Appearance/ClothingDrakes appearance has drastically

changed over the years. However, the type of clothes he wears hasn’t changed as ever since he became well known around 2009 he has stuck to wearing the typical clothing of most Hip-hop/rap artists. His attire consists of wearing chains and having lots of jewellery on show to highlight his wealth. His clothing is stylish which is very common with Hip-hop/Rap artists. Earlier on in his career clothing he wore were mostly branded designer clothes which highlights his wealth and appeals to audience members, But in recent times he has made a push to promote his own clothing line (OVO), which is what you will see him wearing mostly these days.

Drake also now has opted for a more masculine look as he has grown a beard and changed his hairstyle. He has also made it evident that he works out as he often posts pictures in the gym, this portrays him as being masculine. This was done maybe to increase his female followers as many find it attractive and a lot of his music is targeted at females. The change of appearance has caused a lot hype on social media as Drake is one of the biggest rappers in the world right now and has many followers, so these things do not go unnoticed.

Regarding the settings in drakes music videos, they tend to differ depending on the song, as the visuals in his videos usually match the lyrics of his songs. An example of this is the video ‘HYFR’ which is a song of Drake celebrating him being re-bar mitzvah’d and in the video it shows him in what I assume is a synagogue celebrating his special day. The props etc we see in his videos signify his mood, for example ‘Started from the bottom’ is a song celebrating how far he has come in life, in this we see him extremely happy with fancy cars, fancy clothes and many females with him.

Musical styleDrake is very versatile with his music, which Is why I believe that he is the most

popular rapper out now. He makes many different types of songs from RnB type music where he is singing like his recent single ‘Hotline Bling’ to rap songs like back to back where he is dissing rapper Meek Mill. His overall versatility in music is evident as he has made many different types of songs over the years. A lot of Drakes music and lyrics are about females, this type of music is not only popular with the females but also with his male followers. An example of this is his song ‘Marvins Room’. He also likes to make music celebrating his personal success for example the songs ‘HYFR’ and ‘Started from the bottom’. He also occasionally has and features in songs where his verses are in the style of confrontational rap, an example of this would be his verse on the song ‘Stay Schemin’ which is by Rick Ross & features Drake and French Montana. His ability to make different types of songs allows him to reach many different audiences.

This post is Drake promoting his own clothing brand (OVO) which shows he cares about the brand and wants it to reach his many followers.

This post shows that he is in to sports and shows that he is very respectful as he is paying respects to an athelete.

This shows he is very active on instagram as he has 2,450 posts which is a lot. He is the most followed male rapper on instagram which just shows how popular he is.

On twitter drake tends to just promote his mixtapes, Album and new releases. He seems to be more active on instagram as he does not tweet often. Him having 26.1million followers on twitter shows what a presence he has on social media and shows just how loved he is by his fans

Drakes website is really basic and it looks outdated as the music promoted on it is not up to date, since the mixtape ‘if you’re reading this its too late’ (shown in the picture screenshot below) he has released another joint mixtape which he has not got up on the website.

The website also contains his music videos and tour dates, although they’re tour dates from 2014. There is a link to the shop of his clothing line, when clicked on the ‘shop’ button it directs you to his clothing website. This website does not look as if there has been much effort put in to it, reasons for this may be because, he has so much of a presence on social media etc that a website is not relevant. The website is used mostly to promote his music and clothing brand and to give fans information needed on tour dates.
