DSLR Photography Tips for Landscape Photography

Taking pictures is all about light therefore it is essential to know how light can have an impact on your photo. Try taking

some pictures of a park close to you at different times of the day and in dissimilar lighting circumstances to help you know

the effects of light. Take pictures from diverse angles under the sun, as; there is no substitute of practical experience. There

are many photography workshops or digital photography tutorials that provide you hands-on experience.

Following are Dslr photography tips for landscape photography :

First, know your camera – Try taking few pictures with your camera set to landscape and after that go for some taken at

diverse aperture settings, see what provides you

the finest consequences. Usually a small aperture

(high f number) will provide you the utmost

depth of field with more of your photograph in

focus.

Make use of a tripod particularly in low light

conditions and if you don’t have a shutter release

cable set your camera’s 2 second timer to on, to

stay away from any camera shake. If your camera

consists of image stabilization, you should set this

off when you are using your tripod.

Try taking your photographs by means of the rule of two thirds – try it with the sky as well as skyline in the top third, after

that try it with the sky as well as skyline in the top two thirds of the picture.

Frame the focal point - Capture your photographs in the magic hours. A lot of skilled photographers like to capture most of

their landscapes pictures a few hours after

sunrise or before dusk to get the finest lighting

effects.

While capturing photographs at dawn or

nightfall, try with the slow sync flash mode on

your digital camera to focus on the area near

you. This is mostly advantageous when you want

to use an object like a tree branch to frame the

sight.

Use high definition photography to draw out the

background and make your pictures colorful. If

you are not familiar with the term HDR – mostly

it consist of taking 3 shots of the scene with your

camera placed on a tripod. One shot is over

exposed as well as one shot is underexposed by

one stop and the last shot is at the right exposure. The shots are merged using HDR software to provide a broader tonal

range producing more bright images.

Think about using a graduated filter to highlight the sky. These filters are pretty economical and they are able to often help

stay away from that overblown sky.

When you’ve taken all your photographs, you can process them. It’s worthwhile to understand editing software like Photo

shop. If you don’t like software that is overly difficult to learn try Picasa by Google – that’s free, too.
