Girls Touch On Tuesday the boys and girls touch teams played Cudgegong Valley Public School. The boys score at full time was 4-4 then they went to drop off and it was down to 3 vs 3 players. Ted, Will and Rome were the three players in the drop off, Ted made a break and scored the winning try. The girls had a really tough game and sadly lost 5-2. A special thanks to

Cudgegong valley public school for travelling to Dubbo for the games.

Rugby Union

The boy’s Rugby Union team went to Armidale to play King-

scliff Public School. The boys were down 14-7 at half-time.

But the boys didn’t give up and kept playing their hardest.

The score at full time was 33-33, but the rules are the team

that scores the first try wins and we did so we now are

going to Sydney to play in the State Finals at the end of

August. Special thanks to John Raidaveta, Shaun Barker and

the other parents for accompanying us.

Boys and Girls Basketball The boys team have progressed to the PSSA Basketball knockout finals following a withdrawal from Alma PS. The finals will be held in Bathurst next Friday 25th August. The girls basketball team will play Burke Ward PS at Cobar next Thursday 24th August. If the girls win this match they will join the boys team in Bathurst. We wish the girls all the best on their road to the finals. We are expecting a tough match.

Wambangalang Excursions Last week students from 3/4D and 3/4T travelled on a bus to Wambangalang Field Studies Centre. We took our suitcases to the dorms where we slept the night. We had a great time and were kept busy with lots of activities. The first thing we did was to make a worm farm using milk bottles, dirt and newspaper. We then added rotten banana peels on top and then added the worms. Brookes favourite activity was the ‘dip netting’. We went down to the dam and then used nets to catch insects from the water. We then had to identify the insects from a sheet given to us by one of the teachers. Giang loved bike riding through the bush. We rode for a couple of hours. Some of the children saw kangaroos, however we didn’t. We also had lessons in the classroom where we looked at different things through the microscope. It was great fun! Brooke Matthews & Giang Hoang

STEM Workshop Last week some Stage 2 & 3 students had visitors from Newcastle University come to talk to us about some STEM based competitions that we could enter into. I learned a lot about statistics and how they help us to record data. One competition was to build an electric solar

powered car using some special kits that we got to play with. The other competition was a poster competition about anything of our choice, I chose Sci Fi. I liked how they showed us examples of what we could create and I’m excited to create my own poster to enter the competition next Term. Latana Eulo-Gibbs (5/6S)

PBL Expectations

Our focus this week continues to be on CARE.

Please remember to look after our school

environment. We are focussing on showing

empathy towards others, meaning treating

others as you would like to be treated. We are remember-

ing to say please and thank you as well as being kind and

respectful to our peers and teachers.
