Photo
Shy person, take drama because it can help you develop you're presenting skills.
Furthermore you will be able to boost your self confidence.
This can mean greatly for you as an individual because you will find it very helpful
for almost every other subject. For example: during oral presentations (That can relate to any subject) you will know how to involve your audience during the speech, but
not only. Using particular terminology will become easier because you will already be used to
different styles of language.
If you are a...
If you are an... Active learner, you will find that drama is the
perfect choice for you because you will have the opportunity to express all of your enthusiasm by
actively participating in lessons. Thanks to each of our personal experiences we can confirm that collaborating with one another is one of the best techniques in order to produce a
high standard piece of drama. One of the main reasons for this is because by sharing your personal opinions with others you:
1. Firstly understand how others might interpret the same idea in different manners,
2. And Secindly, we have all developed a very strong bond between students in our drama class.
We think it is important to work with a group of open minded people. It's all good experience!
Units we have covered in Grade 10: The first lessons are based on how to have a
dialogue with another actor. We did this to get used to the idea of having
to take on the role of another charcter. Even if it sounds very complex, by the end of the year, you will be used to entering another
person's shoes.Living another reality and making it look
realistic to the audience. The second unit is based on looking at what
symbolizes different cultures.During this unit you will learn, for example,
different gestures and habits that are particular of a specific population or location.
Units we have covered in Grade 10:
In addition, your drama teacher, Miss.Daykin, will teach you specific drama techniques that
will allow you to create an extremelly effective piece of acting.
At the end of this unit you will have to perform a play based on what you have learnt,
and you will be assessed on it. The second unit that you will cover is a play written by Willy Russell, called: "Our Day Out". Here you will learn for example: in what ways
you can stage a particular scene.
Units we have covered in Grade 10:
You will majorly focus on the inequalities that are involved with social classes and how this
can affect specific individuals. You will also look at teenager behaviour: the
positive and negative aspects of being one. At the end of this unit, because it is one the
first ones, you will be assessed on a group performance.
Which will be based on what you have learnt. At the end of the performance you will also write a reflection based on your judjement.
As you can see we are also developing critical thinking skills and analysing skills.
Units we have covered in Grade 10:
The last unit that you will cover is "Shakespeare".
A drama student from grade 12 or 13 will be your director and you will have to act a
Shakespeare play. You will later perform in the Shakespeare festival. And as usual, you'll be assessed by
Miss. Daykin at the end of it.
AOI's we have looked at throughout the years:
AOI's we have looked at throughout the years:
Guess what..? We have covered all of the AOI's (Areas Of Interaction) throughout the year.
This is essential when trying to understand what kind of topics you are going to work on. This proves that the course includes various
elements that characterize it. We always try to attempt problems in different ways, each time using different points of view. For example we, Grade 11 students, are now
understanding how to respond to a given stimulus.
The goal would be to identify as many different ideas on it as possible.
