بسم اهللا الرمحن الرحيمIn the name of Allaacuteh the Beneficent the Merciful

اللـهم صل على حممد وآل حممدO Allaacuteh bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad

اهلي ال تـؤدبين بعقوبتك O My Lord Do not discipline me by Your punishment

و ال متكر يب يف حيلتك and do not plot against me in Your stratagem

ر يا رب من اين يل اخليـFrom where do I obtain the bounties O Lord

و ال يوجد إال من عندك while none can be found except with You

و من اين يل النجاة و ال تستطاع إال بك And how can I seek salvation while it Can be granted by none but YOU

ال الذي احسن استـغىن عن عونك و رمحتك Neither can the good‐doer do without Your help and mercy

و ال الذي اساء و اجتـرأ عليك nor can the sinful one who offended You (when sinning)

و مل يـرضك خرج عن قدرتك and displeased You bypass the realm of Your power and capacity

يا رب يا رب يا رب O my Lord O my Lord O my Lord

بك عرفـتك و انت دللتين عليك I knew of You by You and You directed me to You

و دعوتين اليك

and called me to You

و لوال انت مل ادر ما انت and without You I would not have known what You are

احلمد هللا الذي ادعوه فـيجيبينAll Praise is for Allah whom I call upon with my needs then He answers me

و ان كنت بطيـئا حني يدعوينeven though I was slow when He calls upon me

يـعطيينو احلمد هللا الذي اسأله فـ All Praise is for Allah whom I supplicate and He grants me (what I plead for)

و ان كنت خبيال حني يستـقرضين even though I was stingy when He sought a loan from me

و احلمد هللا الذي اناديه كلما شئت حلاجيتAll Praise is for Allah whom I call upon with my needs whenever I wish

و اخلو به حيث شئت لسري بغري شفيع فـيـقضى يل حاجيتand I entrust Him with my secrets without an intercessor and He grants me my wishes

ره احلمد هللا الذي ال ادع و غيـ All Praise is for Allah whom I do not plead to anyone but Him

ره مل يستجب يل دعائي و لو دعوت غيـfor if I pleaded to others they would not grant me

ره و احلمد هللا الذي ال ارجو غيـAll Praise is for Allah whom I do not put my hopes to anyone but Him

ره الخلف رجائي و لو رجوت غيـfor if I put my hopes on others they would fulfill my hopes

و احلمد هللا الذي وكلين اليه فاكرمينAll Praise is for Allah who dignified me by becoming the Disposer of my affairs

و مل يكلين اىل الناس فـيهينوينinstead of making me rely on others who then would humiliate me

و احلمد هللا الذي حتبب اىل و هو غين عين All Praise is for Allah who endeared me even though He is not in need of me

و احلمد هللا الذي حيلم عين حىت كاين ال ذنب يلAll Praise is for Allah who treats me with clemency just as if I have no sin

فـريب امحد شييء عندي و احق حبمديSo my Lord is the most praised by me of all and most worthy of my praise

اللـهم اين اجد سبل المطالب اليك مشرعة O Allah I find the roads of wishes to You wide open

رعة و مناهل الرجاء لديك متـAnd the rivers of hope to You vast and running

و االستعانة بفضلك لمن املك مباحة And counting on Your bountifulness (in times of need) for those who wished You freely accessible

و ابواب الدعاء اليك للصارخني مفتوحة And the gates of prayer to those who are disparate wide ajar

و اعلم انك للراجني مبوضع اجابةAnd I know that You are for those who ask You in the position of answer

و للملهوفني مبرصد اغاثةAnd for those who are distressed You are in a posture of rescue

ان يف اللهف اىل جودك و الرضاو And in disparately seeking Your generosity and being content with Your judgement

بقضائك عوضا من منع الباخلني I find it compensating from the rejection of the misers

دي المستأثرين و مندوحة عما يف اي and more satisfying than the handouts of the selfish

و ان الراحل اليك قريب المسافة And truly travelling to You is short in duration

و انك ال حتتجب عن خلقك and You do not veil Yourself from Your creatures

إال ان حتجبـهم االعمال دونك unless their own misdeeds would block them from You

و قد قصدت اليك بطلبيتAnd I have sought You for my wish

و تـوجهت اليك حباجيتand directed my need to You

ستغاثيتو جعلت بك ا and I depend on You for my rescue

و بدعائك تـوسلي من and I assign my pleading to You by praying to You

غري استحقاق الستماعك مين doing this while knowing that I am not worthy of Your listening to me

عفوك عين و ال استيجاب ل nor do I have a right on You to pardon me

بل لثقيت بكرمك but I do so because I trust in Your generosity

و سكوين اىل صدق و عدك and I submit to Your true promise (to answer our prayers)

بتـوحيدك وجلائي اىل االميان and I take refuge through believing in Your unity

و يقيين مبعرفتك مين ان ال رب يل غيـرك and through my certainty of knowledge about You

و ال الـه إال انت وحدك ال شريك لك and that indeed I have no other god or lord but You only You there is no partner for You

اللـهم انت القائل و قـولك حق O my Lord You did say and all of what You say is true

و وعدك صدق and what You promise is unconditional that

فضله إن الله كان بكل شيء عليماواسألوا الله من ldquoO (believers) ask Allah of His bounty for Allah is Merciful towards yourdquo

و ليس من صفاتك And it is not from Your features

يا سيدي ان تأمر بالسؤال و متنع العطية O my Master to order me to ask and prevent the answer

و انت المنان بالعطيات على اهل مملكتك and You are the Grantor of all bounties on all residents of Your kingdom

و العائد عليهم بتحنن رأفتك and the Giver of Your consoling tenderness

اهلي ربـيتين يف نعمك و احسانك صغريا O my Lord You have brought me up in Your gifts and bounties since I was youthful

و نـوهت بامسي كبريا and elevated my designation as I grew older

نيافيا من رباين يف الد So O the One who brought me up in this life

باحسانه و تـفضله و نعمه with His benevolence bountifulness and blessings

و اشار يل يف االخرة اىل عفوه و كرمه and indicated to me His forgiveness and generosity in the hereafter

معرفيت يا موالي دليلي عليك My knowledge O my Master is that which guides me to You

و حيب لك شفيعي اليك and my love is my intercessor to You

و انا واثق من دليلي بداللتك and I am trusting of my evidence with Your guidance

و ساكن من شفيعي اىل شفاعتك and comfortable of my intercessor with Your intercession

ادعوك يا سيدي بلسان قد اخرسه ذنـبه I pray to You O my master with a tongue that has been paralyzed by its sin

اناجيك بقلب قد اوبـقه جرمه رب O my Lord I confide to You with a heart that has been doomed by its mischief

ادعوك يا رب راهبا راغبا I pray to You O my Lord frightened but wishful

راجيا خائفا hopeful but fearful

رايت موالي ذنويب فزعت اذا If I contemplate my sins O my Lord I become scared

و اذا رايت كرمك طمعت but when I remember Your generosity I yearn

ر راحم فان عفوت فخيـSo if You forgive You are the most merciful

ر ظامل و ان عذبت فـغيـ and if You punish You have not unjustly judged

حجيت يا اهللا يف جرأيت على مسألتك My excuse O Allah in my daring to ask You

مع اتياين ما تكره جودك و كرمك even though I have committed what You hate is Your benevolence and generosity

و عديت يف شديت مع قلة and my preparation for my adversity given that I lack shyness (in committing sin)

