WE are SILENT – Free the Children InitiativeNovember 27th, 2015 ~ Pledge Form

November, 2015Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:

Jack Miner is about to embark on its first Global fundraising initiative this year to help support Free the Children. We are very motivated to continue supporting in Kenya. So far, over the last nine years in Pimbiniet, Kenya, we have sponsored the building of a school, the building of a water sanitation system in this village, the Alternative Income program, which supports women in starting their own business, and the Medical pillar to support health care. All of this is in effort to support the cause of Free the Children, which is “Children helping children through education”. This year our goal is to continue supporting Kenya, although we will be sponsoring a new village this year.

Through Free the Children, we have learned of a symbolic event used to raise awareness about the unheard voices of many children around the world. On November 27th, 2015, students of Jack Miner will stand up for children’s rights by taking a Vow of Silence. Jack Miner has committed to this We are Silent campaign and invites all students to join us! This is our opportunity to take a stand for all of the children in the world who do not have a voice. By supporting Free the Children projects, you are providing options for families and their children that they would not otherwise have. Your money will help to provide sustainable resources for communities in the rural areas of Kenya. Through these projects, you are giving families hope and giving children a chance to break the cycle of poverty and realize their full potential. When children have these opportunities, nobody will be able to keep them silent.

We encourage any student to participate or support our We are Silent campaign. You may wonder: What does being silent mean? It can mean different things for different people. Being silent can simply mean speaking no words out loud. It can also mean no form of communication— no talking, e-mailing, text messaging, hand gesturing, note writing, miming or using sign language. Each individual can determine his or her level of comfort and method of participation. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges from sponsors for each hour they remain silent.

Students wishing to participate can use the pledge form on the back of this notice or register online using our school code (AA6E9D) at: https://forms.freethechildren.com/campaigns2015/we-are-silent?cmd
