BIG contract in Asia OTC 2008For the first time the JotronGroup attended the Off-shore Technology Confe-rence(OTC) inHoustonandwere represented by JotronUSA. Jotron participated asanexhibitoratTheNorwegi-anPavilion.OTCexperiencedan“alltimehigh”andsetnewrecords concerning space,thenumberofexhibitorsandvisitors.TheNorwegianPavillionhad 50 Norwegian companies exhibiting. During the event,wewerepriveligedtomeetStateSecretaryMonicaStubholtfromtheNorwegianOilandEnergyDepartment,whocametoHoustontomeetwiththeNorwegianexhibitors.

Attendance at the 2008 Offshore Technology Conference(OTC)reached75,092,a26-yearhigh,asenergyprofessio-nalsfrom110countriesmetto learnaboutthe latesttech-nologytofindandproduceoffshoreoilandnaturalgasre-sources. Attendance increased 11 percent from 2007. Withmorethanone-halfmillionsquarefeetofexhibitionarea,theshow included 2,500 companies from more than 35 coun-triesinanareathesizeof13footballfields.

Jotron Asia co-operated withSingapore Tech-nologies to bidfor a tender withSingaporePo-lice Coast Guard.Jotron competedagainst RohdeSchwarz and thecontract was for10 new vesselswhichwillbema-

nufacturedbyDamenShipyards.Jotronwillsupplytheseves-selswithVHF/UHFradiosoverthenextfewyears.

An important criteria in the contract was that SingaporeTechnologies should come to Norway and do the FAT andtrainingfor installingtheseradios.TheFATandtrainingwassuccessfulandbothJotronandSingaporeTechnologiesarehappywiththeresult.

Future plans and expectationsThe Beacon interviewedMortenKjørum,theMa-nagingDirectorofJotronConsultas, to discusstheir future plans. Whatare the expectationsand what strategies arelaid down with regardtotherestoftheJotronGroup.

- What have been your expectations on be-coming a part of the Jotron Group?

Beingafairlysmallcom-pany for so many ye-ars our expectation isof course that Jotron’snetworkofregionaloffices,distributorsand agents can make us more visibleontheglobalscene.

Ourproductsareindeedalreadyavai-lable on a global basis, but customersupporthasbeencentraliseduptonow.Besidesafewagentsinselectedcoun-trieswehavenotreallydonemuchac-tivesales,but ratherhadtheprivilegeofservingarangeof loyalcustomers.Therefore we expect this acquisitionto gradually strengthen our customersupportandsalesactivities.

Beingpartofagroupalsoprovidesuswithaccesstoresourcesandbusinessexperiencewhichcanbeofgreatcon-tribution when we now prepare JotronConsultasforbusinessgrowth.

- What has been done so far?

All employees in Consultas were invi-tedtoJotron’sHeadquarterinFebruaryand were given a brief introduction tothevariousdepartments.Wealsohadthe pleasure of joining Jotron’s SpringParty.

Newbusinesscardshavebeenprintedand the new logo is implemented onour letterheads. New product catalo-guesaswellasrollupshavebeenmadeusingJotron’s layout.Wearenowalsorepresented on jotron.com with a linktoconsultas.no.

The Sales Department at Jotron AShas been introduced to the Consultasproductrangeanddiscussionsareon-goingastohowtheseproductscanbepromoted through the existing busi-nesschannels.

- How will Jotron´s regional offices represent Jotron Consultas AS?

JotronUKwereintroducedtoourpro-ducts and organisation already inFebruaryandwearestilljointlydefininghow they shall represent and supporttheConsultassoftwareproducts.

Jotron Asia in Singapore is already upandrunningfor1stlinesupportandsa-lesintheAsianregion.

Jotron Consultas were part of the Jo-tron Asia’s stand at Asia Pacific Mari-

timeinMarch.MrHtunnLynn,aformeragentforConsultas, isnowhired inasCustomer Support/Business Develop-mentManager.Heisalreadyverybusyin servicing existing customers andpromotingJotronConsultastopoten-tialclients.

- What lies in the future for Jotron Consultas AS?

- In September at SMM in HamburgJotronConsultaswillberepresentedbyour own staff together with the othercompaniesinthegroup.

- We have just recently employed MrBjørnNygård-NavalArchitectandarecurrently looking for 2 more emplo-yees.

- We are faced with strong demandsfordeliveries,whichisgood,butwealsohave great commitments to furtherdevelopourcoreproducts.

-Weshallcontinuetolookforbusinesssynergiesonalllevels,whilestillnotfor-gettingthatourcorebusinessneedstobemanagedonadaytodaybasis.

TheJotronGroupwasrepresentedbyJotronUSA,Inc.attheFIDAEAirShow2008 inSantiago,Chile.Themissionof theevent was to promote actual business opportunities withnationaland internationalcompaniesworking inaerospaceanddefense.Theshowenabledwithpotentialcustomerstodiscoversuppliersprovidinghigh-qualityproductsandser-vices.

During the FIDAE Air Show, Jotron arranged a conference,whereapproximately45participantsattendedtosit inonapresentationofJotron’sradiosinthe3000,4000and7000series, includingtheTR-810andRACSIII.AreaSalesMana-ger,JuanOltrawelcomedtheparticipantsandthankedthemforattendingtheconferenceonbehalfoftheJotronGroup.HealsointroducedJotronsnewlineofradiosandpresentedStåleMelvoldasmemberofourengineeringdepartment.
