By STEPHEN CLIMER. Texas Refinery Corp DZL-PEP ARCTIC is a complete package offering lubrication, moisture control, anti-rust, and anti-corrosion chemistry. Detergents in DZL-PEP ARCTIC remove deposits & prevent deposits from forming, which restores lost power and improves fuel economy. Other benefits include protecting the fuel from thermal break-down, providing a strong anti-oxidant to improve fuel storage life, improve fuel filter life, and of course, the ability to handle wax crystal formation.

DZL-PEP ARCTIC with AAT (Advanced Additive Technology) is a multi-functional fuel additive. DZL- PEP ARCTIC’s unique chemistry allows users to match treat ratios to conditions and performance requirements. Fuel quality and equipment needs change from region to region, it’s extremely important to be able to adjust treat ratios for your individual equipment demands. The Performance Package (1:2000 ratio) drops the Pour Point and Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) an average of 15 degrees F. The Premium Performance Package (1:1000 ratio) drops the Pour Point and CFPP an average of 25 degrees F. This helps prevent gelling of the wax, which allows better fuel flow and equipment operation in severe cold weather conditions.

When wax crystals form they change the viscosity of the fuel. The viscosity of the fuel is significant because the fuel serves as a lubricant for the fuel system components. Fuels need to have sufficient viscosity. The fuel must be able to lubricate the fuel system in both extremely cold and extremely hot temperatures. In Caterpillar engines, if the kinematic viscosity of the fuel is lower than 1.4 cSt, as supplied to the fuel injection pump or unit injectors, excessive scuffing and seizure can occur.

DZL-PEP ARCTIC with AAT acts as a great pour point depressant, preventing wax that is present in diesel fuel from congealing at low temperatures. Congealing occurs when the wax in diesel fuels crystalizes and combines to form crystal networks which can restrict and prevent fuel flow.

Pour point depressants do not prevent wax from crystallizing in the fuel. Depressants coat the wax crystals and therefore, change the structure of the crystals. DZL-PEP ARCTIC controls wax crystals through its unique Advanced Additive Technology. This process prevents the formation of large interlocking needle-like masses. Instead, smaller, rounded, free-moving particles are formed, which permits fuel flow.

Because the quality of diesel fuel varies so much, some customers will use DZL-PEP ARCTIC at ratios of 1:750 (1 ounce to 6 gallons diesel fuel) in the coldest months. Another reason to use the 1:750 ratio is bio-diesel (B2 thru B20), because bio-diesel can cause Internal Diesel Injector Deposits (IDID) in high pressure common rail diesel fuel injection systems. DZL-PEP ARCTIC can remove IDID (some very tough deposits) and can keep the total fuel system in great shape.

A common winter practice is to blend #2 Diesel Fuel with kerosene, alcohol, or harmful solvents in an attempt to winterize fuel. When these are added to the diesel fuel, it burns quicker, hotter and drier. Such a mixture greatly reduces the fuels’ natural lubricity and greatly reduces the fuel efficiency and economy. DZL-PEP ARCTIC is the safe way to keep equipment up and running. DZL-PEP ARCTIC contains no harmful ingredients and is suitable for use in all types of Diesel and is even recommended for Bio-Diesel blends of B-2 through B-20. DZL-PEP ARCTIC is formulated to allow fuel to burn at its optimum performance level.

*Since TRC was not invited, the test results for TRC DZL-PEP ARCTIC w/AAT are from tests conducted by Lubrizol, one of the world's largest additive manufacturers.

High Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) is a wear test based on a product's ability to add lubricity to the fuel and then to reduce wear.