حيائي رأفـتك و رمحتك is Your forbearance and mercy

ييتو قد رجوت ان ال ختيب بـ ني ذين و ذين منـ And I am wishful that my hope will not be disappointed

فحقق رجائيso fulfill my ambition

ر من دعاه داع ع دعائي يا خيـ و امسand accept my prayer O The Best who was ever prayed to

راج و افضل من رجاه O The Most bountiful who was ever wished

عظم يا سيدي امليMy hope my Master is ever great

و ساء عمليbut my deeds have worsened

فاعطين من عفوك مبقدار امليso grant me from Your pardon by as much as I had hoped

ال تؤاخذين بأسوء عمليو and please do not judge me by my worst mischief

فان كرمك جيل عن جمازاة المذنبني for Your generosity is greater than punishing the sinners

و حلمك يكبـر عن مكافاة المقصرين and Your forbearance and patience is higher than recompensing the inadequate

و انا يا سيدي عائذ بفضلك I am my Master seeking refuge through Your bountifulness

هارب منك اليك I am escaping from You to You

ز ما وعدت من الص فح متـنج while anticipating Your promise to forgive

عمن احسن بك ظنا those who possessed good convictions toward You

و ما انا يا رب و ما خطريWho am I my Lord and what is my danger

هبين بفضلك Provide me with Your bounties

تصدق علي بعفوك و and grant me charity with Your pardon

اي رب جللين بسرتك O my Lord cover me with Your protection

و اعف عن تـوبيخي بكرم وجهك and pardon me of my punishment by the honour of you face

رك ما فـعلته فـلو اطلع اليـوم على ذنيب غيـ For if any one today other than You would have known of my sin I would not have sinned

و لو خفت تـعجيل العقوبة الجتـنبته And if I feared that You may hasten my punishment I would have avoided sinning

ال النك اهون الناظرين و اخف المطلعني Not because You are not an important watcher nor an unworthy onlooker

ر الساترين بل النك يا رب خيـbut because You my Lord are the best secret keeper

احكم احلاكمني و and the Wisest of all rulers

و اكرم االكرمني and Most generous of all generous

ستار العيوب O Protector of secrets

غفار الذنوب O Oft‐forgiver of sins

عالم الغيوب O Knower of all that is hidden

تستـر الذنب بكرمك You protect the secretive sin with Your generosity

ر العقوبة حبلمك و تـؤخ and You delay my punishment with Your patience

فـلك احلمد على حلمك بـعد علمك So to You extends all the Praise for having known and yet been patient

و على عفوك بـعد قدرتك and for having pardoned even though You are capable (of punishing)

و حيملين و جيرئين على معصيتك حلمك عين And what motivates and dares me to disobey You is Your patience with me

رك علي و يدعوين اىل قلة احلياء ستـand what invites me to the lack of shyness (from You) is Your protection of my (concealed) sins

و يسرعين اىل التـوثب And what rushes me towards Your forbidden actions

ى حمارمك معرفيت بسعة رمحتك عل is my awareness of the vastness of Your mercy

و عظيم عفوك and the greatness of Your forgiveness

يا حليم يا كرمي O Forbearer O Generous

يا حي يا قـيوم O One who is living and self‐subsisting

يا غافر الذنب O Forgiver of sin

يا قابل التـوب O Accepter of repentance

يا عظيم المن O Greatest giver of all good

يا قدمي االحسان O Ancient in bountifulness

اين ستـرك اجلميل I call upon Your beautiful protection of secrets

اين عفوك اجلليل I call upon Your abundant pardon

اين فـرجك القريب I call upon Your neighbouring relief

اين غياثك السريع I call upon Your quick rescue

اين رمحتك الواسعة I call upon Your vast mercy and compassion

اين عطاياك الفاضلة I call upon Your bountiful gifts

اين مواهبك اهلنيئة I call upon Your blessed awards

اين صنائعك السنية I call upon Your splendid favours

اين فضلك العظيم I call upon Your immense bountifulness

اين منك اجلسيم I call upon Your enormous endowments

اين احسانك القدمي I call upon Your ancient benefaction

اين كرمك يا كرمي I call upon Your benevolence O Most Generous

به فاستـنقذينBy it (what I mentioned of Your features) I seek Your rescue

و برمحتك فخلصينand by Your compassion please relieve me

يا حمسن يا جممل O Benevolent O Creator of beauty

يا منعم يا مفضل O Benefactor O Bountiful

اتكل يف النجاة من عقابك على اعمالنالست I do not depend on our (good) deeds to achieve salvation from Your punishment

بل بفضلك عليناrather I trust it to Your bountifulness toward us

رة تـبدئ النك اهل التـقوى و اهل المغف for You are the Lord of righteousness and the Lord of forgiveness You initiate

باالحسان نعما Your giving through Your graciousness

و تـعفو عن الذنب كرما and You pardon sin with Your generosity

فما ندري ما نشكر and we do not know what we should praise more

امجيل ما تـنشر is it the beauties that You distribute

ام قبيح ما تستـر or the sins whose secretiveness You protect

ام عظيم ما ابـليت و اوليت or the greatness of what You have granted and fulfilled

ام كثري ما منه جنيت و عافـيت or the many misfortunes You have averted and ills You have cured

يا حبيب من حتبب اليك O The lover of whomever endeared You

ليك و يا قـرة عني من الذ بك و انـقطع ا O The delight of the eye of who sought You for refuge and dedicated himself to You

انت الحمسن و حنن المسيؤن فـتجاوز You are the well doer and we are the sinners So pardon

يا رب عن قبيح ما عندنا جبميل ما عندك O my Lord the ugly that we have with the beauties that You have

و اي جهل يا رب ال يسعه جودك And what ignorance O my Lord can not be accommodated by Your benevolence

او اي زمان اطول من اناتك And what era is longer than Your patience

و ما قدر اعمالنا يف جنب نعمك And what significance is our deeds compared with Your awards

ا كرمك و كيف نستكثر اعماال نقابل And how can we hail our good deeds when we observe Your generosity

ف يضيق على المذنبني ما وسعهم من رمحتك بل كي Yet how can sinners despair when they are encompassed by Your vast mercy

يا واسع المغفرة O Vast Forgiver

يا باسط اليدين بالرمحة O Extender of both hands with mercy

عزتك يا سيديفـو I swear with Your exalted might O Master

لو نـهرتين ما برحت من بابك that if You rebuked me I would not depart from Your door

و ال كففت عن متلقك and I wont cease to compliment

المعرفة جبودك و كرمك لما انـتهى ايل من You since I have indeed come to grasp the knowledge of Your generosity and benevolence

و انت الفاعل لما تشاء And You are the doer of whatever You desire

تـعذب من تشاء مبا تشاء كيف تشاء You punish whomever You wish with whatever You wish and however You wish

و تـرحم من تشاء مبا تشاء كيف تشاء and You bestow Your mercy on whomever You wish with whatever You wish and however You wish

ال تسأل عن فعلك You are never questioned about Your doings

و ال تنازع يف ملكك neither is there any struggle in Your kingdom

و ال تشارك يف امرك nor is there any partnership in Your command

و ال تضاد يف حكمك or conflict in Your judgement

عليك احد يف تدبريك و ال يـعرتض and no one can oppose You in Your disposition of affairs

لك اخللق و االمر To You belongs all of the creation and command

تبارك اهللا رب العالمني Indeed Allah the Most Glorious is the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds

