EQUIPMENT USED

We used a Canon video camera to record our project. The camera is very easy to use and handle, and produces good quality recordings. However, we did find that the sound was occasionally difficult to hear, or that background noise overshadowed what our characters were saying.

The tripod was a big help while filming our project. It meant that we could keep the camera steady and focus on setting up the shot. It was very useful that the height of the tripod could be adjusted, along with the angle that the camera sits on it. The only problem was that it was sometimes difficult to set it up in small spaces, and when moved it occasionally caused jerky movements.

To edit our project we used iMovie. I really like this software and find it fairly easy to use, although there were occasional problems with footage failing to upload and with sounds appearing over the wrong clips.

We used software called Logic to create the soundtrack for our project. We wanted to use ‘My Immortal’ by Evanescence and ‘I Want You’ by The Beatles, and we intended to record these from being played on the piano, but the quality was poor. This software allowed us to avoid copyright issues and put our own twist on the songs.

We used social media sites Facebook and Twitter to broadcast our product after we had finished it. This is a popular way of advertising films now, as a much wider audience can be reached this way. We also used Youtube to upload our video to, which allows people to comment on our product.
