MATURITY MODELING APPROACH

• Maturity models: examine the maturity level of a product, system, technology or a process, especially in the field of IT management.

• General idea: break down the overall maturity of a system into a handful of different domains which are then analysed separately.

MATURITY MODELING APPROACH

• Phase 1 – Scope: determine which focus the model should have as well as the intended audience, that aims at understanding the market.

• Phase 2 – Design: create basic design or architecture for the maturity model in a way to to meet the needs of the audience; keeping in mind generalizability.

• Phase 3 – Populate: In phase three the general design needs to be spelt out into phenomena to be measured or evaluated and corresponding metrics.

• Phase 4 – Test: test for consistency and relevance, for construct, reliability and generalizability.

• Phase 5 – Deploy: collect data in accordance with these metrics and evaluation criteria. Organize data collection process; again keeping generalizability in mind.

• Phase 6 – Maintain: Finally, the model needs to be maintained and thus supported both in growth and usage.

MARKET LEVELS OVERVIEWS

• Level 0: EVs are used only by innovators. So, only few CS, mostly for research, hardly for business purposes, are installed. Government is getting aware of a growing political interest in e-Mob.

• Level 1: CS used by early adopters. Increasing numbers of CS to mainly secure future market leadership. First governmental regulative actions to foster e-Mob.

• Level 2: CS are provided to an early majority. Intense business invest into CS infrastructure. Major governmental regulative efforts to keep up with the growing political interest in e-Mob.

• Level 3: CS are used by a late majority and equipped with more functio-nality to fulfill customers’ needs and create additional business. Govern-mental fostering of e-Mob is reduced as it becomes mainstream.

• Level 4: Also laggards use CSs. CS network is sufficient in numbers and functionality for all customers. Hardly any governmental efforts to foster e-Mob any more. 14