يا رب هذا مقام من الذ بك O my Lord This is the posture of the one who

و استجار بكرمك sought refuge through You and allied himself with Your generosity

و الف احسانك و نعمك and became accustomed to Your forbearance and favours

و انت اجلواد الذي ال يضيق عفوك And You are the benevolent whose forgiveness is never strained

و ال يـنـقص فضلك neither are Your bounties ever decreasing

رمحتك و ال تقل nor is Your mercy ever lacking

و قد تـوثـقنا منك بالصفح القدمي And we have known with certainty

و الفضل العظيم of Your ancient pardon

و الرمحة الواسعة great bountifulness and vast mercy

ختلف ظنوننا افـرتاك يا رب Would You O Allah ever disappoint our thoughts

او ختيب آمالناor let down our hopes

كال يا كرمي No never O Most Generous

فـليس هذا ظننا بك for it is not what we expect of You

ب و ال هذا فيك طمعنا يا ر nor is it what we aspire for O Allah

ان لنا فيك امال طويال كثريا we have a greater and ever lasting hope in You

ان لنا فيك رجاء عظيما We anticipate prolonged and immense prospect in You We anticipate great desire in You

عصيناك و حنن نـرجو ان تستـر عليناWe disobeyed You and now we wish that You protect our secret (sins)

و دعوناك و حنن نـرجو ان تستجيب لناAnd we prayed to You and we hope You would answer us

افحقق رجاءنا موالن So fulfill our aspiration O our Master

فـقد علمنا ما نستـوجب باعمالناfor otherwise we realise (the punishment) we deserve as a result of our bad deeds

و لكن علمك فينا و علمنا بانك But Your awareness of our conduct and our knowledge that

ال تصرفنا عنك حثنا على الرغبة اليك You indeed wont send us away from You has motivated us to seek You

ر مستـوجبني لرمحتك و ان كنا غيـand even though we are not worthy of Your mercy

اهل ان جتود علينافانت You are worthy of bestowing Your generosity on us

و على المذنبني بفضل سعتك and on all the sinners due to Your vast compassion

فامنن علينا مبا انت اهله So award us with what You are worthy of

و جد علينا فانا حمتاجون اىل نـيلك and grant us for we are in need of Your bounty

يا غفار بنورك اهتديناO Most Forgiving With Your light we were guided

و بفضلك استـغنـيناand with Your bounties we became richer

و بنعمتك اصبحنا و امسيناand with Your favours we are encountered mornings and evenings

ذنوبنا بـني يديك نستـغفرك اللهم منها و نـتوب اليك Our sins are before You and we ask You O Master for forgiveness and we hereby repent

تـتحبب الينا بالنـعم و نعارضك بالذنوب You befriend us with Your gifts but we reward You by sins

رك الينا نازل خيـYour bounty to us is ever descending

و شرنا اليك صاعد but our mischief to You is (ever) ascending

و مل يـزل و ال يزال ملك كرمي يأتيك عنا بعمل قبيحAnd from before and until now Your honoured angel still brings You the news of our ugly

فال مينـعك ذلك من ان حتوطنا بنعمك deeds but that does not prevent You from continuing to surround us with Your grace

و تـتـفضل علينا بآالئك And kindly provide us with Your holy features

فسبحانك ما احلمك So I glorify and praise You for the extent of Your patience

مك مبدئا و معيدا و اعظمك و اكر greatness and generosity as a Beginner (of creation ) and eventual Claimer of this world

تـقدست امساؤك و جل ثناؤك Holiest are Your names And glorified is Your praise

و كرم صنائعك و فعالك And honoured are Your favours and good deeds

انت اهلي اوسع فضال You my Lord are more vast in bounty and greater in patience

و اعظم حلما من ان تقايسين بفعلي و خطيـئيتand clemency than to judge me according to my wrong doing and fault So I beg You

فالعفو العفو العفو Forgiveness forgiveness forgiveness

سيدي سيدي سيديO my Master O my Master O my Master

اللـهم اشغلنا بذكرك O Lord Occupy our time with Your remembrance

و اعذنا من سخطك And guard us from Your wrath

و اجرنا من عذابك And protect us from Your punishment

و ارزقنا من مواهبك And grant us from Your rewards

فضلك و انعم علينا من And award us from Your bounties

و ارزقنا حج بـيتك And provides us the means to conduct pilgrimage to Your house (Kaba)

و زيارة قـرب نبيك صلواتك و رمحتك and to visit the tomb of Your Prophet may Your peace mercy

و مغفرتك و رضوانك عليه و على اهل بـيته forgiveness and graciousness be bestowed upon him and his family

انك قريب جميب Indeed You are close and forthcoming with Your answer (to our prayers)

تك و ارزقنا عمال بطاع And assist us in abiding by Your obedience

و تـوفنا على ملتك and claim our souls while we are in Your (righteous) congregation

و سنة نبيك صلى اهللا عليه و آله and followers of the tradition of Your Prophet may peace of Allah be upon him and his family

اللـهم اغفر يل و لوالدي O Lord Forgive me and my parents

و ارمحهما كما ربياين صغريا and grant them mercy as they have raised me since I was youthful

بالسيئات غفرانا اجزمها باالحسان احسانا و reward their good deeds with bountifulness and (pardon) their sins with forgiveness

هم و االموات اللـهم اغفر للمؤمنني و المؤمنات االحياء منـO Lord Forgive the believers be they men or women living or dead

نـهم باخلريات ننا و بـيـ و تابع بـيـand let us follow on their path with good deeds

اللـهم اغفر حلينا و ميتناO Lord Forgive (for) the living or deceased of us

و شاهدنا و غائبنا(believers) the present and the absent

ذكرنا و انثاناour male and female

صغرينا و كبريناour young and old

حرنا و مملوكناour free and our slave

كذب العادلون باهللا و ضلوا ضالال بعيدا Indeed the antagonists of Allah lied and enormously wandered astray

و خسروا خسرانا مبينا and incurred a major loss

اللـهم صل على حممد و آل حممدO Lord Bestow Your peace on Muhammad and his family

و اختم يل خبري and conclude my life in virtue

و اكفين ما امهين من امر دنياي و آخريتand resolve what worries me from the affairs of this life and in the hereafter

و ال تسلط علي من ال يـرمحينand do not allow anyone who wont treat me justly to come in contact with me

و اجعل علي منك واقية باقية and provide me with Your everlasting protection

و ال تسلبين صالح ما انـعمت به علي and do not deprive me of the best of the amenities You graced me with

و ارزقين من فضلك رزقا واسعا حالال طيبا and confer on me from Your bounties vast awards that are lawful and good

اللـهم احرسين حبراستك O Lord Guard me with Your safeguard

و احفظين حبفظك And protect me with Your protection

و اكالين بكالئتك And ally me with Your alliance

و ارزقين حج بـيتك احلرام And award me the ability to conduct pilgrimage to Your sacred house (Kaba)

يف عامنا هذا و يف كل عامin this year and in every year

ة عليهم السالم و زيارة قـرب نبيك و االئمand to visit the tomb of Your prophet and the Imams peace be upon them

و ال ختلين يا رب من تلك المشاهد الشريفة and do not deprive me Oh Lord from visiting these honourable sanctuaries

و المواقف الكرمية and noble positions

اللـهم تب علي حىت ال اعصيك O Lord Accept my repentance so that I may not disobey You

ر و العمل به مين اخليـ و اهل

And inspire me with righteousness and its implementation


21

و خشيتك بالليل و النهار ما ابـقيتينAnd the observance of Your presence in the night and the day as long as You let me live

