Why E-portfolio?

• Paper portfolios tend to be heavy!

• Software can provide guidance

• Web based – always accessible

• Easy to share

• Can be easily customised (usually)

Pedagogical value (1)

• Work is all in one place

• Variety of methods of data capture

• Learner has to select artefacts to upload

• Activity is date-stamped

• Artefacts and justification can be linked together

Pedagogical Value (2)

• Usual to have a home page (Precis).

• Tutors can comment on individual artefacts

• Others can comment (e.g. workplace assessors)

• User controls viewing permissions

• Multiple presentations possible.
