Lending of Danish e-books from Modtryk

Background: Swedish libraries is lending out e-books from the e-book publisher eLib.

The centre contacts eLib, who is interested in doing a pilotproject in co-operation with Danish publisher

Modtryk (Danish publisher) gets involved and provides 11 books to the project

In the spring of 2002 Randers Library will start lending out the titles from their homepage www.randersbib.dk.

Randers Bibliotek has to pay 20 SEK. For each loan plus 2000 SEK for each title for converting to e-book format.

eLib do the converting and encryption E-books can be borrowed for 5 days or 7.000 minutes.

Format are Acrobat Reader and the e-books can only be accessed from a computer.

It’s not possible to print or copy the e-books. eLib is working on a format, that can be read at

handhelp devices. The publisher clears the rights by the authors. You have to be a registered patron in Randers to

borrow. Goal: To integrate titles in OPAC