رب العالمني O Allah and Cherisher of the worlds

قـلت قد تـهيأت اللـهم اين كلما O Lord I whenever I thought I was prepared and ready

و تـعبأت و قمت للصالة بـني يديك and rose to pray before Your hands

و ناجيتك القيت علي نعاسا اذا انا صليت and confided to You You cast sleep on me when I prayed

و سلبتين مناجاتك اذا انا ناجيت and You prevented me from confiding to You when I confided

مايل كلما قـلت قد صلحت سريريتWhy is it that whenever I felt content about the goodness of my core

قـرب من جمالس التـوابني جملسي و and my companionships have neared that of the repentants

عرضت يل بلية ازالت قدميa sin would occur and cause my feet to stumble

و حالت بـيين و بـني خدمتك and deprive me from Your service

سيدي لعلك عن بابك طردتينO my Master Maybe You have expelled me from Your door

و عن خدمتك حنيتينand retired me from Your service

او لعلك رايـتين مستخفا حبقك فاقصيتينor maybe You observed my disregard of Your right on me and thus distanced me

او لعلك رايـتين معرضا عنك فـقليتينor maybe You saw me headed away from (Your path) and thus You withdrew me

او لعلك وجدتين يف مقام الكاذبني فـرفضتينor maybe You found me to be in the position of the liars so You rejected me

ر شاكر لنـعمائك فحرمتين او لعلك رايـتين غيـor maybe You saw that I was not grateful of Your rewards so You deprived me

العلماء فخذلتين او لعلك فـقدتين من جمالس or maybe You observed my absence from the assembly of the scholars and thus put me down

او لعلك رايـتين ىف الغافلني or maybe You found me to be one of the unheeding so You despaired

فمن رمحتك آيستينme from Your mercy

او لعلك رايـتين آلف جمالس البطالني or maybe You found me frequenting the assembly of the unfaithful

نـهم خليتين فـبـيين و بـيـ so between me and them You deserted me

تسمع دعائي فباعدتيناو لعلك مل حتب ان or maybe You did not like to listen to my prayers so You distanced me

او لعلك جبرمي و جريريت كافـيتينor maybe You equated me with my crime and sin

او لعلك بقلة حيائي منك جازيـتينor maybe You punished me for my lack of shyness from You

فان عفوت يا رب فطاملا عفوت عن المذنبني قـبليSo if You forgive O Lord You have forgiven the many sinners before me

الن كرمك اي رب جيل عن مكافات المقصرين For Your generosity O Lord is higher than punishing the delinquents

و انا عائذ بفضلك and I am seeking refuge with Your bountifulness

هارب منك اليك and I am escaping from You to You

ز ما وعدت من الصفح عمن احسن بك ظنا متـنج and anticipating Your promise to pardon those who possessed good convictions about You

اهلي انت اوسع فضال O My Lord You are more vast in bountifulness and greater in patience

عملي او ان تستزلين خبطيئيتو اعظم حلما من ان تقايسين ب than to judge me according to my deed or to stumble me with my sin

و ما انا يا سيدي و ما خطريAnd who am I my Master and what is my danger

هبين بفضلك سيديaward me Your benevolence O my Master

و تصدق علي بعفوك and cover me with the protection

و جللين بسرتك of my secrets

و اعف عن تـوبيخي بكرم وجهك and pardon me from Your chastisement with Your benevolent face

ربـيته سيدي انا الصغري الذي O Master I am the young one whom You raised

و انا اجلاهل الذي علمته And I am the ignorant whom You educated

و انا الضال الذي هديـته And I am the misled whom You guided

و انا الوضيع الذي رفـعته And I am the humiliated one whom You elevated

و انا اخلائف الذي آمنته And I am the frightened one whom You safeguarded

و اجلايع الذي اشبـعته And the hungry one whom You fed

و العطشان الذي ارويـته And the thirsty whose thirst You quenched

و العاري الذي كسوته And the naked whom You dressed

و الفقري الذي اغنـيته And the poor whom You made wealthy

و الضعيف الذي قـويـته And the weak whom You strengthened

ليل الذي اعززته و الذAnd the insignificant whom You honored

و السقيم الذي شفيته And the sick whom You cured

و السائل الذي اعطيته And the beggar whom You provided charity to

و المذنب الذي ستـرته And the sinner whose secret You have protected

و اخلاطئ الذي اقـلته And the wrong doer whom You aided

و انا القليل الذي كثـرته And I am the little (creature) You made more significant

و المستضعف الذي نصرته And the oppressed whom You made victorious

نا الطريد الذي آويـته و ا And I am the escapee whom You gave refuge to

انا يا رب الذي مل استحيك ىف اخلالء I am the one O Allah who did not revere You (when I committed sins) in my seclusions

و مل اراقبك ىف المالء nor observed Your (commands) in public

انا صاحب الدواهي العظمىI am the possessor of the great craftiness (bad intentions)

انا الذي على سيده اجرتىI am the one who dared His Master

انا الذي عصيت جبار السماء I am the one who disobeyed the Commander of the skies

انا الذي اعطيت على معاصى اجلليل الرشاI am the one who dared His Master I am the one who disobeyed the Commander of the skies

ا خرجت اليها اسعى انا الذي حني بشرت I am the one who when I was forewarned about it (sins) I hastily raced to it

انا الذي امهلتين فما ارعويت I am the one whom You awaited (His reverence) but I did not comprehend

و ستـرت علي فما استحيـيت and You veiled my secret (sins) but I did not become demure

و عملت بالمعاصي فـتـعديت and I committed sins until I belligerently insisted

و اسقطتين من عينك فما باليت and You then disregarded me but I did not care

رتك ستـرتين حىت فبحلمك امهلتين و بس but with Your benevolence You postponed my punishment and with Your veil

كانك اغفلتينYou safeguarded my secret (sins) as if You have overlooked me

و من عقوبات المعاصي جنبتين حىت and You shielded me from punishment called upon me by my sins all to the extent that it appeared as if

كانك استحيـيتينYou shied off from me

اهلي مل اعصك حني عصيتك و انا بربوبيتك جاحد O my Lord I did not disobey You when I did because I rejected Your divinity

و ال بامرك مستخف or because I belittled Your commands

و ال لعقوبتك متـعرض or that I was daringly challenging Your punishment

و ال لوعيدك متهاون or that I did not appreciate Your forewarning

لكن خطيئة عرضت و سولت يل نـفسيYet the mistake has occurred and my self misled me

و غلبين هواي and my sinful desires won over me

و اعانين عليها شقويتand my misery helped me to it

رك المرخى علي و غرين ستـand Your protective veil over my sins lured me

فـقد عصيتك و خالفتك جبهديFor I have disobeyed You and opposed You with my own will

فاالن من عذابك من يستـنقذينand now from Your retribution who would rescue me

ايدي اخلصماء غدا من خيلصينو من and from the hands of Your angels of punishment tomorrow (in the hereafter)

لك عين و حببل من اتصل ان انت قطعت حبـwho would redeem me and with whose rope do I hold on to if You cut off Your rope from me

فواسواتا على ما احصى كتابك من عملي so what a pity for what Your book has recorded on me

الذي لوال ما ارجو من كرمك Indeed if it was not for my anticipation of Your generosity

و سعة رمحتك and vast mercifulness as well as Your ordering me not to lose hope (in Your salvation)

و نـهيك اياي عن القنوط لقنطت عندما اتذكرهاthat I would have despaired whenever I remembered it (my sin)

