BAC• BAC stands for blood alcohol content
• BAC is how much alcohol is in your bloodstream
• With a legal driving BAC of .08 you have slower reactions and impaired vision and decision making
• At a BAC of .35 you will probably be in a coma and very close to death
• Many things may affect your BAC such as weight, gender, and age
DUI• The legal BAC while driving is .08
• If caught DUI it is a second degree misdemeanor
• A maximum penalty of 2 years in jail
• You may have to pay a maximum fine of 5,000 dollars
• Also you can face up to a minimum of of 48 hours in jail
• You may face a minimum fine of 300 dollars
Underage Drinking• The legal drinking age is 21
• You cannot purchase alcohol till the age of 21
• You cannot possess alcohol until the age of 21
• If convicted of underage drinking you can face a maximum of 90 days in jail
• You can also pay up to a 300 dollar fine
• You will also receive a criminal record
Stats of Alcohol and Driving• In 2012 404 people were killed in alcohol related crashes
• 75% of drinking drivers are males
• On an average day 33 alcohol related crashes occur
• 1.1 people are killed in alcohol related crashes everyday
• On an average day 24 people are injured in alcohol related crashes
• Alcohol related crashes are 4.2 times more likely to end in fatality than a normal crash
