DriveCheck is for USA Customers Only. Customers outside of the USA should contact technical support in their country for assistance. The DriveCheck Diagnostic Tool is a quick and easy test that determines if your device is defective or working properly. DriveCheck performs read and write tests on your drive. Within minutes, you will know if the drive passed or failed. The test is compatible with all Sony CD-RW and DVD-+RW drives on a Windows platform. A blank CD-R or CD-RW (unformatted) can be used with the CDR/RW drives. A blank CDR, CDRW (unformatted), DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW (unformatted), or DVD+RW (unformatted) can be used with the DVD- +R/RW. NOTE***A formatted disc cannot be used. Once the tests are completed, your Pass/Fail results are displayed. A file called TestResults.zip, containing the test results, will be created in the directory where you saved the DriveCheck application. If your DriveCheck test fails, please email your results to [email protected]. Please give us 24 hours to process your test results then contact us at Sony Technical Support. US residents only call 1-800-588-3847. See the complete instructions below for the proper testing procedure. Instructions Installing DriveCheck

1. Click the Download button above to download DriveCheck.zip. 2. Click on "SAVE" to save the program to the Desktop. 3. Double-click on DriveCheck.zip on your hard drive to unzip the

program.

**** If you do not have Windows XP you must have WinZip installed to open this file. Go to http://www.winzip.com to download WinZip***

4. With DriveCheck.zip open, click on Extract to save the enclosed DriveCheck.exe file to a folder on your hard drive. We recommend creating a new folder and naming it DriveCheck to ensure that it is easy to find.

****Windows XP users please ensure to extract the file before executing the program****

5. Double-click on DriveCheck.exe in the new DriveCheck folder to open the application.

Running DriveCheck

1. Click ‘Next’ to begin testing.

2. Enter your information in the form provided. Click Next.

3. Insert a disc* into the drive you wish to test, and then select the drive from the menu. Click Next.

*A blank CD-R or CD-RW (unformatted) can be used with the CDR/RW drives. A blank CDR, CDRW (unformatted), DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW (unformatted), or DVD+RW (unformatted) can be used with the DVD-+R/RW. NOTE***A formatted disc cannot be used.

4. Read and write tests are now performed on the drive. The progress of the testing is shown for you. When testing is complete, click Next.

5. The Pass/Fail results of the Read and Write tests are displayed. If a Technical Support Representative has instructed you to email them your results, simply click the E-mail Results button and a log file is automatically sent to them. Click Finish to end your testing session.

Conclusion of DriveCheck

****NOTE***The drivecheck.zip results will automatically go into the Drive Check folder located on the desktop. If you do not extract Drive Check during installation the drivecheck.zip results file will not be created. ***NOTE***
