Book week

Dress Up day: What an amazing array of costumes we saw on dress

up day! Thank you to all the students and teachers for getting into

the spirit of the day and to the parents and caregivers who helped

create the brilliant costumes.

Craft afternoon: Wednesday afternoon was filled with glitter and

glue. With approx. 90 people in attendance, the library was a hive of

activity. Thank you to all the adults who helped our students create

parachutes, crowns, bookmarks, chickens, treasure boxes and

windmills.

Trivia Afternoon: Thursday afternoon and the Stage 2 & 3 trivia

buffs turned up to the library in droves! 100 students

created their own teams and accepted the challenge.

The final victory was won by The Awesome Fishcakes,

a team of stage 2 students. Congratulations on the

fantastic sportsmanship of all who attended and on

your exceptional knowledge of the Book Week books and school

trivia.

Book Week Party: Oh what a party! 75 students enjoyed a Book

Week party on Friday. We played games, cut the book week cake

and received some prizes. Children from Kinder to Year 6 were in

attendance.

Connect to reading windows: Congratulations to 4J & 1/2T on

winning the window displays this year. These classes will have a

special library lesson in Week 8 to celebrate!

Premier’s Reading Challenge has now FINISHED! With a huge influx

over the last week. A list of students who recently completed will be

published by Year over the coming weeks. A final figure will be

published next week after the final validations have occurred. Well

done to all who completed or attempted the challenge this year.

Stage 2 Red Hill Excursion Itineraries, gear lists, trip allocation and medical notes were sent home last week. Please complete the medical note and return to your child’s teacher ASAP.

Kinder News Student Teacher in KP: KP welcomes Miss Roseanna Morrish into their class for the remainder of Term 3 and will be working closely with Mrs McCubbin. Dubbo West Preschool visiting: Kindergarten is very excited about working with pre-schoolers from West Dubbo Preschool who are visiting the Kinder rooms on Tuesday and Thursday this week. These students will join in classroom activities and enjoy reading, craft, play and other activities to familiarise themselves with 'big' school. Expressions Tea towels: Kindergarten are interested in designing their very own tea towel. If we go ahead with it each child will do their own drawing which will be printed on a Kindergarten tea towel and sold to interested parents for around $8 - $9. It makes a great keepsake of their first year of schooling or a fun present at Christmas time. Please register your interest with your child's classroom teacher so we can see if we have the numbers to go ahead. Father's Day Lunch: Lunch Order slips will be coming home with your child this week, ready for our Father's Day/ Male Mentor lunch. Look out for a letter which explains what will be happening and be sure to return the lunch order slips to your classroom teacher ASAP. Kinder Zoo Excursion: The Kindergarten zoo excursion is rapidly approaching and we are asking that all money and permission slips are returned this week. If you need another note just contact the office or your child's teacher. Kindergarten Maths Rally: To celebrate Literacy and Numeracy week , Kindergarten staff are hosting a Maths Rally this week which will take place in the Kindergarten classrooms on Wednesday afternoon between 1:35- 3:15. The students will enjoy rotating maths stations in each of the Kindergarten rooms. All parents, grandparents, carers, etc are welcome to join their child for the afternoon.

3/4F Father’s Day Craft Could students in 3/4F please bring in a photo of themselves, their family or with their dad to use as Father’s Day craft. This is going to be cut and glued so a print out of a photo will be fine. Thanks Martel Farrell

PBL Positive Behaviour for Learning

Students are being asked to take responsibility for their choices before the 9am bell. ALL students (and parents if waiting with children) are requested to wait in the canteen area as this is the only area actively supervised at this time.

All students are required to sit quietly until the 9am bell when they can go to their classroom to drop off bags, do home reading or play in a supervised playground with their friends. Thank you to all who continually cooperate with DSPS expectations.
