What are drugs? A medicine or other substance which
has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body
Types of Drugs
Stimulants: Cocaine Crack cocaine Amphetamines (methamphetamine,
ecstasy) Nicotine

Depressants: Heroin Barbiturates – Oxycodone,
Morphine, Codeine, Valium Xanax

Effects on the body
In low doses:a relaxing effect reduced tension lower inhibitions impaired concentration impaired reaction time reduced coordination

Addicted?
Withdrawal symptoms include shaking (tremors), sleep problems, and nausea.
More severe withdrawal symptoms include hallucinations and even seizures.

Central nervous systemAccelerates the loss of brain cells,
contributing to cognitive deficits. Chronic use can lead to brain damage.
LiverCauses the liver to have to work
harder then possibly causing significant damage or liver failure
Effects On the Body Kidneys
Chronic use of alcohol Impairs their ability to regulate the volume and composition of fluid and electrolytes in the body.
Heart Drug use increases the risk of heart
disease. Injected drugs can also lead to
collapsed veins and infections of the blood vessels and heart valves

Why You Should Not Smoke
Smoking gives you bad breath Smoking makes your clothes and hair smell Smoking turns your teeth and fingernails

lots of phlegm. Really attractive! Smoking zaps your energy for sports and
other activities.
