Drop Test 1.0 Abstract

1.1 Object

Subject three Seahorse Cases to a Drop Test as specified in MIL-STD-3010C, dated August 1, 2013, Method 5007, Level A, as requested in Seahorse Protective Equipment Cases purchase order 22660, dated February 12, 2019.

1.2 Conclusions The expandable handle of test unit UUT-58687-4 ejected several times during testing, the handle was closed after each ejection, and testing continued; the handles of the other test units did not eject during testing. No significant damage to the test units was observed after all twenty-six drops, only minor scuffing and scratching was noted. All three test units functioned properly upon completion of the test.

3.0 Test requested Subject three Seahorse Cases to a Drop Test as specified in MIL-STD-3010C, dated August 1, 2013, Method 5007, Level A. The specimen is allowed to drop freely from 36 inches onto each flat face, edge, and corner, for a total of twenty-six drops.

4.0 Instrumentation, procedure performed, and results

4.1 Instrumentation

All instrumentation is calibrated regularly by instruments directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and in accordance with ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006, and ISO/IEC 17025: 2005.

4.2 Procedure

Each test unit was tested individually. The first test unit was subjected to twenty-six drops from a height of 36 inches, drops on each flat face, edge, and corner. After each drop, the test unit was visually examined for damage and the test unit functionality was checked. The procedure outlined above was repeated with the remaining test unit.

4.3 Results The expandable handle of test unit UUT-58687-4 ejected several times during testing, the handle was closed after each ejection, and testing continued; the handles of the other test units did not eject during testing. No significant damage to the test units was observed after all twenty-six drops, only minor scuffing and scratching was noted. All three test units functioned properly upon completion of the test. The test units were retained at Element Minneapolis. Test data and photographs are included in the following pages.
