Prior toInstallationIR Sensor Knockout

Each speaker has a knockoutmolded into the speaker bafflethat will accommodate stan-dard 1⁄2-inch diameter infrared(IR) sensors. To use this feature:1. Lay the speaker face down

on corrugated cardboard.The packing material maybe used.

2. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriverand hammer to punch outthe knockout from behind.

3. Install the IR sensor.CAUTION: IR sensor rangeand operating angle will bereduced by the speaker grilleand cloth. IR sensor will workbest on-axis to the face of thespeaker. Test before installing.

Retrofit Installations1. Mark the outline of the

installation hole using thesupplied template. Make asmall hole at the center ofthe speaker location. Inserta long, bent piece of wireand rotate to confirm thatthere are no obstructionsbehind the chosen location.

2. Cut the installation hole. 3. Run the wire from the ampli-

fier location to the cutout.Allow for an extra foot ofwire at the cutout.

All Installations1. Strip 1⁄2-inch (13mm) of insu-

lation from the wire, andtwist the wire strandstogether. The DSi speakerjack will accept either barewire up to 14-gauge, or sin-gle banana plugs.

2. Connect the wire to thespeaker.

3. Slide the speaker into thecutout as shown.The speak-er must slide into the wallwoofer side first.

4. Tighten the Phillips mount-ing screws.

Important: Do not overtighten the screws.

If you wish to paint yourspeakers or grilles it should bedone prior to installation of thegrille. Please see the Paintinginstructions.

Wichtig: Die Schrauben nicht zufest anziehen.

Wenn die Lautsprecher oderZiergitter lackiert werden sollen,muss dies vor der Installation desZiergitters geschehen (sieheAnweisungen zum Lackieren).

Painting The Speaker Frame

The speakers may be paintedbefore or after they are installed.They are already primed.1. Insert the supplied paint mask

into the frame of the speaker.2. Paint the frame. If you are using

spray paint, apply two lightcoats. If you are applying paintwith a brush or roller, thin thepaint and apply two very lightcoats. This helps prevent exces-sive paint buildup or “runs” onthe frame.

3. After the paint has dried, usethe finger pulls to remove thepaint mask.

Painting the Speaker Grille1. Carefully remove the cloth from

the inside of the grille. Set itaside in a clean location for laterreinstallation.

2. Paint the grille. If you are usingspray paint, apply two lightcoats. If you are applying paintwith a brush or roller, thin thepaint and apply two very lightcoats. This helps prevent paintfrom filling the holes on thegrille.

3. After the paint is dry, reinstall thecloth and grille logo.

3. Cuando la pintura esté seca,vuelva a colocar la tela y el logo.

Peinture Coffrets desenceintes

1. Ôtez le tissu de l’intérieur de lagrille. Mettez-le de côté dans unendroit propre.

2. Peignez la grille. Si vous utilisezde la peinture au pistolet,appliquez deux couches légères.Si vous appliquez la peintureavec un pinceau ou un rouleau,diluez-la et appliquez deuxcouches très légères. Vouséviterez ainsi que la peinture neremplisse les trous de la grille.

3. Une fois que la peinture estsèche, réinstallez le tissu et lelogo de la grille.

Wenn Lackmit einem Pinsel oder einerWalze aus der Dose aufgetragenwird, verdünnen Sie erst denLack und tragen dann zwei ganzdünne Schichten auf.
