Special Thanksto my friends who managed to keep me on task instead of screwing

around all over the place.

And special, special thanks to my lovely editor, Fyonra, the Dragon Maiden. Finally, special thanks to you, the reader, for excusing my in-

AetherRealPrologue: Origins In the beginning, before life, when neither time nor space existed. There were three beings in this dimension. One, simply known as God. For God had no gender, for gods such as IT could change their form at will. IT had two daughters; one formed with shimmering air, whose steps flowed and beauty shone. Another, created of a passionate flame, with a whimsical personality. The first, Fleyahn, and the second, Alneira. Over time, God felt the need to relieve his own solitude. IT disappeared for millennia on end, slowly crafting a round, perfect world, where the first life was given form, in the shape of small critters, at first. They knew nothing, felt nothing; they merely lived. Soon, they evolved, becoming capable of creating their own elements. But that world, Gaia, is a tale for another time. This God, felt that IT’s daughters should make their own world, to gift with precious life. IT gifted the two sisters with a single canvas, on which they were told to paint worlds they would dedicate themselves to. Delighted, the two decided to make matching worlds, and split the canvas in two equal halves, fusing the worlds together at a certain point. As each sketched on their own canvas, they found the worlds to be tarnished, imperfect. The terrain was so oddly shaped and warped, the world itself seeming… distorted, somehow. Alneira, despising her world- and feeling that she needed to fix such a flawed world- threw a new layer over the world entirely, a thin sheet of masking that was meant to hide her supposedly failed efforts. Fleyahn felt no need to do so, knowing that there could be no world without imperfection. However, her sister had already done it; did they not plan to make their worlds exactly alike? So she did the same, but with far more care; hers, unlike Alneira’s which had been covered in blatant fury, was a delicate fabric that was made thin so that if she felt the need to, there could be small entrances returning to the Distortion. As the sisters so painstakingly crafted their artwork, they wished for life in their worlds as well. Unlike Gaia, which had ended up with such envious, dark humans, Alneira and Fleyahn wanted something better. Worry gnawed away at them, yet ‘God’ could do nothing to relieve them of their burdens, as the gift of life wasn’t something IT could give. As they searched, the sisters found themselves falling ill, so that as their own essences faded, they began slipping into the realm of dreams once more. “So, you wish for life?”

“There would be nothing more we could want.” “A wish must come at the price of a wish; for a wish such as this, there would be a hefty price indeed.” “We would pay it, if it means our worlds would become complete.” “Whether they are complete is up to you, but life is something I can promise to you. The cost, I shall take in time.” “We could make you the royalty of these worlds, and all of your bloodline would be treated as such, if this is deemed a worthy price. You could be the governor of our worlds, their guardian.” “You know nothing of costs, if you have the folly to offer me such. Being a guardian is a burden, not payment. Look elsewhere for your guardian, goddess, and perhaps you may find one with the power in their soul to govern your worlds yet still kind enough to do so with no tricks attached. Look elsewhere, goddess. Your price will be paid, in due time.” “So, you will deign to grant our wish?” “Yes. Keep in mind, goddess, that not all prices are paid by the one wishing. And that all prices must be equal to that of the original wish. Oh yes, someone will pay the price. Whether it is you and your sister, we shall see.” “Very well… We give you our thanks, Wish Giver.” Silence, cruel laughter, and then, all the sounds slowly ebbed away, dissonant shadows fading into the slivers of life that formed their domain. The entire experience- no, dream- began flitting away, becoming as intangible as the miasma that wreathed Nymphyre. As Alneira drifted towards her canvas, delight spread across her features. A small glimmer, steadily growing, was present at the heart of Fylheria. Recognizable, no matter the crags and flames of the land itself. Life. In excitement, Alneira went to tell her father of her discovery. “Father, father! My world has-” She froze in shock, seeing God watching over his own world; one that was swiftly dying and overtaken by shadow. He turned, haggard features losing their color as she watched. “Daughter… My world is dying. I am dying. I’m just missing…” “Life.” She finished, her voice slipping into a choked whisper. A single word, to complete what she had been about to tell her father, and to fix what her father was beginning to lose. Every wish has a price, she realized, far too late. The price of this wish, however, was one she didn’t quite think she was willing to pay. She began to worry, nervous in the face of death. “I can fix this, father! I can go back to the Wish Giver, and, and…” She fled from the room, away from the canvas of God’s world-- the

