These are the key areas of the scrubbing sink you need to be aware of prior to scrubbing-in. “actor name” will be demonstrating this process.

“Next, clean under each nail while holding hands under running water”

Camera: Close up of right hand using the nail pick to clean under each fingernail of the opposite hand. Camera angle is tight on the finger tips and follows the action while the nails are under water.

Action: Nail pick is moved under each fingernail

Now that the nails are completely clean, wet the both hands and arms keep your hands above the level of elbowThis uses gravity to move water away from your hands as you are scrubbing.

Camera: Camera shot shows profile of actor from sink level and above.

Action: Actor demonstrates the correct way to run hands and arms under water to allow for dripping away from hand.

Take the scrub brush out of package.Drop package in to waste receptacle rather than leaving it on the sink ledge

Camera: Camera shot - close up of one hand removing the scrub brush from the Scrub Brush Kit only touching the brush and the sterile inside of the kit.

Action: zoom out to wide shot from hand as the empty kit is lifted from the ledge of sink to the waste receptacle.

Begin scrubbing each finger with the rigid side imagining each finger has 4 sides. Be sure to scrub between each finger as well under each nail again.

Camera: Close of brush scrubbing fingers on opposite hand. Camera will follow hand movement accentuates the fours sides of each finger.

Action: annotate the screen about, side of brush, motion, areas of finger

Scrub the palms and back of hands with the rigid side of the scrub brush

Camera: Camera pulls back to show both hands above sink showing the proper motion of the scrub brush on the anterior and posterior hand

Action: : annotate the screen about, side of brush, motion, areas of anterior and posterior of hand

With the foam pad side of the scrub brush, continue scrubbing up each arm -imagining each arm has 4 sides - to 2" above the elbow

Camera: camera Zooms in to show the smooth side of the scrub brush being used on the first arm. Camera zooms into area two inches above the elbow.

Action: annotate the screen about, side of brush, motion, areas of arm, upright position or arms, and distance above elbow

With the scrub brush in one hand, rinse each hand beginning at the fingers and going to above the elbows -keeping hands above the level of the elbows

Camera: Camera Zoom out while actor demonstrates the rinsing process at the sink and the hand position during and after the rinse.

Action: Actor reminds audience about importance of water run off

Repeat previous 3 steps except only go to the level of the elbow (rather than 2" above) on the second scrub.

Camera: No new camera angles. Scene will be comprised of previous 3 scenes to demonstrate they are repeated but not shown entirely to save time.

Action: Actor narrates by naming each of the last stepsAnnotate the screen:“Repeat the steps of washing the hands and forearms. “

Drop the scrub brush in to trash receptacle

Camera: Camera Angle above the hand that is above the trash receptacle. The hand releases the brush into the trash

Action: Actor drops the brush into the trash

Rinse each arm keeping hands above the level of the elbow

Camera: Camera Angle moves back to wide shot of full sink and actor in front of sink as rinsing takes place.

Action: actor drips dry or uses sterile absorbent cloth to dry arms and hands Annotate screen : arrows highlighting hand position

Lastly, turn off water without contaminating hands or arms by touching any part of the sink.

Camera: Camera pulls in close to body where actr is turning off the water

Action: Actor is careful not to contaminate hands or arms in teprocess of turning off the water

Narrator:

You are now ready to enter the operating room keeping hands above the level of the elbows at all times.

Camera: Zoom out to wide shot of actor in front of sink