ر من دعاه داع يا خيـO the Best of whom a worshiper has ever prayed

و افضل من رجاه راجand the Foremost of whom anyone has wished

اللـهم بذمة االسالم اتـوسل اليك O Lord In the name of the esteemed Islam I implore You

عليك و حبرمة القرآن اعتمد And with the holy Quran I take witness to You

و حبيب النيب االمي القرشي اهلامشي And with my love for the unschooled Prophet (Muhammad) The Quraishian The Hashimite

المدين ارجو الزلفة لديك The Medinan I seek to be closer to You (I seek favor to You)

فال توحش استيناس امياينSo please do not disrupt the serenity of my faith

و ال جتعل ثوايب ثواب من عبد سواك And please do not cause my ultimate destiny to be similar to that of those who worshipped other than You

فان قـوما آمنوا بالسنتهم ليحقنواFor indeed there are some who believed only to the extent of their tongues

به دماءهم فادركوا ما املواso that they may save their lives and they gathered what they wished

و إنا آمنا بك بالسنتنا و قـلوبنا لتـعفو عناBut we have believed in You with our tongues and with our hearts so that You may pardon us

فادركنا ما املناSo grant us what we wish for

و ثـبت رجاءك يف صدورناAnd anchor our hope in You in our hearts

و ال تزغ قـلوبنا بـعد اذ هديـتناAnd do not let our hearts go astray after You have guided us

وهب لنا من لدنك رمحة انك انت الوهاب And grant us Your mercy Indeed You are the Utmost Granter

فـوعزتك لو انـتـهرتين ما برحت من بابك And I swear with Your glory that even if You send me away that I would not depart from Your door

و ال كففت عن متلقك لما اهلم قـليبand I would not cease to compliment You for my heart has been fully inspired

من المعرفة بكرمك و سعة رمحتك with the knowledge of Your benevolence and vastness of compassion

اىل من يذهب العبد إال اىل مواله To where would a slave go but to his master

و اىل من يـلتجئ الخملوق إال اىل خالقه To where would a creature seek refuge but to his Creator

اهلي لو قـرنـتين باالصفاد O my Lord Even if You tied me with the chains of hell

و منـعتين سيبك من بـني االشهاد And You deprived me Your flowing stream (of favors) from between the witnesses (of the day of Judgment)

و دللت على فضاحيي عيون العباد And You pointed out my scandals to the eyes of Your worshipers

و امرت يب اىل النار And You ordered me to hell

و حلت بـيين و بـني االبرار And You isolated me from the company of the faithfuls

ما قطعت رجائي منك I would not end my hope in You

و ما صرفت وجه تأميلي للعفو عنك and I would not dismiss my reassurance of Your pardon

و ال خرج حبك من قـليبand my love to You would not depart from my heart

انا ال انسى اياديك عنديI do not forget the helping hand You bestowed upon me

نيا رك علي يف دار الد و ستـand Your protection of my secrets in life

نيا من قـليب سيدي اخرج حب الدO my Master Remove the adoration of worldliness from my heart

و امجع بـيين و بـني المصطفى و آله And unite me with Mustafa (Muhammad the chosen messenger) and his family

خيـرتك من خلقك و خامت النبيني the dearest of Your creatures and the last of the prophets

حممد صلى اهللا عليه و آله Muhammad Peace from Allah upon him and his family

و انـقلين اىل درجة التوبة اليك And transfer me to the level of repentance to You

و اعين بالبكاء على نـفسيAnd help me to cry for myself

فـقد افـنـيت بالتسويف و االمال عمريfor I have wasted my life away with procrastination and false hopes

و قد نـزلت منزلة االيسني من خرييAnd now I have come to You hopeless of my goodness

يكون اسوأ حاال مين إن انا نقلت على مثل حايل اىل قـربيفمن Who is more worse off than me if now I am passed on in my present state to a grave

ده لرقديت مل امهthat I have not prepared for my repose

ل الصالح لضجعيتو مل افـرشه بالعم and I did not line with good deeds for my drowse

و ال ادري اىل ما يكون مصريي و مايل ال ابكي And why would I not weep for I have no knowledge of my fate

و ارى نـفسي ختادعينand I observe my self deceiving itself

و ايامي ختاتلينand my days are fading away

و قد خفقت عند رأسي اجنحة الموت and the wings of death have flapped close by

فمايل ال ابكيSo why wouldnt I cry

ابكي لخروج نـفسيI cry for surrendering my life

ي لظلمة قـربيابك I cry because of the darkness of my grave

ابكي لضيق حلديI cry because of the narrowness of my grave

ابكي لسؤال منكر و نكري اياي I cry for the questioning of Munkar and Nakeer of me

عريانا ابكي خلروجي من قـربي I cry from my leaving my grave (in the hereafter) naked

ذليال حامال ثقلي على ظهريhumiliated and carrying my book (of deeds) on my back

انظر مرة عن مييين و اخرى عن مشايلI look to the right once and to the left once and I discover

اذ اخلالئق يف شأن غري شأينthat people today have other concern than mine

هم يـومئذ شأن يـغنيه لكل امرئ منـ ldquofor every person that day has a concern of his own

وجوه يـومئذ مسفرة some faces today are bright

ضاحكة مستبشرة laughing and joyful

ها غبـرة و وجوه يـومئذ عليـ while other faces that day are dusty

و ذلة قـتـرة تـرهقها قـتـرة loaded with submissionrdquo and humility

سيدي عليك معويلO Master I settle my destination

و معتمدي و رجائي و تـوكليdependence hope and reliance upon You

و برمحتك تـعلقيAnd with Your mercy I cling

اء تصيب برمحتك من تش You bestow Your mercy on whomever You please

و تـهدي بكرامتك من حتب and You guide with Your benevolence whomever You like

فـلك احلمد على ما نـقيت So praise to You for Your purifying my heart

من الشرك قـليبfrom taking false partners to You

و لك احلمد على بسط لساينAnd praise to You for releasing my tongue

افبلساين هذا الكال اشكرك Is it with this heavy tongue of mine I thank You

ام بغاية جهدي يف عملي ارضيك or with the utmost effort of mine do I satisfy You

و ما قدر لساين يا رب يف جنب شكرك And what is the value of my tongue O Lord when it comes to thanking You

و ما قدر عملي يف جنب نعمك و احسانك And what is the value of my good deeds beside Your gifts and fortitude with me

اهلي ان جودك بسط امليO my Lord Indeed Your generosity has expanded my hope (in You)

و شكرك قبل عمليAnd your acceptance has led to the taking of my deed

سيدي اليك رغبيتO my Master To You I direct my aim

و اليك رهبيتand fear

و اليك تأميليand meditation

و قد ساقين اليك امليAnd my hope has driven me to You

و عليك يا واحدي عكفت مهيتAnd on You O Mighty One I concentrate my initiative

و فيـما عندك انـبسطت رغبيتAnd upon what You possess I unfolded my desire

و لك خالص رجائي و خويفAnd my ultimate hope and fear rest upon You

و بك أنست حمبيتAnd with You I cheerfully contemplated Your adoration

و اليك القيت بيديAnd I spread my hands wide open to You

و حببل طاعتك مددت رهبيتAnd with the rope of Your obedience I eased my fear

يا موالي بذكرك عاش قـليبO my Lord In Your remembrance my heart flourished

و مبناجاتك بـردت امل اخلوف عين And in confiding to You I relieved my pain of fright

