more info at https://www.fairtest.org/university/optional.

IMPORTANT INFO:

• Students must arrive by 7:30 am and stay until testing for the entire group is completed, approximately 12:30 pm.

• Students must have their temperature taken before admittance, and students with a temperature above 100.4 will not be admitted.

• Students must wear a mask the entire time they are in the building, including during testing.

• Masks will not be provided, and students without masks will not be admitted.

• Students may not bring any food to eat, due to having to wear masks the entire time.

• Students may bring water and keep it in the hallway to have a quick drink on breaks.

• Students must bring pencils and a calculator on the day of testing.

• Calculators are NOT provided by the school.

• There are no make-ups for this test date. However, if a student feels sick or has a fever, he/she must stay home. Please call the guidance department to report their absence.

• Students who reserve a seat but do not attend may be responsible to refund the school the $17.00 test fee unless they report an illness or documentation of serious emergency to the Guid. Dept. at the above number on the morning of testing.

OPERATION BLESSING

Dear West Deptford School Community, The West Deptford High School National Honor Society is sponsoring Operation Blessing this year but with some changes due to the required social distancing measures currently in place. Operation Blessing is a district and community-wide initiative that provides Christmas assistance to over 100 West Deptford school district families in need. The WDHS NHS hosts operation Blessing, but it would be impossible without the support from WD schools and the entire community. NHS is looking for families, neighbors, groups of friends, and businesses willing to adopt 1 or more families. We will provide a wish list of items as suggestions for purchase. We hope that each adopter can provide each family with toys for the children ($20-$25 gift card for teenage students,) a warm blanket, warm winter items, and some new articles of clothing (especially coats, shoes, and underwear). If you are not interested in adopting a family, monetary donations are always appreciated and can be made payable to WDHS. All donations will be collected until December 4. Every year, Operation Blessing is an excellent opportunity for the entire WD community to come together in the spirit of compassion and generosity. For many families, the efforts of Operation Blessing are the only way that they can celebrate the holidays with enough food and gifts for their children. Please take some time from your holiday season to help provide for those in need from our community. Any donation is greatly appreciated and valuable - we appreciate your generous support! Please email Jody Davis or Jennifer Stuart with any questions or if you would like to commit to "adopting" a family. [email protected] [email protected]

WDHS VISITOR HEALTH SCREENING

All visitors must complete this survey before entering the WDHS building.

The process is straightforward. Please use your cell phone to take a picture of the QR code (Bar)and then complete the survey. A copy of this flyer is posted on the outside doors and by the door buzzer.

Thank you!
