Students can be jointly
admitted and enrolled at
Oregon State University and
any community college partner.
DPP Purpose/Goals
• Improve student access, success and baccalaureate
degree completion
• Expand options for college-level services and curriculum
• Improve academic program articulation
• Establish new levels of cooperation
• Joint admission / concurrent enrollment
• Alleviate problems associated with the traditional transfer
process
• Remove barriers to persistence, completion
• Reduce the cost and time required to complete a
baccalaureate degree
• Develop new academic and career pathways that meet
workforce demands
Literature
• Access to higher education for diverse populations
• Low income, minority and first-generation students
are more likely to attend community colleges
• Factors such as low tuition, small classes, and a
focus on teaching and learning attract students to
CC’s Data shows CC is a gateway to baccalaureate
degree attainment
• 7 out of 10 community college students expected to
complete a bachelor’s degree but 2 out of 10 actually
do
Theory and DPP
• College Students Adjustment and Transition Theory
• Integration has three distinct stages, separation,
transition, and incorporation (Tinto)
• Students cope with change in three phases (moving
in, moving through, or moving out).
• Adjustment is based on: situation, self, support, and
coping strategies (Schlossberg)
• Student Involvement Theory – Energy into the
educational setting (Astin)

First Year DPP Admission Reqs.
Grade Point Average high school GPA of 3.0 or higher
SAT/ACT must submit official SAT and/or ACT scores
Coursework • English (4 years)
• Mathematics (3 years) including 1st year algebra and 2
additional years culminating at algebra II or higher.
• Social Studies (3 years) including U.S. History, 1 global
studies, 1 social studies elective.
• Science (3 years) at least 1 year each of two different
sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, etc.). For example: 1
year biology and 2 years chemistry; or 1 year biology, 1 year
chemistry, and 1 year physics. It is strongly recommended
that one be a laboratory science course.
Foreign Language
Requirement
(if graduated high
school after 1997)
2 years of the same high school level foreign language, or
earning a grade of ‘C–‘ or higher in the third year of high
school level foreign language, or completing two quarters of
the same college-level foreign language, or earning a
satisfactory score on an approved assessment of foreign
language

Grade Point Average • GPA of 2.25 or higher for all previous college work.
• Eligible to return to most recent college/university attended.
SAT/ACT
Coursework • Successful completion of no less than 24 quarter (16
semester) graded, transferable credits.
• English: College level writing beginning with WR 121 (Eng.
Comp.) or higher with a grade of ‘C–‘ or above

DPP and Financial Aid
OSU's financial aid office will count the credits at the partner
school toward the total load, and will base the award off the total.
• 1 credit at OSU to receive aid
• 6 credits If student has OSU scholarships/grant
• OSU will issue you a refund check after subtracting your OSU
tuition -- use this to pay your bill at the community college.