فيا موالي و يا مؤمليSo O my Lord And O the One whom I hope

و يا منتهى سؤيل فـرق بـيينAnd O the One who is the Ultimate Destination and Grantor of my request

و بـني ذنيب المانع يل من لزوم طاعتك Separate between me and this sin of mine that disables me from abiding by Your obedience

ا اسالك لقدمي الرج اء فيك فامن For I only ask You due to the ancient and long resting of hope upon You as well

و عظيم الطمع منك as the great coveting of You

الذي اوجبته على نـفسك من الرأفة و الرمحة in what You obliged yourself with from compassion and mercy

فاالمر لك Evidently the command is yours

وحدك ال شريك لك for You are the only One without partners

و اخللق كلهم عيالك و يف قـبضتك and all creatures are in Your maintenance and within Your grip

و كل شيي خاضع لك and everything submits to You

تباركت يا رب العالمني blessed You are O Lord and Cherisher of the worlds

اهلي ارمحين اذا انـقطعت حجيتO my Lord Bestow Your mercy upon me when my excuses have failed

و كل عن جوابك لساينand when my tongue has ceased to be able to answer to You (on judgment day)

و طاش عند سؤالك اياي ليب and my intellect has subsided upon Your questioning

ال ختيبين اذا اشتدت فاقيتفيا عظيم رجائي So O to whom I submit my utmost hope do not disappoint me when my tragedy has intensified

و ال تـردين جلهليand do not reject me due to my ignorance and conceit

و ال متنـعين لقلة صربيand do not deprive me (Your mercy) due to my lack of patience

اعطين لفقري و ارمحين لضعفيand provide for me for I am poor and bestow Your mercy upon me for I am weak

سيدي عليك معتمدي و معويل و رجائي و تـوكليO my Master Upon You I rest my dependence destination hope and reliance


و بفنائك احط رحليAnd on Your grounds I conclude my journey

و جبودك اقصد طلبيتAnd to Your generosity I direct my request

و بكرمك اي رب استـفتح دعائيAnd with Your generosity O Allah I commence my prayer

و لديك ارجو فاقيتAnd with You I seek relief from my indigence

و بغناك اجبـر عيـليتAnd with Your wealth I mend my poverty

و حتت ظل عفوك قياميAnd under the shadow of Your pardon I stand

و اىل جودك و كرمك ارفع بصريAnd to Your generosity and benevolence I raise my eyesight

و اىل معروفك ادمي نظريAnd to Your favor I prolong my vision

فال حترقين بالنار و انت موضع امليSo burn me not in the hell fire because You are where I place my hope

و ال تسكىن اهلاوية فانك قـرة عيينAnd reside me not in the bottomless pit (hell) for You are indeed the comfort of my eye

يا سيدي ال تكذب ظين باحسانك O my Master Disappoint not my expectation in Your benevolence

و معروفك فانك ثقيتand known favor because You are my Confidant and Security

فانك العارف بفقريو ال حترمين ثوابك And do not deprive me of Your reward for You are Aware of my poverty

اهلي ان كان قد دنا اجلي و مل يـقربين منك عملي فـقد جعلت O my Lord If the end of my life has neared and my deeds did not bring me near You

االعرتاف اليك بذنيب وسائل علليthen I hereby render my admission of sin as my justification

اهلي ان عفوت فمن اوىل منك بالعفو O my Lord If You pardon (me) then no one is more worthy of pardoning than You


37

و ان عذبت فمن اعدل منك يف احلكم And if You punish (me) then no one is more just than You in judgment

نيا غربيت ارحم يف هذه الد(O Lord) have mercy toward my expatriation in this life

و عند الموت كربيتand my tragedy upon death

و يف القرب وحديتand my solitude in the grave

و يف اللحد وحشيتand my loneliness in the grave

و اذا نشرت للحساب بـني يديك and because whenever I am dispatched for judgment before Your hands

ذل موقفيmy situation is humiliated

و اغفر يل ما خفي على االدميني من عمليand forgive what is concealed from the humans of my (secretive bad) deeds

و ادم يل ما به ستـرتينand prolong for me what You veiled my (secret sins) with

و ارمحين صريعا and confer Your benevolence on me

على الفراش تـقلبين ايدي احبيتwhen I am motionless on the (death) bed so that the beloved of my relatives surround me

و تـفضل علي ممدودا على المغتسل and grant me Your bountifulness when I am stretched on the funeral bath

يـقلبين صالح جرييتso that the good deeded of my community may wash me


38

و حتنن علي حمموال قد and bestow Your kindred tenderness upon me when I am carried

اول االقرباء اطراف جنازيتتن while my relatives hand over the extremities of my coffin

و جد علي منـقوال قد نـزلت and award me Your generosity when I am transported

بك وحيدا يف حفريتand finally delivered and left alone in my grave

و ارحم يف ذلك البـيت اجلديد غربيتand have mercy on my solitary confinement in this new residence

حىت ال استانس بغريك so that I may not be comforted by anyone but You

يا سيدي ان وكلتين اىل نـفسي هلكت O my Master If You intrusted me (with my affairs) I would perish

سيدي فبمن استغيث ان مل تقلين عثـريتMy Master then whom do I seek rescue with if You would not avert my stumble

ضجعيتفاىل من افـزع ان فـقدت عنايـتك يف To whom would I seek shelter with if I lost Your kindred care in my dormancy

و اىل من التجئ ان مل تـنـفس كربيتTo whom would I resort to if You did not relieve my destitution

محينسيدي من يل و من يـرمحين ان مل تـر My Master Who will be on my side and who will bestow mercy on me if You do not

و فضل من اؤمل ان عدمت And whose bounties would I anticipate if I lacked

فضلك يـوم فاقيتYour grants on the day of my destitution (judgment day)


39

و اىل من الفرار من الذنوب اذا انـقضى اجليAnd to where shall I run away from my sins when my fate is concluded

سيدي ال تـعذبين و انا ارجوك My Master Punish me not while I am pleading to You

اهلي حقق رجائيO my Lord Fulfill my desire

و آمن خويفand secure my fright

فان كثـرة ذنويب ال ارجو فيها إال عفوك because I can not avert (the result of) my numerous sins except with Your pardon

سيدي انا اسالك ما ال استحق My Master I am asking You for what I do not deserve

و انت اهل التـقوى و اهل المغفرة but You are the Lord of righteousness and the Lord of forgiveness

فاغفر يل و البسين من نظرك ثـوبا يـغطي علي التبعات So forgive for me and veil me from Your sight with a cloak that masks all my liabilities

ا و تـغفرها يل و ال اطالب thus forgiving me so that I may never be reclaimed with it

انك ذو من قدميIndeed You are the possessor of ancient favor

صفح عظيمو great pardon

و جتاوز كرميand generous forgiveness

اهلي انت الذي تفيض سيبك O my Lord You are the One who overflows the streams (of favors)


40

على من ال يسألك و على اجلاحدين بربوبيتك on those who do not even implore You and on those who rejected Your divinity

فكيف سيدي مبن سألك So how would You not O Master grant the same to the one who implored You

و ايـقن ان اخللق لك and submitted with certainty that the creation is yours

و االمر اليك and the command is to You

تباركت و تعاليت يا رب العالمني Praised and glorified You are O Lord and Cherisher of the worlds

سيدي عبدك ببابك O my Master Your slave is at Your doorstep

صاصة بـني يديك أقامته اخل His desperate need has rooted him before Your hands

يـقرع باب احسانك بدعائه He knocks on the gate of Your generosity with his prayer and he solicits Your gracious consideration through his hearty anticipation

