The March outing to Coolgardie wasn't that bad after all.

It rained and snowed on Friday, but Saturday was very nice. There were only 3 members/families, who camped over night and 5 or 6 that just came out for the day on either Saturday or Sunday. No Pot Luck Saturday night. We also gained some new members.

E-mail from Kent Bryant

Got a call from Kammi Foote, Inyo County Clerk Recorder, She is opposing this fee increase on Mining notices. Asked me to pass this along to some in the mining Community to help oppose this Bill.

4. Resource related industries would be unreasonably impacted Many California mines provide valuable resources that cannot be found in other parts of the world. In order to locate and hold a mining claim in California, notices must be filed annually by prescribed deadlines. Mines are often held and worked by small independent prospectors who are trying to eke out a meager living. If a miner cannot afford to file his annual notice in the time period required by law, he will lose his rights to work his claim. Requiring resource related industries to pay an additional $75 per document, per year, would create an unreasonable burden on this valuable industry.

Prez Says –

Sorry I missed the meeting in March – I understand Dunk did a great job of managing the board and general meeting and the presentation by George Howison was great. Dunk has some great speakers lined up for us again in the coming months. Unfortunately, I will be away on business again in April – Dunk will take the helm again, but I have great faith in him.

I want to extend a special thank you to Mike Knudson. He has taken over the care and feed of the Valley Prospectors webpage and what a great job he is doing. We have a new look and some great information available at your finger tips. You can now reach us at http://valleyprospectors.net or https://valleyprospectors.com . The maps to the claims is password protected. I will be working to get this information distributed to members only.

April will be a busy month. There are multiple events, so check out the calendar of events. Thanks to all our volunteers – we couldn’t do it without you.

Always looking for that “Big Gold”, Lorraine Frost
