Preparing for Independent GroupsThere are two stages for the teacher before implementing Into Connectors and Connectors as anindependent group activity. These are explained in the Teachers’ Resource Books.
Student-led DiscussionsStudents work in peer groups of six.Prompts and guidance are given tostudents on pages 2 and 3.Each student picks a coloured‘smiley face’ icon. When a student’s coloured iconappears on a page, that student leads the discussion.

Looking BackAfter reading, students are invited to discuss and think about the whole book. A variety of graphic organisers are used in the Something to Think About section. These are available as Blackline Masters in the Teachers’ Resource book.

Into Connectors provides a mixture of fiction and nonfiction titles at two levels.Each title has six self-contained double-page spreads. A differentstudent leads the discussion about each spread.
