Anti-anginals Acute angina attacks Contraindicated to patients with cardiogenic shock, circulatory collapse, severe hypotension, marked anemia, head trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, severe hypovolemia
It relaxes the vascular smooth muscle and consequent dilatation of peripheral arteries and veins.
Instructed the patient to take without regard to meals. Absorption is faster on empty stomach.
Monitor blood pressure and intensity and duration of drug response
Magnesium sulfate
Anticonvulsant IV or IM: preeclampsia or eclampsia
Contraindicated with allergy to magnesium products; heart block, myocardial damage; fecal impaction, intestinal and biliary tract obstruction
Prevents or controls seizures by blocking neuromuscular transmission; attracts and retains water in the intestinal lumen and distends bowel to promote mass movement and relieve constipation
Monitor patients closely during and following infusions. Observe orthostatic precautions