world that she would end up killing, if she didn’t reverse the effects. The Wish Giver could change it, could she not? Reverse her magic. Undo the death that struck Gaia. Now, if only Alneira knew how to find her, the Wish Giver, again. Shifting shapes near-constantly, Alneira searched throughout her dimension. From the beginning, she knew deep down that her search would be for naught-- power such as that of the Wish Giver would not be easily concealed. It would shine throughout the cosmos, a beacon whose power would be omnipresent. She sensed no such thing, but the futile search continued, out of desperation. Maybe she thought, perhaps, that if she were to pour enough of her energy into searching, that she could change the truth. Power spread thin after such a long time of fruitless searching, Alneira became weaker and weaker as she sought the elusive Wish Giver. Eventually, her weakness won over, and she lost consciousness, seeing Gaia’s dying surface in her last coherent moments. “Well well, little fletchling, how amusing it is to see you seeking me out again. Just realizing the painful truth, dear?” Words like birdsong poured out, their lilting melody dissonant yet fluid at the same time. Alneira would recognize the tone anywhere. “Stop it… Please, Wish Giver, stop all this destruction! You can take the life in Fylheria back, just please-” Words dripping with malice, the Wish Giver replied, “You think I would wish that? Your ‘life’ is tainted, goddess. The very one who wanted it there in the first place no longer desires it-- such a cursed existence, no? There would be no purpose in me taking it. Although I can take it back, I have naught the care to restore life to Gaia, regardless. Your lesson has been taught, fletching. Take it, with pride, lest you repeat your mistakes.” “Then please, please help me. I have nothing better as an option; surely you could help me with my world? I could make you royalty, worshipped by these people who I went through so much pain to create.” Grasping at straws, Alneira pleaded, a hysterical note slipping into her voice. “Why would I want to help you? I am already far beyond your power, in my own dimension.” “You couldn’t possibly be the only one in your dimension, then. Surely someone, anyone, would be willing?” “Poor fletchling, so desperate. Have you any inkling of how to find me, besides wasting your power on pointless causes and fainting? You’re naive, goddess. Foolish.” The words struck, harder than physical blows, even as the Wish

=24=

Giver continued. “I have the power to create dimensions themselves; thus, the realm of dreams. You stumbled here, only because your wish was heard. I control the comings and goings here, goddess. You had to have been given the power to simply connect to another one, a newborn one at that, easily accessed. This precise point was proven when I swept all life off Gaia and dropped it into Fylheria, girl. You’re weak, weaker than I, and anyone from my dimension would be more powerful than you.” A few moments of silent contemplation occurred, when the Wish Giver seemed to think of either scolding, or actually helping the goddess who had come to her for aid. Alneira spoke now, still wary of the Wish Giver’s wrath, yet beginning to understand her own foolishness. “Wish Giver; I ask only this, then. Consider it a wish, if you will, for now I understand the prices of such things. Bring me to your dimension, let me plead to those who will listen. A gamble, perhaps? If I can convince someone to return with me and guard my world and my sister’s, you won’t take a price, and you’ll halt the progressive death on Gaia. Otherwise, you can continue the upon the path of destruction, and take whatever price needed for the transportation between dimensions.” “What reason do you give me for accepting such a request?” “If you think convincing someone so impossible, then just let me try. Gaia’s nearly dead, regardless, no? It wouldn’t be too much trouble to humour me.” “Very well. Little goddess, fletchling,” the world warped around Alneira, colors shifting, space itself giving way. “Welcome.” Flashes of distant images writhed around Alneira, just as she suddenly keeled over, weakness taking hold once more.

Special Thanks and Aknowledgements

First of all, thanks to our writing teacher, Mrs. Holcomb,

for allowing us time in her class to work on our story. She’s been a bit skeptical about our idea, honestly, but she’s still rather

supportive of us creating our personal story.

We’re also glad for Mr. Sterling-Smith, of course, for allowing this publication to be possible!

Lastly, thanks to our friends for encouraging us throughout this project, and thanks to all the readers!

Disclaimer: Nothing in Altera, none of the classes or specializa-tions, none of the war or the names of the locations or historical figures,

belong to us. Only the original characters and the storyline involving them belong to us. The game (Dragon Nest) belongs to Nexon, Eyedentity

Games, and Shanda Games.

Altera is the name of a land ravaged by war for over a century. There are many opposing forces, a few of which are former heroes strug-

gling to obtain dragon lustres, hungering for power and the title of ruler in both worlds.

