A Dread Shade is a creature of the Shadowfell, a being transformed willingly by the darkness. Like a lich, a Dread Shade chooses to accept its power; like most vampires, its new power corrodes its original personality. Prerequisites: Level 11. Dread Shade Solo (Any role) Shadow humanoid (undead) XP Solo Senses darkvision Immune disease, poison; Resist 5 necrotic, 10 necrotic at 11th level, 15 necrotic at 21st level; Vulnerable 5 radiant, 10 radiant at 11th level, 15 radiant at 21st level Benighted Presence aura 10; light-producing eff ects within the aura whose level is lower than the shade’s can create only dim light. Defenses +2 AC, +2 Fortitude, +2 Reflex, +2 Will Saving Throws +4 (+4 against charm eff ects) Action Points 2 Hit Points +12 per level (artillery, lurker)/+16 per level (controller, skirmisher, soldier)/+20 per level (brute) + Constitution score Regeneration 10 paragon/15 epic (If the shade takes radiant damage, its regeneration doesn’t function on its next turn.) Shadow Stride (move; recharge 5,6) Teleportation A shade can teleport 20 squares but must end its move in dim light or darkness. (More powerful shades might recharge this power more often.) Coalescing Darkness If a shade moves 3 or more squares by any means, it is cloaked with supernatural darkness, gaining total concealment. Skills Shades have a +5 racial bonus to Stealth checks. Dread Shade Moon Priest Level 11 Solo Controller (Leader) Medium shadow humanoid (undead) XP 3,000 HP 286; Bloodied 143 Initiative +6 AC 27, Fortitude 24, Reflex 25, Will 26 Perception +9, darkvision Speed 6 Saving Throws +4 (+4 against charm eff ects) Action Points 2 Immune disease, poison; Resist 10 necrotic; Vulnerable 10 radiant Regeneration 10 (If the shade takes radiant damage, its regeneration doesn’t function on its next turn.)
