Histor The Custom House Wharf was built before 1807 and immersed in history having supported generations of Portland's waterfront businesses. The Casco Bay and Harpswell Steamboat Company, now Casco Bay Lines,

housed its main ferry terminal -where Gilbert's Chowder House now stands -until 1979 when it moved toMaine State Pier. Harbor Fish Market has been a prominent site for a fish market since the late 1800's while the original Boone's Restaurant opened its doors in 1898. Portland Yacht Club even called the wharf its home, paying $8.30 per month for its first clubhouse before moving to Falmouth in 1946.

The P roprietors acquired the wharf in 1859 when John Lynch, Nathaniel Blanchard, William Evans, and William W. Thomas, all of Portland, sold it for a mere $21,200.00. Since then, the same family has operated, managed, and maintained the buildings and infrastructure for a total of 159 years.

The Portland, Maine Commercial Real Estate Market is undergoing a renaissance and is as vibrant as it has ever been, and according to the Maine Real Estate Development Associations 2019 Forecast, it is only getting better.