Let us first see how these worlds came to be, shall we? Many, many millennia ago, the god Desmodeus gave his two

daughters a task: to create worlds of their own. One of them, goddess Al-thea, made a beautiful world, filled with life and purity; it was called Altera.

The other, goddess Vestinel, created a world that emanated darkness, and was full of debauched beings and selfish moralities; this was called the Mis-tlands. Jealous of the praise that Desmodeus showered upon Althea’s world, Vestinel poisoned her sister with a most lethal of concoctions, and fled into

the Mistlands. Althea fell into a deep sleep; not quite dead, yet not quite alive.

Today, Althea’s beautiful Altera has been ruined by constant battles and brutal conflicts. Fifty years ago, the peak of the war brought about much of the world’s current corruption. The Dragon Raid began at the Black Drag-on’s struggles to rise, aided greatly by Elena and the dark elves. Six heroes, each representing their own respective organizations, united under King

Cassius I.The group was lead by Gerrant, the Gold Dragon, who was head of his own band called the Dragon Slayers. The other five heroes consisted of Velskud of the Saint’s Haven Royal Army, Nerwin of the Silver Crescent Archers,

Varnak of the Free Adventurer’s League, Kasarana of the Astral Coven sor-ceresses, and Teram of the Divine Knights.

Argenta, the Silver Dragon, was also involved in the Dragon Raid, though she refused to be publicly recognized as one of the heroes. She insisted that her power and Gerrant’s combined were enough defeat the Black Dragon

and all his accomplices. Now, let us meander back toward the current land of Altera.

Page 28: Dragon tears Powered Uniforn Honrs Only the nector of the gods · PDF fileThe Legend of Savage Storm ... which they were told to paint worlds they would dedicate ... Reverse her magic

=28=

Altera is ruled by corrupt officials, and only a few with pure intentions reside among their ranks. The royal palace, therefore the center of power, stands in Saint’s Haven, once a beautiful city. There are a few clear organi-

zations under the king (currently King Cassius III). The Divine Order is headed by Pontiff Teram, and is a network of mag-

ic-using Clerics. They serve the goddess Althea, and spread their love for her all the time. Their representative in the Royal Court is Bishop Ignacio.

There are the elves, ruled by Queen Narsilia (formerly called Nerwin), who polish their bow-wielding and wind-controlling skills over hundreds of years. As you may already know, they are immortal. They only cease to exist after they have followed their Telezia, which best translates into the human language as destiny; they are then transformed into trees. If they fail to do so, they are reduced to nothing more than a pile of dust. They

have no representative in the Royal Court. The Astral Coven is still lead by Lady Kasarana. This organization of sor-ceresses strive to research magicks and living things of every kind. Along with being experts at finding information, these sorceresses are cunning with their words. They accumulate superb knowledge through the gri-

moires, and their pompous attitudes seem to live through each and every one of them. Lady Kaylinn is their representative in the Royal Court.

The Free Adventurer’s League is the premier organization for active adven-turers. Their aim is to bring together normally independent explorers and fighters, giving out commissions and rewards for helping out the citizens. The league motivates teamwork so that they can achieve far greater suc-cesses. With no allegiances to other organizations, they are free to assist

any and all in their pursuit of glory. This is Altera, though weakened by everything that has happened to it, in it, on it, still stands, but I’d rather not daresay it strong. Althea still strug-gles to regain consciousness, Vestinel still rules over the Mistlands, the

monarchy is still in place. This is the story of a multitude of people struggling to survive in a hellhole

of a kingdom.

Water by

Niyati Reddy and Albena Goulisheva

Ciana Hope had lived with her mother her whole life knowing nothing about her father, was never allowed to near water, but then

one day 2 new kids show up and she finds out she’s from a whole other world.

Page 57: Dragon tears Powered Uniforn Honrs Only the nector of the gods · PDF fileThe Legend of Savage Storm ... which they were told to paint worlds they would dedicate ... Reverse her magic

=57=

Ciana Summer waves crashed along the sinking sand as Ciana Hope stared out her window, wishing she could be out there some day, feel the ocean’s salty water on her pale and deprived skin. The sun was slow-ly lowering into the horizon as Ciana was deep in thought. Living on the Australian continent, surrounded by water, and not ever being able to step foot on the beach, was one the many constraints on her life.“Ci-ana, are you staring outside that window again? We’ve been over this. Don’t go on wishing you could follow those silly dreams of yours.”Ciana sighed, and looked away from the window. “Mom, I’m not 10 anymore.” Her mother was walking up to her, fingering the silver key she always wore around her neck. She changed the subject quickly. “ Ciana dear, why don’t you focus on the positive. School starts tomorrow! You can hang out with all your friends!”Ciana often wondered if her mother even remembered what it was like to be a teenager.“And that’s suppose to be a positive thing?” She replied in disbelief that her mother was so ignorant of her own daughter’s life. She didn’t exactly have many friends. She had one.

