Long Island reached the 7 million fan mark faster than any other team in league history despite having begun play in the ALPB’s third year of existence (2000). The crowd of 6,843 on Saturday was the Ducks’ eighth past - capacity crowd of the year and league-record 671st sold out crowd all-time. Swat the Skeeters: Tonight marks the 16th meeting of the season along with the 115th all-time meeting between the Ducks and Skeeters. Homer Party: The Ducks continued to smack the ball over the fence with a two- run home run by Marc Krauss in the sixth inning on Tuesday. As a team, the Ducks have now homered at least once in 10 consecutive games, totaling 12 home runs in that span. That follows a stretch where the team hit four homers total over the first 12 games in August. Built Ford Tough: Lew Ford had three hits on Tuesday night to earn his fifth three -hit game and 16th multi-hit contest of the season. The outfielder and bench coach has now reached base safely in each of his nine games played since returning from a hamstring injury on August 12, earning at least one hit in seven. TONIGHT’S STARTING PITCHER

NOTABLE NUGGETS LAST TIME OUT: Jake Dunning earned his second win in as many starts, as the Ducks routed the Lancaster Barnstormers 10-1 to open the current homestand. The right-hander tossed five scoreless innings for the second consecutive outing, giving up six hits and one walk while striking out a season-high six batters. He threw a season-most 64 pitches, 43 of which were strikes. Dunning stranded five Lancaster runners on base, including two in scoring position in the third. A MAN WHO CAN DO BOTH: Dunning began his collegiate career at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, where he played both shortstop and pitcher. Upon transferring to Indiana University, Dunning continued to be a two-way player, hitting .308 in 57 games in 2009. He helped to lead the Hoosiers to the Big Ten Tournament championship that season and was named to the All-Tournament team at shortstop. FAMILIAR FACES: When Jake Dunning arrived to Long Island in mid-July, he was greeted by a familiar face in Ducks catcher Alex Burg. Dunning and Burg came up through the San Francisco Giants organization together in the early 2010’s. Though no longer with the team, injured LHP Jack Snodgrass played with the pair in the Giants system as well.

PITCHER TIDBITS

Began the season pitching in the Chicago White Sox organization, making a

total of 14 appearances between Triple-A Charlotte of the International League and Double-A Birmingham of the Southern League.

Was originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 33rd round of the

2009 MLB Draft out of Indiana University.

Made his MLB debut on June 16, 2013 against the Atlanta Braves at Turner

Field. Dunning logged a scoreless inning of relief against the Braves.

Younger brother, Dane Dunning, is a top pitching prospect in the Chicago

White Sox organization, currently pitching for the Advanced-A Winston-Salem Dash of the Carolina League. Dane was traded by the Washington Nationals along with RHP Lucas Giolito to Chicago in exchange for CF Adam Eaton this past winter. vs. LHH: .333 vs. RHH: .170
