CHAIRMAN`S MESSAGE

Barry Dodd Chairman

Tel: 07770956036

Barry and Angela

Chairman's Message 2018 Dear Centre members I am very proud after serving many years on committee to become your Centre chairman. Angela and I will work very hard to promote our centre and hope to continue to make it the great success it is today. It is a pleasure to present our 2018 rally programme and thanks must go to our rally secretary and publicity officer and anyone else who has worked tirelessly to produce the programme and handbook. We have some new venues this year along with some old favourites, please give them your support. Thanks also go to our advertisers, it is with their support this handbook can be produced, and thanks too for permission from landowners as without them we could not continue to enjoy our favourite pastime. We have a number of new committee members this year who I welcome and hope they bring enthusiasm and fresh ideas to take our centre forward, I would also like to thank retiring com-mittee members for their past service. 2017 saw our numbers on rallies increase once again with many being full and the new gazebo’s have been a great success, long may it continue. This year we are introducing a £5 deposit when booking on limited rallies and Bank Holidays this will secure your booking. New rally marshals have come forward this year so hopefully we will see new ideas for themed rallies to enjoy. Please continue to support the centre and remember to re-register with DURHAM CENTRE when renewing your CARAVAN & MOTORHOME CLUB MEMBERSHIP. I would like to thank Harry Thompson for all the help and advice he has given me for the last 3years and wish Himself & Christine all the best for the future. Finally Angela & Myself look forward to seeing you all on the rally field and our kettle will always be on . Barry Dodd

May I start by thanking the committee and members of Durham Centre for giving me the privilege of being your Rally Secretary for 2018. It has been a challenging start finalising the 2018 programme. I aim to spend my time looking for new venues as well as some of the all-time classics. I will aim to keep the prices as low as possible when negotiating with land owners. The more members we can bring onto rallies the better deal I can get to benefit us all. If you are aware of a rally field you think will benefit Durham Centre members please let me know. I would like to thank past and future Rally Marshals for supporting Durham Centre and giving up your own time to help keep the centre running. Without YOU none of this will be possible. If any member has any aspiration and enthusiasm to become a rally Marshals please don’t hesitate to contact me or any member of the committee. I hope you all have all have a wonderful 2018 season Karl Davis

What to expect when you attend your first Rally: The Durham Centre will be pleased to welcome you to any of the Rallies listed in the Centre Handbook. Our Rallies are gatherings of Caravan and Motorhome Club Members for a weekend or holiday. We aim to promote friendship and interests in a light hearted manner and have some fun along the way. The Rally Marshals are ordinary Centre Members who have volunteered their time to run and organise the Rally This includes arranging the site and services and providing a programme of entertainment which may include social evenings, competitions, local events, sports activities etc. You may either join in or remain free to ‘do your own thing’. Directions to each Rally are given in the Rally Handbook. Durham Centre yellow signs may be sited on approaches to the site. 1. Report to the Rally Marshal's caravan on the field, where you will be welcomed and given general information such as where the water tap is and where the Elsan point can be located. A list of all activities will be given to you. The Rally Marshals will then direct you to your pitch and give any assistance you may request. 2. Fields may not be level so always carry some levelling boards and blocks in order to level your van. 3. You must have a clean water carrier, and a wastewater receptacle. 4.