The moment her mom became distant was the day Ciana’s father disappeared from her life. Ever since her father left, Ciana wanted answers that she never got. Answers as to why she couldn’t ever go to beach parties. Why she had to skip the swimming unit in PE. Why she had to filter all the water that could be within 5 feet of her skin. Why she could never take a normal shower. Why she had to drink water with a straw. She thought it used to be the whole overprotective mom thing, but over the years, she realized it was more than that. Ciana was al-ways more annoyed with her special ‘condition’ to ever really come to terms with her mother about all of these ridiculous restrictions. Was it even possible to be ‘allergic’ to the hydrogen particles when they’re in a chemical reaction with oxygen particles? Ciana walked away from the window and gave an exasperated sigh. She flopped onto her bed and closed her eyes as the last bit of sunlight left her window…

Monday morning. Ciana had been through the ‘first day of school’ routine multiple times now. Not once had she enjoyed it. At school, Ciana was even more insecure about herself than she was at home, and that’s saying a lot. She was often ridiculed by the other kids about her ‘allergy’. There were the hushed whis-pers and awkward stares that she always heard even when they thought she couldn’t. “Hey look..that’s the girl who can’t touch water.....weird...” “Does she think she’s special or something?” “Creep...”...and so on.Why would today be any different?

She just wanted to be done with it. She ran to the office to get her schedule, and took a quick glance at her 2017-2018 11th grade year. All AP classes. 7th period study hall. And Locker in Building B. She found her locker. Bottom. Gum. Broken....Ugh. And let’s not forget the seven-year-old-gym-sock-smell. Gross. She slammed her locker shut and strode her way to her next class, boring AP biology. She aced it last year, and the year before that. It was in 4th grade when she realized that 5/7 of her life would be taken over by boring useless classes which wouldn’t possibly help her later in life. That’s over 71% of her life she would never get back. “riiiiiiiiiiiiiiing” 1st period, check! 6 more to go...Before Ciana could catch her breath, her best friend, her only friend, Ce-leste, ran up to her like she had just met Taylor Swift. “What? Oh my god Celeste! What’s the problem with you. It’s only 2nd period, not- “Ciana! OH. MY. GOD. You have GOT to come to building A. RIGHT. NOW. “Celeste, breathe. We have 2nd period together. In building A. Calm down.” “Riiiiggghhtt...”Celeste grabbed Ciana’s hand and pulled her along to building A. “Celeste, careful” “Sorry”, replied Celeste probably not really knowing what she had just apologized for. As they reached building A, Ciana leaned against the wall, catching her breath. “Excuse me” said a distinctly male unfamiliar voice.

“Wha-?” Ciana said, dropping her books in surprise. She looked up and saw the bluest, most hypnotizing eyes. She shook out of her daze and muttered something incoherently. But then she took a double take when she saw the guy’s friend staring at her and she gasped. He looked so famil-iar. Where had she seen him before? “I’m sorry, but do I know you? I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere? Maybe?” Ciana asked. The guy looked at her as if she was crazy and quickly averted his intense gaze.. “Um...sorry... you going to move?...,” Blue eyes said. “Uhhh… Yeah. Sorry,” Ciana said, taking one last look at his friend, as Celeste pulled her up. Celeste dragged her away and whispered excited-ly, “That’s him! That’s the guy! He has the bluest, dreamiest eyes….” Ciana snorted. “Umm, reality check? Class starts in approximately 23 seconds, and for the record, sure, yeah that guy was slightly good looking, but the friend. THE FRIEND! Where have I seen him before?!” Ciana said incred-ulously. “He doesn’t ring a bell, but the blue eyed guy is UNFORGETTA-BLE!” Celeste gushed. “Come on, let’s go...” Ciana said rolling her eyes. The rest of the day was uneventful; except for the fact she couldn’t forget her encounter with Blue Eyes and his very familiar friend who were both conveniently in 4 of her 7 classes.

