From the Pastor
Sunday evening, we discussed how our God is an encouraging God!
II Corinthians 7:6 But God, who comforts the depressed, comforted us by the
coming of Titus; Our world is full of criticism and negative behavior that can
drag us down. There are three things we can each do that would contribute
to our own spiritual growth as well as the growth in others.
1. Encourage others daily. Why? Because the voices of discouragement
are so real and so constant.
Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called
“Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
2. Encourage others spiritually. Whenever we' re around people, we want to help them
grow strong in the Lord. We want them to be strengthened in faith. We want to bring them a
gift with our words and our heart and our presence that helps them to grow strong in the Lord.
Romans 1:11-12 For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you
may be established; 12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you,
each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.
3. Encourage yourself in the Lord your God. As an example, David was massively
distressed. He had trouble on the outside and fear on the inside. People were talking
about stoning him. Here's what David says in First Samuel 30:6, “Moreover David
was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were
embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself
in the Lord his God.”
Be encouraged! Our God reigns! I am really looking forward to Sunday! Pancakes early
and then a great day planned as Bobby and Allison Broughton will be here for their first day!
See you Sunday, Bro. Tommy

Parent University is a community collaborative led by House of Faith, Immanuel Baptist Church, and Reagan
Elementary to help parents become full partners in their children’s education. The hope is to equip families with new or
additional skills, knowledge, resources and confidence. The goal of Parent University is to empower parents to raise children who are successful in school, and in life while
increasing parent involvement in the schools.
Workshops are held at Reagan Elementary
and resume on Tuesday, September 11 from 5:00 to 7:00. We are asking for the
entire IBC family to pray for lives to be changed through the relationships that
will be developed. We also need volunteers
with childcare & teaching
