Subscriber Station type P3-Resistel

The Vodec P3-Resistel is an ATEX certifiedexplosion-proof telephone instrument designedto provide reliable two-way full duplex voicecommunications in severe climatic andindustrial environments.

The unit is certified to enable safe usage inZone 1 locations and has an extendedoperating temperature range. It is suitable foruse in saliferous salt laden atmospheres andhigh dust areas.

The P3- Resistel enclosure is totally rot-proofand features an immensely strong glass re-enforced polyester enclosure with stainlesssteel fittings. The unit is equipped with:

Stainless steel key pad dial enablingfully selective point-to-point discretecommunications

Two Push-to-Page keys which allow theuser to address public addressbroadcast zone(s) a

Telephone handset which facilitatesreception/transmission of PAX, Partyline and uni-directional Paging speech.

The handset is specifically designed to realisehigh intelligibility voice communications and thesteel wire armoured cord fitted ensures survivalin the most aggressive of service conditions.

An integral sounder provides a strident audibleringing alert with the possibility to extend to avisual and/or supplementary siren in locationswith severe ambient noise.

Operation in brief

PAX

In this mode a user lifts the P3-Resisteltelephone handset, dial tone is issued to thesubscribers handset earpiece prompting theuser to enter the telephone number of therequired extension. A ring tone is returned tothe user and the central equipment generatesringing voltage to signal the called subscriber.Upon pick up of the called telephone extension

handset, two-way full duplex voicecommunications is established. Once thecommunication is completed both parties returntheir handsets to the respective cradle and thesystem is returned to quiescent.

Paging

A P3-Resistel user has two dedicated Pagingkeys fitted which are additional to the standardkey pad fitted to regular telephone sets. Thesekeys give immediate access to theloudspeaker broadcast system on a Push totalk basis.

Paging key #1 addresses all paging zonesexcept those loudspeakers connected to zone1 and is intended to facilitate addressof non-critical messages

Paging key #2 addresses all zones and is ableto over-ride established paging from anothersubscriber and is configured to enableemergency speech address.

A P3-Resistel user lifts the telephone handset,dial tone is issued to the handset earpiece,user now depresses the required Push toPage key selector and audio fromthe receiveris issued to the selected loudspeaker groups.

Loudspeakers sited in the vicinity of a livehandset microphone are muted to preventacoustic feedback for the duration of thebroadcast (in certain applications systemarchitecture can be simplified by incorporation

of a Vodec Feedback Elimination processorwhich is sited alongside the P3-VXS switch inthe central panel).

Release of the Push to Page keyautomatically routes the P3-Resistelsubscriber to the Party bus within the P3-VXScentral switch. Please see Vodec Data SheetDS0320 P3-VXS Page-Party IntercomSystem and Vodec Data Sheet DS011 VodecP3 Integrated Public Address and Page/Party

Party communicationsHaving issued a Page broadcast the userstelephone handset is routed to an openchannel Party line. Other P3 subscribers canimmediately join the P3-VXS Party bus bylifting the respective handsets andmomentarily depressing any Page key.Communication is now established on a fullduplex non private non selective basis. Once

P3 users return the handsets on hook theconnection to the Party bus is removed andthe system returns to quiescent ready for thenext PAX call.