Ciana took the bus home, and as she reached the driveway of her humble beach home, she saw her mom’s car wasn’t there yet. Ciana walked in, dropped her heavy backpack on the old wooden floor, of her 25 year old beach house. The floorboard creaked and gave way because of the backpack’s abnormally heavy weight. Ciana cursed as a puff of dust grew and she waved her hands, trying to get the dust out of her face. Unable to see where she was going, being her clutzy self, she tripped, and landed in front of a box. As the dust finally settled, she looked around, surveying the damage. She stood up, and wiped the remaining dust off of her legs. She reached inside the hole, and pulled out the box. Pondering for a moment over whether or not to open it, she decided to go for it. The plaque read ‘LUCIAN HOPE’. “Dad?” she asked as a tear escaped down her face. She immediate-ly wiped it away. Ciana told herself not to cry over a memory that almost ceased to exist.

“Riiiing! Riiiiing!”Ciana jumped and took her phone out of her pocket, and was surprised to hear her mom’s worried voice. “Hello?” “Hi mom!” “I’m not able to come home tonight...” “What!? MOM, ARE YOU OK?” “Yes sweetie, the traffic is just too much, and at this rate I won’t be home until 2 in the morning.” Ciana could hear the exaggeration in her voice, but consented. Her mom continued, “ I’m staying in a hotel tonight.” “Yes!” Ciana whispered. “What? Sweetie? Are you still there?” “Oh, yeah, mom, I’ll be fine. I have tons of homework to do. I love you. Stay safe.” Ciana told her mom assuringly. “Okay bye, take care!” Her mom rushed to say as Ciana heard cars honking through the phone. Ciana was so tired, she forgot about everything and went to to bed and had a restless sleep.

Ciana woke up the next morning. “Saturday, here I am!” Now she could explore the floors of her house in peace. Ciana, being very disorga-nized, started taking off floorboards one by one, deserting the box with her dad’s name on it. Nothing. As Ciana was nearing the point of giving up- she saw something peeking out of the corner of the floorboards she had thrown in a pile. It was a silver key. It was the one her mom always wore around her neck, or at least identical, because her mom never took it off, not once, not ever. Ciana had one as well, but hers was gold. She reached to grab the newly found mysterious key, but pulled back. She remem-bered the box she had found earlier. She saw that next to the plaque was a keyhole. As she picked up the key, she saw something she hadn’t noticed before. It was such a familiar symbol, and she recognized it-her family’s symbol. The symbol that was on both of their keys as well. Didn’t her mom always wear her necklace? How could there be one just like hers? Well, both of their keys had their initials engraved on them. She looked down at the key and checked the initials on this one:

“L.H.” The realization clicked. Ciana stood up and navigated through the

destroyed floor to where she found the box. She sat down and hesitantly inched toward the key to the keyhole. She turned the key slowly and the

lid miraculously popped open. Ciana gasped as she uncovered the mystery

before her.

Caspian “Z.C.Hope” Zayn Caspian Hope. Caspian fingered the golden key around his neck. He thought about that girl at the human school earlier today. She had one exactly like his. But it couldn’t be her, could it? As the key was slipping out of his hand, it started growing warmer, that only meant two things. Something was wrong, or something was about to happen- he hadn’t quite figured that part out yet. He had only discovered the key’s powers a few months ago. The key was growing abnormally hot, it was the same feeling he had gotten when he first saw that girl, Ciana. Cas-pian knew he had looked at her like she was crazy, but he had also felt like he knew her from somewhere. He looked around, and spotted a familiar face from the window of a nearby beach house. He took a step towards it, and pulled back, as the key burned his chest. “Ouch!” The girl looked up, and then he knew. Her face looked too much like his own. She was the one.

Ciana Ciana was engrossed in the letter she had found in the box. A letter her mom had written to her dad. She glanced up when she heard some-one yelling outside. It was Blue eyes’s familiar friend! His eyes widened as she saw him, and he disappeared as soon as she blinked. “Hey! No! Wait!” Ciana yelled desperately. She dropped the letter, and ran out the door. She searched across the infinite stretch of sand and into the glistening waves. A loud splash caught her attention, and ran out of the corner of her eye. She glimpsed movement in the waves. Ciana slammed the door shut and ran after it.

