Drawing the Figure: Anatomy Materials List Drawing the Figure: Anatomy This is a comprehensive materials list, from which you may choose to bring (A) a single drawing medium of your choice (conte, charcoal, or graphite for example) or (B) a variety of drawing mediums, which you’d like to explore. Since anatomy drawing is more detailed, I have made ‘Derwent Drawing’ pencils mandatory for this course (see below), which are easier to control. However, conte, charcoal and pastels are also welcome if you enjoy working with them. Each student will be provided with a drawing board, drawing donkey, easel and/ or chair during each class. Sitting on drawing donkeys can get sore on the behind, so feel free to bring a cushion. Listed below in BLUE are the mandatory materials for this course. Feel free to bring additional materials. All materials can be found at Opus Art Supplies, and the textbook on Amazon. Textbook: Anatomy: A Complete Guide For Artists, by Joseph Sheppard 'Fierro' brown Kraft paper (18" x 24"): 1 pad Sketchbook: No smaller than 8.5" x 11" ‘Staedtler’ Mars Plastic Eraser Staedtler 'blue' Eraser Holder with refills X-ACTO knife Derwent Drawing’ Coloured Pencils: Chocolate, Venetian Red, & Chinese White- (1 each) Coloured Pencils- 6-10 different colours 1) Textbook Anatomy: A Complete Guide For Artists, by Joseph Sheppard AMAZON.CA: https://www.amazon.ca/Anatomy-Complete-Artists-Joseph-Sheppard/dp/0486272796 2) Paper 'Fierro' brown Kraft paper (18" x 24"): 1 pad Newsprint Paper (18" x 24"): 1 pad 'Canson' Mi-Tetntes (19" x 25"): 2 sheets of any colour you wish. I suggest mid-tone & neutral colours (ie/ Tobacco, Bisque, Pearl, Felt Grey, etc.)- not too light/ not too dark. 3) Sketchbook No smaller than 8.5" x 11". I suggest a ring-bound sketchbook, so you may open your pages fully. Used for anatomy notes and suggested homework assignments. 4) Graphite Pencils (optional) 2B, 4B, 6B, 9B (Staedtler and Derwent are good). 5) Coloured Pencils 6-10 different colours (Prismacolor or any brand will do). Each colour will be used to draw a different muscle during anatomy lectures, so the more the merrier. 6) Erasers 1) Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser
