End-User License Agreement

Important – Please read before installing or using software program.

This License Agreement allows you to use the COMPUAPPS software program (“Software”)

contained in the disk package, provided you agree to the terms of this Agreement. This Agreement is a

binding legal contract between you (as either an individual or entity), and COMPUAPPS. By installing or

using the software you agree to be bound by this Agreement’s terms and conditions, below. If you do not

agree to these Terms and conditions, within seven (7) days of purchase return the unopened disk

package, all-accompanying materials and original packaging, with your proof of purchase, to the place

where you acquired this product for full refund.

COMPUAPPS LICENSE AGREEMENT

1. GRANT OF RIGHTS. This COMPUAPPS software program contained in the disk package is licensed, not

sold, to you by COMPUAPPS or its licensed marketing agents, and it is protected by United States copyright

laws and international treaty. COMPUAPPS grants to you the right to use one copy of the Software on a single

computer at any one time. You may not use other set of disks which may be provided in the disk package

(which include 3.5”, 5.25”, and/or CD-ROM discs) on another computer without first obtaining a license for use

of additional software copies from COMPUAPPS. You may make one additional disk copy of the Software solely

for backup or archival purposes. You may not copy the written materials accompanying the Software. You may

not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble copy, create a derivative work, or otherwise use the Software,

except as stated in this Agreement.

You may transfer the COMPUAPPS software program for use on another single computer, provided no copies of

the COMPUAPPS software program are retained for use on any other computer. You may not loan, rent or

lease the COMPUAPPS software program, but you may transfer your rights under this Agreement on a

permanent basis, provided you transfer to the recipient this License Agreement, all the copies of the

COMPUAPPS software program and its accompanying written materials, AND the recipient agrees to the terms

of this Agreement.

2. LIMITATION OF WARRANTY AND LIABILITY. This Software is licensed to you AS IS. COMPUAPPS’ sole

liability, and your exclusive remedy, for any defects in this product’s materials or media found within ninety

(90) days of purchase shall be, at COMPUAPPS option, either (a) return of the price you paid (with your proof

purchase); or (b) repair or replacement of the Software or COMPUAPPS – supplied hardware (if returned to

COMPUAPPS, shipping pre-paid, with your proof of purchase). COMPUAPPS accepts no responsibility for failure

of Software or COMPUAPPS -supplied hardware, which has resulted from accident, abuse, or misapplication.

3. REMEDIES. These remedies are not available outside of the United States.

THESE REMEDIES ARE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER REMEDIES AND WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,

INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

IN NO EVENT WILL COMPUAPPS OR ITS LICENSED MARKETING AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU OR YOUR

ASSIGNS FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST INFORMATION, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION,

OR OTHER INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE

THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF COMPUAPPS OR ITS LICENSED MARKETING AGENTS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE

POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Some jurisdictions do not allow excluding or limiting implied warranties, or

limiting liability for incidental or consequential damages, and some jurisdictions have special statutory

consumer protection provisions that may supersede this limitation. As a result this limitation may not apply to

you if prohibited by the laws of your jurisdiction.

4. CUSTOMER SUPPORT. COMPUAPPS will attempt to answer your requests for technical support concerning

the Software provided. However, this service is offered on a “reasonable efforts” basis only, and such service

may be discontinued or changed at any time, without notice and without obligation to you. COMPUAPPS will

provide Technical support for the Software only when it is used under conditions and on operating systems for

which the Software was designed. COMPUAPPS may not be able to respond to or resolve every request for

support.

5. GENERAL. If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, then that

provision shall be severed from this Agreement and will not affect the validity of enforceability of any of the

remaining provisions. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California, USA

Introduction CompuApps DriveWizard for Macintosh is the best all-in-one hard drive management software. It helps you to

do three major tasks: Upgrade, Mirror and Restore your data between drives. And it works with internal and

external hard drives including IDE, USB 1.0, USB 2.0 and FireWire (IEEE 1394).

1. Before you Begin The following sections provide the information, one should know before start using CompuApps DriveWizard

for Macintosh. 1.1 Checking System Requirements The minimum system requirements for DriveWizard for Mac are:

• Macintosh G3 System or higher • Minimum 20 MB of free hard disk space for your Software • Memory as per your Operating System requirement • Macintosh 10.1 or Higher

1.2 Supported Operating Systems User can install and use on the following operating systems.

• Macintosh 10.1.x • Macintosh 10.2.x • Macintosh 10.3.x • Macintosh 10.4.x (For PPC and Intel processors) • Macintosh 10.5.x (For PPC and Intel processors)

1.3 Supported Volume Types (File System) User can upgrade the following volume types.

1.4 Getting Latest Information The README file displayed during installation contains the latest information and the changes, which are not available

at the time of releasing / printing this manual. Please read the information before you continue.

1.5 Helpful Hints before you start • If you are installing a new hard drive, remember to read your hardware manual as well. It may

contain specific information for installation and settings that may be required before DriveWizard can

run completely.

• Close all applications before running DriveWizard. This is important since many of DriveWizard

functions will take a “picture” of your drive so that it can compare it later on for synchronization. It is

not a requirement, but it is a good idea.

1.6 Installing DriveWizard in Mac X

• Extract the tar file. This will extract an installer package & an executable for uninstall. • Double Click the installer package and follow as per the instructions displayed by the installer. • This will install DriveWizard for Mac and create an alias in the Desktop of the current user.

1.7 Uninstalling DriveWizard Double click the uninstall application in the installation path and follow as per the instructions

to remove DriveWizard application.

2. Features of DriveWizard DriveWizard is a simple hard drive management tool. DriveWizard helps to take the backup of a complete hard

drive or selected volume(s) in the hard drive in simple steps.

Additional Feature: Current version of DriveWizard application supports GUID partition on Intel based

Mac systems.

Overview of functions

Here is a quick overview of the tabbed screens and their functions:

System: Provides information about your system, user name, Macintosh OS version, Process information and

allows you to launch Apple System Profiler.

DriveUpgrade: DriveUpgrade helps to backup the complete data of a hard drive. Particularly this is very

useful when one wants to move or copy the data of a smaller sized hard drive to a larger one. DriveUpgrade is

a one button upgrade tool for creating volumes, formatting and copying your original data to a new drive.

DriveUpgrade copies only the data in the used space to the new backup drive. DriveUpgrade expands the

volume size in the new drive if the new drive is larger than the original drive. It is also possible to copy

selected volume(s) of a hard drive to another hard drive. If your original drive has any HFS partition,

DriveUpgrade automatically enhances the destination drive by converting the HFS as HFS+.

DriveMirror: DriveMirror is a way of cloning the hard drive. In DriveMirror, Each sector of the original hard

drive is copied to the new drive irrespective of whether the sector is used or not. The difference between

DriveUpgrade and DriveMirror is that DriveUpgrade copies only the data of the used space whereas

DriveMirror copies the data of the complete hard drive sector by sector. The backup drive created with

DriveMirror will have volumes same as the original drive. The size of the volumes is not expanded as they are

in DriveUpgrade.

Volume Copy / Restore: Restore allows copying of data from one volume to another volume. If you are

copying the data from one drive to other using Restore function, the new drive should have a volume to do

restore. While the restore can copy data between two existing volumes, DriveUpgrade can create volumes

automatically in a new drive and copy the data of the selected volume(s) or the data of all the volumes of the

original drive.

3. System Screen

System Screen provides the following information about your system.

• User Name

• Processor

• Speed of the Processor

• Size of the memory

• Version of the Macintosh Operating System

• A Button to launch Apple System Profiler

4. DriveUpgrade

DriveUpgrade is a feature, designed for copying the data of a complete hard drive or selected volume(s) of a

hard drive. Using DriveUpgrade, the backup of a hard drive can be done in few steps. DriveUpgrade

automatically creates volumes in the backup drive(Destination drive) and then copies the data from each

selected volume of the source drive to the corresponding volumes in the backup drive(Destination drive).

4.1 Applications of DriveUpgrade DriveUpgrade copies entire data of your existing hard drive to your new hard drive in a few simple steps

without loosing single preferred setting or byte of data.

DriveUpgrade is useful in the following situations:

• When the existing hard drive is almost full and the user needs to copy all the data in the hard drive to

a higher capacity brand new hard drive. It is possible to copy the data from higher capacity to lower

capacity provided the size of the used space is less than the capacity of the lower capacity one.

• If the Mac system is used for critical activity and the possibility of the downtime in case of hard drive

failure should be eliminated, then it is better to have a backup drive by using DriveUpgrade. Using

DriveWizard, the data of the existing hard drive can copied to a new backup drive so that in case of

the original hard drive failure, the new hard drive can make the Mac system operative in few minutes.

• If the user wants to copy the entire data of a particular volume in the hard drive to a new hard drive.

DriveUpgrade is “Power-fail safe”. If a power or hardware failure occurs during the Upgrade operation, data

will not be lost from the Source hard drive. Consequently, the user is not required to back-up the Source hard

drive before copying. In the event of failure, simply start the operation again.

4.2 Types of DriveUpgrade

DriveUpgrade provide two types of Upgrade:

• Full Upgrade

• Selective Volume Upgrade

If the data of the entire hard drive needs to be copied to another hard drive, full upgrade is the right choice. If

the data of the selected volume(s) in the hard drive only needs to be copied to the new drive, Selective

Volume upgrade can be selected.

4.3 Full Upgrade Full upgrade copies the entire data of a hard drive to another hard drive. The backup drive created using Full

Upgrade will have volumes proportionately expanded.

Let us take an example of an original 6 GB drive that has two volumes. The size of the first volume is 2 GB

and the size of the other is 4 GB. If a 30 GB drive is used as a backup drive and full upgrade is done, then the

30 GB drive will have two volumes. The first volume size will be 10 GB and the size of the second volume will

be 20 GB.

In this case, if user wants to modify the size of the first volume in the backup drive as 15 GB, then the user

needs to choose Selective Volume Upgrade and modify the size of the volume before starting the copying.

If the original drive has any volume with Mac OS 9.X, the option “Install Mac OS 9 Driver in the Destination

Drive” needs to be selected. Selecting this option prepares the destination drive to have Mac OS 9 Drivers so

that it is possible to boot from the Mac OS 9.X from destination.

4.4 How to do Full Upgrade

• Launch DriveWizard and go to DriveUpgrade Page.

• Select your original drive as source.

• Select your new drive as destination. Make sure that you are not selecting incorrectly because the

upgrade process is destructive and will erase all data on the Destination drive.

• If the source drive has any bootable volume with Mac OS 9.x, then the option “Install Mac OS 9 Driver

in the destination drive” needs to be clicked.

• Click on DriveUpgrade button.

• Now a dialog with the option for Full Upgrade and Selective Volume Upgrade will appear.

• Select Full Upgrade.

• The Upgrade process will start and the new drive will be scanned for errors, volumes will be created

and formatted. All the data from your old drive will be copied to your new drive. During the process

the drive will be automatically fragmented. This may vary the time required to upgrade different

drives.

After the process is complete you can either remove your old drive or keep it for storage, backup or recovery

or even as the primary boot drive.

4.5 Selective Volume Upgrade DriveUpgrade also allows volume upgrades. This means if the source hard drive has more than one volume,

then one or more selected volume(s) can be upgraded to the new (backup) hard drive and those volumes will

be expanded depends upon the new drive size. Also it is possible to define the size of the partitions in the

target drive.

4.6 How to do Selective Volume Upgrade

• Launch DriveWizard and go to DriveUpgrade Page.

• Select your original drive as source.

• Select your new drive as destination. Make sure that you are not selecting incorrectly because the

upgrade process is destructive and will erase all data on the Destination drive.

• Click on DriveUpgrade button.

• If the source drive has any bootable volume with Mac OS 9.x, then the option “Install Mac OS 9 Driver

in the destination drive” needs to be clicked.

• Now a dialog with the option for Full Upgrade and Selective Volume Upgrade will appear.

• Click on Selective Volume Upgrade and click on OK.

• Now a Window will open to enable you to select the volume(s) you want to copy.

• Select the Volumes you want to backup by clicking on the Select Button on Left and click on Next.

• Now a window displaying the volumes that are about to be created in the destination drive is

displayed.

