Alumni support at work 2019 Scholarship Winners Sacred Heart Alumni Association received many excellent essays for this year’s scholarship pro-gram. On May 5th, Jayne Burke and Lucas Zelek were awarded $1500.00 scholarships thanks to a generous donation from the Mall of Georgia. They will receive an additional $500.00 towards sophomore year tuition if they maintain a B av-erage for freshman year. Marco Sultana and Leo Ramseyer received $500.00 SHAA Board Schol-arships. Marco and Leo attend U of D Jesuit while Lucas attends Divine child and Jayne attends St. Catherine of Siena. It is heartwarm-ing to see our parish children continuing their high school education at a Catholic high school.
Jayne Burke, Fr. Ken, Leo Ramseyer, Gary Yee (Principal), Lucas Zelek, Paul Bartkowiak (President SHAA), and Marco Sultana.
Continue to visit the Elementary School Our President Emeritus, Dick Fellrath, continues his annual visits to the Grade School. Dick gives presentations on various subjects. Gary Yee, the Principal of the school, appreciates Dick’s annual visits . The grade school welcomes Alumni Veterans to attend a student mass and presentation during Veterans Day week. Check the parish website in November for details. https://www.shparish.org/
SHARING SHAMROCK MEMORIES
1948 – from Mildred Korte Gietzen –
Long ago, the Excalibur was my favorite car. Someone in Grand Haven has one. They didn’t care to sell – and I didn’t have the cash! A very sad 2019. My youngest son Gregg died when he slipped on the driveway ice. Please pray for him and all grieving family members. He was extra special to all of us!
1950 – from Patricia Barrett Schubert – The Sa-cred Heart nuns back in the 1950’s were very strict. They taught right from wrong but were also very kind. How I wish they were still around to teach my children and grandchildren.
1956 – from Joseph Sharba – Still “snow-birding” between Florida and Michigan, though will probably be full time Florida next year. Have 6 children, 15 grand and one great grand daughter (Violet). Celebrated 81st birthday to-day. Thankful for each day. Enjoy the Excalibur. Hope to for many more years.
1957 – from Elaine Frank Michalik – Wow! It’s hard to believe 62 years since graduation in 1957. Loved it. Wish I could do it all over again! Best wishes to everyone in the Class of 1957. Ray & I will be married May 9th this year for 60 years. How time flies by.
1970 – from Tim Healy – I am retired and enjoy my 7 grandchildren ages 12-4 years old, golf, and leisurely reading. I travel to Florida for win-ters now in Tequesta, Florida. Both my broth-ers, Dennis (1966) and Mike (class of 1968) are both within 20 minutes of Tequesta, so a mini family reunion. I was married for 43 years until this 2019 spring when my wife passed away.

The Class of 1974 celebrated their 45th Class Reunion on August 3rd. Small attendance did not dampen spirits as we all had an absolute blast. The party was held in Sacred Heart Parish Hall with beverages and food pro-vided by class members. Laughter and memories were the centerpiece of the evening, capped off with a spec-tacular fireworks display courtesy of the Dearborn Homecoming. It was a special night that will be long remembered. Thanks to all that helped make it such a success.