تـعرض بوجهك الكرمي عين فال So please do not turn Your honorable face away from me

و اقـبل مين ما اقول and accept from me what I plead for

ذا الدعاء و انا ارجو ان ال تـردين فـقد دعوت For I have pleaded with this prayer and I am hopeful that You would not turn me down

معرفة مين برأفتك و رمحتك since I have always known of Your benevolence and mercy

اهلي انت الذي ال حيفيك سائل O my Lord You are the one who is never burdened by the pleas of the beseecher


41

قصك نائل و ال يـنـnor are You ever encumbered in rewarding (Your) grantee

انت كما تـقول و فـوق ما نـقول Verily You are how You describe Yourself and above what we describe

يال اللـهم اين اسالك صربا مج O my Lord I ask You (to grant me) a rewarding patience

و فـرجا قريبا a neighboring relief

و قوال صادقا a true affirmation

و اجرا عظيما and a great reward

مل اعلم اسالك يا رب من اخلري كله ما علمت منه و ما I ask You O my Lord for all the good whether I know of it or not

اسالك اللهم من خري ما سألك I ask You O my Lord for the best of what have asked You

منه عبادك الصاحلون Your righteous believers

ر من سئل يا خيـ Olsquo the Foremost of whom was ever asked

و اجود من اعطىand the Most Generous that has ever given

اعطين سؤيل يف نـفسي و اهليFulfill my quest in myself my family

و والدي و ولدي و اهل حزانيت و اخواين فيك parents children proximate community and my brothers (and sisters) in You


42

و ارغد عيشيAnd enrich my living

و اظهر مرويتand ascend my bravery

و اصلح مجيع احوايلand improve all of my affairs

مره و اجعلين ممن اطلت ع And cause me to be a (person) whom You have destined to have prolonged his life

و حسنت عمله and improved his deeds

و امتمت عليه نعمتك and consummated Your gifts upon him

ة يف ادوم السرور و رضيت عنه و احيـيته حياة طيب and accepted his performance and made live a good life in permanent joy

و اسبغ الكرامة utmost integrity

و امت العيش and complete living

انك تـفعل ما تشاء و ال يـفعل ما يشاء غيـرك Indeed You do as You please and not as others please

اللـهم خصين منك خباصة ذكرك O Lord Distinguish me with Your distinctive remembrance

و ال جتعل شيئا مما اتـقرب به And do not allow any of what I seek closeness to You with (of good deeds)

يف آناء الليل و اطراف النهار رياء in the midst of nights or the extremes of days to be an object of pretension


43

و ال بطرا و ال اشرا و ال مسعة seeking of reputation arrogance or extravagance

وا جعلين لك من اخلاشعني And cause me to be of those who humble themselves to You

عة يف الرزق اللـهم أعطىن السO my Lord Award me vastness in sustenance

و االمن يف الوطن And security in my homeland

عني يف االهل و المال و الولد و قـرة ال And the comfort of the eye in family finances and offspring

و المقام يف نعمك عنديAnd the continued enjoyment of Your bounties

ة ىف اجلسم و الصحAnd health in the body

البدن و القوة يف and strength

و السالمة ىف الدين And safeguard in faith

و استـعملين بطاعتك و طاعة رسولك And forever utilize me in (establishing) Your obedience and that of Prophet

استـعمرتينحممد صلى اهللا عليه و آله ابدا ما Muhammad peace of Allah upon him and his household as ever long as You advance my age

و اجعلين من اوفر عبادك عندك نصيبا يف كل خري And compel me to have the biggest share among Your worshipers in whatever good

زلته و تـنزله يف شهر رمضان انـ You ever caused to descend and especially what You award in the month of Ramadan


44

لة القدر يف ليـin the Night of the Decree

و ما انت منزله يف كل سنة من رمحة تـنشرهاand what You are awarding every year from mercy that You dispense

و عافية تـلبسهاand good health that You harness

و بلية تدفـعهاand crises that You deter

و حسنات تـتـقبـلهاand good deeds that You accept and bless

عنهاو سيئات تـتجاوز and sins that You acquit

و ارزقين حج بـيتك احلرام And allot me with the ability to conduct pilgrimage to Your holy house

يف عامنا هذا و يف كل عامin this year and every year thereafter

فضلك الواسع و ارزقين رزقا واسعا من And grant me vast sustenance from Your vast bounties

و اصرف عين يا سيدي االسواء And protect me O my Master from encountering the misfortunes (of life)

ين و الظالمات و اقض عين الدAnd fulfill on my behalf all my borrowing and satisfy any injustice (I committed to others)

حىت ال اتاذى بشي منه so that I may not be harmed by any of it

و خذ عين بامساع و ابصار اعدائيAnd preoccupy the hearing and sight of my enemies


45

باغني علي و حسادي و ال and the jealous and those who oppress me

و انصرين عليهم and award me victory over them

و اقر عيين و فـرح قـليبAnd comfort my eye And delight my heart

و اجعل يل من مهي و كريب فـرجا و خمرجا And award me relief and resolution in all of my misfortunes and extremities

و اجعل من ارادين بسوء And compel any one who wishes me harm from all Your creatures

من مجيع خلقك حتت قدمي to be beneath my feet

الشيطان و اكفين شر And guard me from the evil of Satan

و شر السلطان and the evil of the monarch

و سيئات عمليas well as the evil brought about by my wrong doings

و طهرين من الذنوب كلهاAnd cleanse me from all sins

من النار بعفوك و اجرين And salvage me from the hell fire with Your (divine) pardon

و ادخلىن اجلنة برمحتك And award me paradise with Your mercy

و زوجين من احلور العني بفضلك And marry me to the companions with the beautiful big and lustrous eyes with Your bountifulness

و احلقين باوليائك الصاحلني And reunite me with Your righteous servants

حممد و آله االبرار الطيبني الطاهرين االخيار Muhammad and his household the righteous the virtuous the pure and the elite

صلواتك عليهم و على اجسادهم و ارواحهم و رمحة اهللا و بـركاته Your peace mercy and blessings be upon them their bodies and their souls

اهلي و سيدي و عزتك و جاللك O my Lord and my Master I swear with Your exalted might and majesty

لئن طالبتين بذنويب الطالبـنك بعفوك that if You reclaim my sins that I will call upon Your mercy

و لئن طالبتين بلؤمي الطالبـنك بكرمك and if You reclaim my meanness I will call upon Your generosity

و لئن ادخلتىن النار الخربن اهل النار حبيب لك and if You forward me to the hell fire I will inform its inmates about my adoration of You

اهلي و سيدي ان كنت ال تـغفر O my Lord and my Master If You were to not forgive

إال الوليائك و اهل طاعتك فاىل من يـفزع المذنبون but Your devotees and constant obeyers then to whom would the sinners resort to

و ان كنت ال تكرم إال اهل الوفاء And if You were to not honor but the people of loyalty to You

بك فبمن يستغيث المسيؤن then to whom the offenders would resort to

اهلي ان ادخلتىن النار ففي ذلك سرور عدوك O my Lord If You cause me to enter the hell fire it will be to the pleasure of Your enemy

و ان ادخلتىن اجلنة ففي ذلك سرور نبيك But if You cause me to enter paradise it will be to the pleasure of Your Prophet

اهللا اعلم ان سرور نبيك و انا و And verily Oh Allah I know that the pleasure of Your Prophet