• If you want to choose the size of the volume in the new drive, you can modify in this step. You can

modify the size of any volume, by double clicking the size of the volume. You can continue this way

and modify the size for all the volumes in this way. After doing all the modifications, click Continue to

start the copying process.

• If there is any free space in the destination drive, partition can be created with a required partition

type

• The Upgrade process will start and your new drive will be scanned for errors, volume is created and

formatted. The data of selected volumes from your old drive will be copied to your new drive.

After the process is complete you can either remove your old drive or storage, backup or recovery or even as

the primary boot drive.

4.7 Drive Info This button provides information about all the hard drives attached with your Macintosh System. Information

will include Model number and Serial no. of the hard drive, Size, volumes available in the drive.

5. DriveMirror DriveMirror is a quick and flexible way to safely clone or copy one drive to another, enabling quick imaging of

one drive to another for backup purposes. With DriveMirror, there is an option to select the drives for

mirroring.

Each sector of the old hard drive is copied to the new drive in DriveMirror Process irrespective of whether it is

used or not, while DriveUpgrade Process copies only the used Space of the drive.

5.1 How to Mirror a Drive

• Launch DriveWizard and go to DriveMirror page.

• Select a source drive (the drive you want to clone) by clicking on the drive in the source drive column

and then select a destination drive (the drive you want to copy to) in the destination drive column.

• Click on the DriveMirror button.

• After the process completed successfully, if the destination drive has free space, the following dialog

will appear to enable creating extra partition for the remaining space.

• This dialog will give option to choose the name and type of the extra partition.

• Enter the name and select the volume type and click on Create button.

• Now click on Start button to start the Mirror process.

5.2 Drive Info

This option provides information about all the hard drives attached with your Macintosh System. Information

includes Model number and Serial number of the hard drive, Size, volumes available in the drive.

6. Volume Copy / Restore Volume Copy / Restore is a quick and flexible way to copy the data of one volume to another volume. While

DriveUpgrade creates volumes in a blank destination drive and copies the data of the original volume(s),

Volume Copy / Restore requires an existing target volume. It is possible to copy the data of one volume to

another volume of the same hard drive.

The used space of the source volume is copied to the target volume.

Note: Make sure that you are not selecting incorrectly because the Volume Copy / restore process is

destructive and will erase all the data on the target volume and then starts copying the data of the source

volume. Also it is not possible to have a HFS volume as the destination in Volume Copy / Restore.

6.1 How to restore a volume

• Launch DriveWizard and go to Volume Copy / Restore page.

• Select a source volume (the volume you want to backup) and then select a destination volume (the

target volume you want to copy to) in the destination field.

Note: Remember that the destination volume must be equal or larger than the used size of the source

volume. It is not possible to select your booted volume as destination since this would erase your ability to

boot.

• Click on the Volume Copy / Restore button to start the Restore process.

7. DriveWizard - FAQ’s Q: How long I can use the evaluation version of DriveWizard? What will be difference between the evaluation

version and the functional version of DriveWizard?

A: Evaluation Copy of DriveWizard will expire normally after 30 days from the Installed Date. But if the time of

the system is changed, the evaluation period will automatically expire.

Backup Hard disk created using Evaluation version, will not be Usable after the 30 days from installed date. To

continue using the backup hard disk, DriveWizard should be activated. If DriveWizard is activated before

creating Backup Hard disk, then the backup hard disk can be used without activating in it.

Q: Can I launch DriveWizard from a guest login or a login without Administrator privileges?

A: Yes, it is possible. DriveWizard displays the Authentication dialog which requires an Administrator’s user

name and password.DriveWizard can be launched from a guest login by providing a correct Administrator user

name and password.

Q: After DriveMirror has completed, I see a volume named “ExtraPrtn” on the desktop. How was this volume

created?

A: Mirror process provides an option to create Extra Volume for the free Space in the destination drive. If user

does not enter the volume name, the default Volume name is ExtraPrtn. The name of the volume can be

changed as per the user's choice.

Q: When I try to mirror the drive, this error occurs: "No valid volume in source drive"?

A: If the source drive contains Dynamic volumes, this error will occur. Dynamic volumes are not supported for

Mirror.
