E4U FAVOURITES SURVEY

Your job is to make a survey of favourites among your classmates. 1. Choose a topic – here are some ideas: Food Films Clothes Web sites Animals TV programmes Books Subjects Sports Pop stars Computer games Colours 2. Go around class and ask everyone your question: “What is your favourite … (soccer team) …?” 3. Make a note of the answers. The best way is to make a list and make a mark for each answer – example: Don’t like soccer / / / / / / / / / / / Rapid / / / / / Manchester United / / / Austria Memphis / / …. 4. Next make a graph like the one here. There is a sheet with a grid that you can use on the next page. Make it neat and colourful to look at. Display it on the wall – everybody will be interested in your results.

GAMES TO PRACTICE QUESTIONS AND GET TO KNOW YOUR FRIENDS BETTER

Who is it?

1. Study the “Here Am I” sheets of all your friends in class. Try to remember all the details. 2. Then ask questions and try to find out: “Who is it?” The answers must be: “Yes” or “No”. Your teacher will help you with the questions.

The 3-Minute Hot Seat Game

1. Sit in a circle. One student sits in the “Hot Seat” in the middle of the circle. The rest of the class have exactly 3 minutes to ask as many questions as possible and find out as much as they possibly can about the student in the “Hot Seat”. 2. Your teacher will help you with some questions, but try to think up your own.

Find Your Partner

1. Your E4U teacher will give you a card with a question or an answer on it. 2. Find the person with the answer to your question or the question to go with your answer.

Find Someone Who …

1. Your E4U teacher will give you a card with three tasks on it. 2. Think of a question for each task (your teachers will help you). Walk around the classroom. You can ask a classmate only one of your three questions. 3. Write down the answer and her / his name.

The Sit Next To Game

1. Your E4U teacher will tell you who to sit next to ….

“Find someone … (who is older than you) and sit next to her / him.”

Changing Places

1. Sit in a circle. Your E4U teacher will tell you how to play this game.

Do You Remember NESSIE?

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY?

1. Think of a question or a sentence that you sometimes need to say in English. Is there a mistake that you or your friends often make? (Example: “I’m sorry I haven’t got my folder.” – not map.) 2. Find out how to say your sentence with no mistakes! Write it down and get it checked by a teacher. 3. Write it in big clear letters on a card, using a pencil to begin with. Make sure someone can read it from the other side of the room. 4. Then make it very colourful and beautiful. We will hang up the cards in the classroom. 5. Act out your phrases. Your E4U Teacher will help you.