Caspian The sea always calmed Caspian. Even when he was little, swimming in its serenity was the always his favorite pass-time. He didn’t think Ciana knew she was a mermaid. He wasn’t even sure she was a mermaid. Thinking fast, he dove into the water before Ciana could make any past connections with her mermaid self, or him. He imme-diately transformed, and started swimming. All of his worries disappeared

underwater, except occasionally,Mr. Webster’s English tests. Human grammer was so much more com-plicated than dolphin- what went through human minds? He never quite understood . He stopped swimming abruptly when he heard a nervous splash. He turned around and saw a slowly struggling figure sink frantically to the ocean floor.

Ciana The last few minutes were a strangled blur. She had never learned how to swim, and had an allergy to ocean water! What was she thinking!? The last thing Ciana remembered was jumping into the evening waves of Australia’s shore, following the face that she believed she had seen in the picture, and letter she had left on the house’s floor. To “Caspian” from “M.H”, Minerva Hope, her mother. She was so lost in thought, she was delirious. Sinking down, Ciana felt a strange tingling sensation in her legs. She looked down, wondering why she hadn’t drowned, and before her, laid a vast expanse of shimmering, emerald green scales. Then she looked over to her side to see the remarkable face of…

Caspian Caspian swam up to the falling figure, and grabbed her arms, but before he could get a hold of her, she transformed and swam into a twirling fit. He grabbed her waist and whispered, “We now reunite, as brother and sister, let this be the beginning of a new era...”

Ciana17 desperate minutes later…Ciana was freaking out. No, let’s rephrase that. Ciana was breaking down. First, she turned into a fish. Second, this dude, Caspian also turned into a fish. Third,THEY WERE FREAKING MERMAIDS! Well, mermaid and merman. Not like that this clarification makes the situation any better. Caspian had saved her from becoming shark bait by pulling her up to the surface. He said something to her right before she nearly passed out. Something about brothers and sisters? Anyway, as soon as she was fully back onto the sand, she was dry. DRY. Not a single drop of water. So many

thoughts were running through Ciana’s head. So much confusion, but so many more answers, as to why she couldn’t touch water. Why her had dad left, most likely. And what about her mom? Was she aware of this mermaid situation? She sat shaking uncontrollably in her living room. She had dragged the mystery guy to her house, crying out everything she had inside of her. He told her his name is Caspian. And then, she demanded answers.

CaspianCiana dragged Caspian into her house. “What happened to your floor?”He watched curiously as silent tears streamed down her face, when he no-ticed the destroyed floor and the box with a much too familiar key. He held out his hand, and helped her up. Ciana sat down on her couch, directly across from Caspian and looked at him expectantly. She took the whole sit-uation better than he thought she would. She definitely had a better temper than her father. He took a deep breath, and began to reveal all.

“Well… um… I guess…” “Spill!” Ciana yelled impatiently. “We are twins.” “Wait a second. Hold up. HOW COME I NEVER KNEW ABOUT YOU?!” “Well...we… okay. Long story short: Our merman dad fell in love with our human mom and they had twins. Our parents couldn’t agree with the whole mermaid situation, so Dad took me, and Mom kept you.” “...” “Ciana?” “...” “I’m really sorry, uh, that was a little abrupt...”Ciana glared at Caspian and picked up a paper from the floor. “How can you explain this? How come YOU got to communicate with MY moth-er, while I sat there like a loser with a dad I didn’t know and could barely remember. Why?” “Your mom never let you communicate with dad because she was worried about what he would reveal to you.” “What do you mean ‘reveal’” “I mean that you knowing about your mermaid powers isn’t some-

thing that your mom wanted you to be exposed to. She wanted you to live a normal teenage life” “You mean a life without touching water? How is that normal?” “I guess I never-” “OF COURSE YOU HAVEN’T! You know what? I want to meet my dad. I want to know-”Now it was Caspian’s turn to interrupt.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Why not?! Don’t you understand? You got to live under water! Wait. Did you get to live underwater?”

“Well, yes. But no. There is a lot to tell-”

“Ok, Caspian, you should probably go now. We can continue this tomor-row. My- I mean our, i guess- mom is coming home soon. And- well...”

“I guess. As you already know, Mom and I wrote letters for a while. We haven’t seen each other in a whi-”Just as Caspian was finishing his sentence, the front door swung open.

“Ciana, sweetie, what happened to the floor!? And who is thi- Caspian?”Minerva Hope dropped her bags, and silently stood as she took in her son’s presence.

