    ELASTOMER TECHNOLOGY

One of the many ways to differentiate Camerons drilling products from those of other manufacturers is the elastomers used in

critical sealing areas, such as ram packers and top seals.

Camerons drilling products exclusively feature proprietary elastomers designed and manufactured by our facility in Katy, Texas.

Cameron provides engineered solutions to elastomeric material problems, and for drilling applications, we have developed

CAMRAM, CAMRAM 350, CAMULAR, CAMLAST and DUROCAM elastomer products to meet the rigorous demands of the oil

field. These products, when used in Camerons ram-type BOPs and annular BOPs, help to improve performance, extend service life,

reduce downtime and lower operating costs. Elastomer components are in-house engineered products with required API testing as

with all other pressure control equipment.

    FlexKing Flexible Joint

Camerons drilling risers FlexKing flexible joint is intended to permit relative angular

displacement of the riser elements without excessive bending stresses. The flexible

joint assembly, with connections on opposite ends, has concentric axial center lines

180 degrees apart when not in service. An internal flexible element permits the

flexible joint omni-directional flexure, which is limited to plus or minus 10 degrees,

such that the top and bottom connector axial center lines may be at a maximum of

170 degrees relative to each other.

    Telescoping Joint

Camerons telescoping joint consists primarily of two pieces, an inner barrel and an

outer barrel. To compensate for changes in rig-to-stack distance, the CAMERON

telescoping joint is extended by securing the inner barrel to the diverter and the

outer barrel to the riser, thus allowing the inner barrel to stroke. The loops in the

connection fluid lines are then extended to meet the changing vertical distance. The

lower ends of these lines are attached to external goosenecks on the outer barrel of

the telescoping joint or on the RST ring.

    Spider

Camerons spider is used to run riser sections through rotary tables up to 75.5 in

diameter. Retractable dogs are hydraulically activated to support the riser string.

The spider is operated through the drillers panel, eliminating the need to manually

retract and extend the six dogs.

    Cognition

    Camerons Cognition Stack Instrumentation Infrastructure

Package provides a data and power infrastructure for

sensors fitted to the lower stack and LMRP of new

or existing subsea BOP assemblies. The infrastructure

features multiple redundant techniques and access points

for powering sensors and reading data. Innovations

include redundant subsea BOP black box data recorders

which log all BOP operator, control, feedback and sensor

information for several weeks of operation and can be

recovered by ROV for forensic analysis.

Cognition provides a network infrastructure where there

are neither power nor data channels normally available.

Installers choose what sensors to add as Cognition accepts

all common industry sensor signals. The infrastructure

can also be leveraged to provide access to invaluable

diagnostic data to minimize BOP downtime and proactively

    manage maintenance.

In addition to conventional ROV stab access points, ROV-

based inductive data and power connections are offered

for reliable, high-capacity connectivity. A fourth means

of powering and communicating with the network is via

acoustic systems which can also provide local power. Each

connection is capable of energizing sensors and reading

data from local subsea data historians independently of

the native BOP control system. Multiple access points are

distributed around the LMRP and lower stack to maximize

the likelihood of one being accessible following damage or

interference by debris. Any one connection point provides

access to all Cognition sensor data, thus providing

    unprecedented redundancy.

The two main components of the ESG system: surface BOP stack (left) and ESG subsea module (right).

    ESG (Environmental Safe Guard) System

Camerons ESG system is a safe, reliable and cost-effective

alternative to traditional subsea drilling practices, combining field-

proven equipment into an evolutionary new system.

Camerons ESG system, evolving traditional methods one step further,

utilizes a floating vessel equipped with a combination of subsea and

surface modules. The subsea portion, at only a fraction of the size

and weight of a traditional subsea stack, is used to shear, seal and

disconnect from the seabed while the traditional surface BOP stack

handles all the well control functions.

The subsea stack consists of upper and lower wellhead connectors, a

ram-type BOP with shearing blind rams and a mini (acoustic, electric,

ROV-actuated or hydraulic) control system. The subsea portion is

connected to a traditional surface BOP stack via a high-pressure riser

system, Camerons exclusive triple-barrel telescoping joint and a

    motion compensation system.

In the event of an emergency, the control system is used to signal the

subsea BOP to shear the pipe. Once the shearing blind rams shear

and seal off the bore, the control system is used to signal the upper

connector to disconnect, allowing the rig to be moved safely off

location with minimal loss of drilling or well fluids.

    18-3/4 15K SSSS BOP

New to the industry, the Super Shear Sealing System (SSSS) BOP offers increased

safety and environmental protection while drilling deeper, more complex wells in

harsh environments. The 18-3/4 SSSS BOP features a working pressure of 15,000

psi and tandem booster bonnet configuration. The SSSS is an evolution from proven

technologies to meet requirements beyond what is required in the industry. Combining

multiple features and technologies from existing BOP models, the system is designed to

cut the pipe and seal the wellbore effectively with the push of a button. The SSSS Ram,

built exclusively for the SSSS BOP, features a compound V-shaped blade configuration

and is capable of shearing and sealing full wellbore pressure after shearing 6-5/8

HWDP and 13-3/8 casing. The BOP is considered temperature class XX per API 16A.

    Capping Stack

Building on a legacy of innovative BOP products, Cameron now designs and

manufactures capping stacks. These stacks provide an additional method for safely

shutting in a well or diverting the flow to a containment system. These small,

lightweight stacks, varying in size and working pressure, are designed to fit on top of a

subsea BOP stack or wellhead and can be configured per customers request.