احب اليك من سرور عدوك is more favorable to You than the pleasure of Your enemy

ا لك اللـهم اين اسالك ان متال قـليب حب O my Lord I ask You to saturate my heart with Your love

و خشية منك fearing and observing You

و تصديقا بكتابك believing in Your (holy) book

و اميانا بك faith in You

و فـرقا منك fright from You

و شوقا اليك and longing to You

يا ذا اجلالل و االكرام O the one who is full of majesty bounty and honor

حبب ايل لقاءك و احبب لقائيRender me loving of Your meeting and love my meeting

و الكرامة و اجعل يل يف لقائك الراحة و الفرج And grant me in meeting You comfort happiness and honor

اللـهم احلقين بصالح من مضىO my Lord Unite me with the virtuous of those who preceded me

و اجعلين من صالح من بقيAnd render me to be among the virtuous of who remained

و خذ يب سبيل الصاحلني And lead me to the way of the virtuous

و اعين على نـفسي مبا تعني And aid me in restraining myself (from sin) with whatever You aid

به الصاحلني على انـفسهم Your righteous believers with

و اختم عملي باحسنه And culminate my deeds with their best

و اجعل ثوايب منه اجلنة برمحتك And make my reward from it heaven with Your mercy

و اعين على صالح ما اعطيتينAnd assist me in implementing the virtues that You granted me

و ثـبتين يا رب And anchor me (on the right path) O Lord

قذتين منه و ال تـردين يف سوء استـنـAnd return me not to an error You rescued me from before

يا رب العالمني O the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds

اللـهم اين اسالك اميانا ال اجل له دون لقائك O my Lord I ask You to grant me a faith that has no maturity until I meet You

احيين ما احيـيتين عليه Prolong my life as long as You maintain me on it

اذا تـوفـيتين عليه و تـوفين and claim my soul as long as You claim my soul while it is on it (faith)

و ابـعثين اذا بـعثتين عليه and resurrect me as long as You resurrect me on it

و ابرىء قـليب من الرياء And purify my heart from pretension

و الشك و السمعة يف دينك doubt and seeking reputation through Your religion

حىت يكون عملي خالصا لك so that all my deeds would be solely intended for You

اللـهم اعطين بصرية يف دينك O my Lord Award me insight in Your religion

و فـهما يف حكمك And understanding in Your judgment

و فقها يف علمك And awareness in Your knowledge

و كفلني من رمحتك And surety in Your mercy

و ورعا حيجزين عن معاصيك And piety that shields me from committing sin

و بـيض وجهي بنورك And brighten my face with Your light

و اجعل رغبيت فيـما عندك And render my affinity solely in what You possess

و تـوفين يف سبيلك And claim my soul on Your path

رسولك صلى اهللا عليه و آله و على ملة and on the religion of Your Prophet Peace of Allah upon him and his household

اللـهم اين اعوذ بك من الكسل و الفشل و اهلم و اجلنب O my Lord I seek refuge with You from laziness failure misery cowardliness

و البخل و الغفلة و القسوة و المسكنة stinginess unawareness cruelty humility

و الفقر و الفاقة و كل بليةpoverty indigence and every calamity

ما بطن و الفواحش ما ظهر منها و and the exorbitant of sins whether they are apparent or concealed

و اعوذ بك من نـفس ال تـقنع And I seek refuge in You from a self that is never content

و بطن ال يشبع and a stomach that is never satisfied

شع و قـلب ال خي and a heart that is never pious

و دعاء ال يسمع and a prayer that is not accepted

و عمل ال يـنـفع and a deed that is not beneficial (if committed)

و اعوذ بك يا رب على نـفسي و ديين و مايلAnd I depend upon You O Lord to safeguard my self my religion my finances

و على مجيع ما رزقـتين من الشيطان الرجيم and all of what You awarded me from the evil of the cursed Satan

انك انت السميع العليم Indeed You are the One who hears and knows all things

اللـهم انه ال جيريين منك احد O my Lord Indeed no one can shield me from Your (punishment)

و ال اجد من دونك ملتحدا and I can not find before You any other shelter

سي يف شي من عذابك فال جتعل نـف So leave not in me any deed worthy of Your punishment

لكة و ال تـردين بعذاب اليم و ال تـردين and lead me not back into jeopardy and lead me not into painful retribution

رياللـهم تـقبل مين و اعل ذك O my Lord Accept my prayer And renown my commemoration

و ارفع درجيتAnd elevate my degree

و حط وزريAnd forgive my sin

و ال تذكرين خبطيئيتAnd remember me not with my bad deed

و اجعل ثواب جملسيAnd culminate the reward of my convening

و ثواب منطقي و ثواب دعائي رضاك و اجلنة my speaking and my prayer in Your satisfaction and heaven

و اعطين يا رب مجيع ما سالتك And award me O Lord all of what I asked You

و زدين من فضلك and increase it with Your bountifulness

اين اليك راغب يا رب العالمني Indeed I am truly full of desire toward You O Lord and Cherisher of the worlds

اللـهم انك انـزلت يف كتابك O my Lord You have revealed in Your (holy) book

ان نـعفو عمن ظلمناfor us to forgive those who committed injustice toward us

و قد ظلمنا انـفسنا فاعف عناand we have committed injustice (by sinning) toward ourselves so pardon our conduct

افانك اوىل بذلك من for You are more worthy of pardoning than we are

و امرتنا ان ال نـرد سائال عن ابوابناAnd You commanded us not turn away the needy who knock on our doors

و قد جئتك سائال فال تـردين إال بقضاء حاجيتand I hereby come to You needy so turn me not away until You fulfill my need

و امرتنا باالحسان اىل ما ملكت اميانناAnd You commanded us to treat justly those whose freedom reins we hold

و حنن ارقاؤك فاعتق رقابنا من النار and You hold our reins of freedom so liberate our necks from the hell fire

يا مفزعي عند كربيتO the Shelter I seek whenever I am in misfortune

و يا غوثي عند شديتO my Guardian from my hardship

اليك فزعت و بك استـغثت و لذت To You I resort and with You I appealed for help and sought refuge

ال الوذ بسواك And I would never seek anyone but You

و ال اطلب الفرج إال منك nor would I ever request relief but from You

فاغثين و فـرج عين So come to my aid and relieve me

يا من يـفك االسري O One who liberates the captives accepts the little (of good deeds)

و يـعفو عن الكثري اقـبل مىن اليسري and pardons the numerous (of sin) accept from me the little (good) I have done

و اعف عىن الكثري and forgive for me the numerous (sins I have committed)

انك انت الرحيم الغفور Indeed You are the Most Merciful and Oft‐forgiving

اللـهم اين اسالك اميانا تباشر به قـليبO my Lord I ask You to grant me a faith that You endure my heart on

و يقينا صادقا And a true certainty in believing

حىت اعلم انه لن يصيبين إال ما كتبت يلso that I may ascertain that indeed nothing will happen to me except for what You have destined for me

و رضين من العيش And award me contentment in my present living (and circumstances)

مبا قسمت يلwith whatever You have apportioned for me

و ال يوجد إال من عندك while none can be found except with You

و من اين يل النجاة و ال تستطاع إال بك And how can I seek salvation while it Can be granted by none but YOU

ال الذي احسن استـغىن عن عونك و رمحتك Neither can the good‐doer do without Your help and mercy

و ال الذي اساء و اجتـرأ عليك nor can the sinful one who offended You (when sinning)

و مل يـرضك خرج عن قدرتك and displeased You bypass the realm of Your power and capacity
