Dear [NAME],

Subject: Netherlands Lacrosse at world. Cup 2013

I would like to thank you for considering supporting the Dutch Woman's National Lacrosse team in their efforts to compete at the 2013 Women’s World Cup to be held in Oshawa, Canada 10-20 July of this year.

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the Netherlands combining lightning speed, tactics and skill. Clubs are established around most university towns in the Netherlands and the sport is now being extended to school age players to form under 19 teams competing in the national league. New clubs are being added every year. Dutch Lacrosse is in vogue and cool!

The National Women's Team has competed since 2002 achieving a 16th place in the world cup in 2005, improving to 13th in 2009. In 2012 the Netherlands Lacrosse Association organized a very successful European championship for both men and women in Amsterdam where the woman's team came 7th.

It is important to send a team to the World cup this year to build on this success and continue the momentum for the further development of the sport in the Netherlands.

Selection of the team is in progress and each of the 18 members of the team will contribute €1500 from their own pockets. In addition to this players are asked to raise funds from their own social network towards costs estimated at 85,000€.

Beside the satisfaction of being involved in a laudable and worthwhile enterprise sponsors will  be given marketing opportunities with the team both in the Netherlands and Canada where a Dutch Day party will be organized during the championships.

Fundraising is being carried out by a group of parents and ex- players (and the players themselves, of course) who will be responsible to the donors. This group has the active support of both the Dutch ambassador in Canada and his Canadian counterpart in the Netherlands.

Please feel free to contact me at any time in regard to this worthwhile sporting cause.

Thank you again for your time.

Yours,

P.S. We have a Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/WDNTLax which in turn has links to our crowd funding site.
