Analysis

Page 2: Due Date Magazine Analysis

This is a half page spread of a magazine review.

Page 3: Due Date Magazine Analysis

The title of the page from the magazine is clearly labelled so the audience are aware of which section they are reading within the magazine.

In the same colour font to keep the professional effect is the name of the film. It is in capitals to make it eye catching and makes it clear to the audience that it is the title of the film. This is important as then it will be more rememberable if the audience do decide to go watch the film

A caption is positioned under the title in an italic text to inform the audience that it is a caption and not an important feature to the film. However the advantage of it rhyming makes the review more humorous and helps to represent the genre of the film which is comedy.

The film details carries on the previous fonts that have already been used to upkeep the professional profile of the magazine. Including the following information of; when the film was released, the age certificate, the director, the cast and the running time is important information that the target audience may be interested in. The plot is also included in the film details section gives the audience that extra bit more information about the narrative so that they are more knowledgeable about it when reading the review.

Because the review is only half a page the font of the body text is quite small, however due to it being an aged 15 film it is suitable for the target audience as the layout of the magazine review looks professional and mature. The body text has very negative language, as the author clearly did not enjoy watching the film. The author uses a lot of rhetorical questions to engage the audience, this creates the review to be more personal and shows that the author has thought of all aspects if he is having to question the film.

The verdict is found at the end of the body text. Like from the verdict from the Spiderman 2 review it is being compared to another film. However in this case it is being compared too in a negative way.

The star rating underneath the verdict justify the thoughts and feelings that the author declares in the review. Rating it 2 stars does not look very good advertisement for the film.

The main image is still on the larger scale considering it is in a half page layout. The image is of a still shot from the film and is of the two main protagonists. It is a clear shot of the main stars that play the characters which is another strong element that audiences rely on when watching a film. This is an effective way to catch the audience attention.
