Geberit Mepla – For Flexibility and High Performance

The universally applicable Geberit Mepla pressing

system comprises the system pipe, pressfitting and

pressing tool. Geberit Mepla is more corrosion-resistant

and lighter than metal pipes and more inherently stable

and durable than plastic pipes. Therefore it can be bent

and processed easily and safely making it the ideal

choice for installers who want to reduce the hassle

factor on site and ultimately save more money

compared to traditional jointing techniques.

An extensive range of fittings in diameters 16mm –

75mm are available for all requirements as well as

intelligent solutions for connecting the supply system

to other installation elements.

Features and Benefits of Geberit Mepla

Reduced Installation Costs

Due to its lightweight construction and flexibility, Geberit

Mepla is extremely quick to install, meaning less hassle

and more efficiency for the installer on site. This allows

Geberit Mepla to offer huge installed cost savings

compared to traditional jointing techniques with labour

cost savings alone in excess of 30%.

Pipe Insertion Depth

The pipe insertion depth remains visible at all times.

This ensures that the pipe can be easily and clearly

pushed correctly onto the fitting during installation

ready for pressing.

Leaks if Unpressed

Unpressed Geberit Mepla connections can easily be

identified as they visibly leak when subjected to water

pressure tests. This occurs even at low testing

pressures up to 15bar.

Pressing Jaw Guide

The defined jaw guide on the fitting ensures that the

pressing jaw is positioned correctly during pressing.

It also prevents any risk of the joint slipping or being

pressed in the wrong place, thus guaranteeing a

long-lasting secure connection.

Reduced Theft Risk

Speak to any installer and they will tell you that theft of

raw materials such as copper has become a real

problem. Unlike other piping systems, Geberit Mepla has

a low scrap value which means you have piece

of mind to get on with the task in hand.



Stability

Using high-quality plastic, cross-linked polyethylene,

in conjunction with aluminium combines the benefits of

plastic with those of metallic piping systems. The thick

aluminium layer in Geberit Mepla ensures a high level of

stability and mechanical strength.

Bending Capability

When installing Geberit Mepla pipes, the necessary

flexibility is always ensured. 16 – 20mm pipes can easily

be bent by hand and bending tools can be used for larger

dimensions up to 50mm.

Linear Expansion

The special composition of Geberit Mepla pipes with the

thick aluminium layer prevents linear expansion of the

pipe in response to temperature fluctuations, meaning

fewer fastening points are required during installation.

Tensile Strength

The tensile strength of the Geberit Mepla compression

joint ensures a reliable, long-lasting connection, even in

piping systems subjected to high loads.

Surface Condition

The inner plastic layer of Geberit Mepla pipes has a

surface roughness of only 0.0009mm, meaning there

is little friction to impede the flow of water along the

surface, permitting higher flow rates. It is also

harder for limescale and biofilm to adhere

to the smooth surface.

The Henco range from Pegler Yorkshire is a total

Multilayer System that includes multilayer pipe,

PVDF and brass fittings in sizes 14 to 63mm and soon

75mm. The system is fully WRAS approved as well as

able to cope with high pressure and temperature.

The extensive range also includes a selection of

manifolds and accessories that allows for substantial

on-site installation flexibility across a wide range of

commercial and domestic applications.

Multilayer Pipe

Henco Multilayer pipe uses a patented design to combine

the advantages of engineering polymers with metal pipe

lines allowing the installer to experience the benefits of

both systems in one.

Pipe Composition

PVDF Press-fit Fittings for Multilayer Pipe

Henco PVDF fittings offering excellent mechanical

strength and reliability, they are highly cost-effective and

are available in a wide range of configurations in sizes 14

to 63mm. Fittings are manufactured from injection

moulded polyvinylidene fluoride bodies with stainless steel

pressure sleeves and EPDM O-ring. Installers can have

added peace of mind using PVDF fittings as they feature

a leak before press design (sizes 14 to 32mm) and have

viewing windows for check correct pipe insertion. The

Henco range of PVDF fittings will been extended to

include 75mm pipe and fittings, with the 75mm fittings

using a modular design that uses

a press tool to make joint with

pipe but needs no tool for

assembling the fitting using a

quick and simple clamp and

pin technique.

Brass Press-fit Fittings for

Multilayer Pipe

Henco Brass fittings are manufactured with tin plated

brass bodies to EN 12164 and EN 12164, stainless

steel pressure sleeves and EPDM O-ring certified to

W534 by DVGW.

The fitting design uses the unique Visu-Control® System

for immediate identification of any fitting that has been

inadvertently left un-pressed. Viewing window also allow

installers to check that pipe is fully inserted into the fitting.

Uponor MLC Pipe – 12 - 110mm

Available for use in heating and plumbing pipework, and

also chilled water applications, the Uponor MLC pipe

range caters for sizes from 12mm to 110mm with a fully

press-fit system throughout.

The low expansion rates of the MLC range means that

the pipe maintains its shape during service, offering a

flexible alternative to standard plastic pipe but with an 8th

of the expansion rate, closer to that of copper.

Five Layers – Made for the Future

With our five layer composite pipe, we have developed

an advanced product that unites the advantages of a

metal and plastic pipe and eliminates the disadvantages

of both materials at the same time. This offers product

advantages that are second to none:

• The aluminium core is absolutely diffusion tight

• It prevents the ingress of oxygen

• It compensates snap-back forces

• Expansion due to changes of temperature is reduced

The Uponor MLCP consists of a longitudinally safety

welded aluminium pipe with an inner and outer layer of

high temperature-resistant polyethylene according to

German DIN 16833. All layers are permanently bonded

together by intermediate adhesive layers. A special

welding technique ensures high reliability. The aluminium

thickness for Uponor MLCP has been specially selected

for strength.
