The greatest missionary is the Bible in the mother tongue. It never
needs a furlough, and is never considered a foreigner. Cameron
Townsend
It means, she has the BibleThe tarp of the temporary meeting sheltersnapped over their heads, casting a dusty bluehaze over the two seated women. The shoutsof the ball game grew quiet as dusk settledover the village. Earlier, there were too manypeople, but now its just us. Marito touchedNaomis arm, asking Would you pray withme?
That morning, over 1700 Dedua speakers hadgathered in the now-empty meeting shelter tocelebrate the dedication of the Audibibleahandheld solar-powered audio player thatcontained the recorded Dedua NewTestament and Genesis. Now, as the sun sankbehind the Morobe mountains, Marito beganto share her story. When she was a little girl, her stepfather refused to allow her to attend
schooland when she tried to sneak into theclassroom, she was disciplined. But her desireto read and write still lived, and years later, when as a wife and mother she lived in thecapital city of the province, she enrolled in anadult literacy course for both Tok Pisin (thetrade language) and English.
We moved back to the village before I learnedmuchnot even to read Deduabut I keeptrying! She twisted herbilum (string bag)fiercely, then looked up. It is my deepesthunger to read Gods Word! I desperately want
to share with my friends and teach Sunday

God is growing and maturing our sweet baby girls daily. Thank
you for blessing us by praying and encouraging them! Heres a
glimpse into their lives: Taylor is on the track and varsity girls
volleyball teams this term; Tia is trying out for the Soul PurposeBand (youth worship team); Miriam will be a teenager in less
than a month (May 4th) and is on the junior varsity girls
volleyball team; and last (but not least!), Jade is excelling in
second grade and enjoying a weekly ballet class offered by a
fellow missionary.