Minerva First Lucian, now Caspian. How many family encounters could happen in two days? She was missing the big picture. Lucian had shown up at Minerva’s hotel last night, unseen for 14 years, and now her son was sitting in her living room, talking to her daughter. Wait. Did Ciana know the secret? Did Ciana have a tail?” Did Ciana know about the whole sibling deal? Well, she must have. Minerva looked nervously, meeting Ciana’s glare and Caspian’s nervous gaze. Minerva tried to forget about the not-know-ing-each-other-for-their-whole-life situation and took a long, deep, slow, breath.

had tried so hard to keep away was now revealed. Everything was about to change. And then, two figures came through the door.

Ciana Ciana was mind blown about what just happened. Then, Blue eyes had to just randomly appear out of nowhere. With some other strang-er. The stranger spoke: “Minerva! Thank goodness I found you! Wait. I brought Octavius’s son with me.” Ciana noted the seriousness and deepness of his voice. His gaze wandered around the room. He hadn’t noticed Ciana yet. He spoke again. “Caspian! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” Ciana and Caspian spoke in unison as they said, “Daddy?”

Click. Groups of people, one at a time, screeching at the top of their lungs. As a group, they were disjointed, not following any tempo. The audience clapped, joyfully enjoying the music. Safiya and Jace sat, with tears caress-ing their faces. They watched their 30 year old daughter Larissa howl to the point that it seemed as if she was being slaughtered. Safiya and Jace couldn’t do anything to prevent her voice getting modified. If anyone rebelled against the modifications the government was forcing onto every-body, they would be tortured and then beaten to death. However, what the government was doing was what they thought was good. They were making everybody equal in their eyes. At the age of seven, every child was equipped with either a chip or some type of modification to make sure nobody had superior talent in any particular skill set. For example, if a person was strong in academics, they were equipped with a chip in their head to interrupt their thought process, and to lower their IQ so they had the same mental ability as everybody else. If a person was good at dance, they would have permanent heavy metal weights in their feet and hands to force them to not move and dance as well. If a person was good looking, they would force a mask permanently on their face. This was the government’s way of making every person the exact same, equal, in their eyes. Another reason the government had made everybody “equal” was because they feared that if someone was more superior than them, the individual could overthrow the government. All of the sudden, the television started flickering in the colors of the rain-bow. A monotone voice started speaking through the monitor. “Attention all citizens of Yameresia (Yam-eur-sia). Charles Django has broken out of Chereau Correctional Facility, the most armed prison in the world. He is now a wanted man. He was last seen driving a blue Sedan. He has a long scar on his right arm, and a mole on his left ear. If you have any information regarding either the escape of Charles Django or where he could be, you are required to call in the the FBI phone number that will be shown on the screen. Thank you for your cooperation.” Absolute silence. Safiya went and turned off the monitor. After what seemed like an eternity of silence, there was a banging on the door. “FBI, open up!” “Hello?” Jace said with a shred of fear trembling in his voice.“We have a search warrant to search the premises and the surrounding area of your house.”“Under what probable cause?”“We have reason to believe that you are harbouring the fugitive Charles Django.”

Several men wearing SWAT uniforms marched in, armed with guns. The minute they walked in, they all started yelling orders and turning every-thing upside down, searching every inch of the area. Jace and Safiya stood helplessly, watching their house getting ripped to shreds. “All Clear.” one of the members if the SWAT team said. The captain came over to us. “If you have any information about your son that you are withholding from the police, that is a federal offense. ”“We don’t have any information” Jace whispered in a scared tone, with tears welling up in his eyes. The captain gave a stone cold stare. “Cuff them.”As Jace and Safiya protested with all of their might, they were shoved into the SWAT van. They soon approached the Chereau Police station. Being the most frightened they had ever been, Safiya was first brought into Inter-rogation Room A, as Jace panically waited in the waiting room. Staring at people seemed to be the Captains hobby at this point. “What do you know?” The captain screamed aggressively. When Safiya didn’t answer, all the Captain said was “You asked for it.” To Be Continued...

“Sound the alarm!” The tyrant was going to invade the last known inde-pendant civilization, Bexham. But it was already too late, as their forces swiftly made their way into the city walls. They destroyed everything in their path. Their leader Sergeant Spike was their only hope. The dictator’s goal was to capture Spike and lock him up in order to take over the people’s control. “Everyone take cover! We need to shoot from behind solid walls, if you want to live through this war then we have to work together!” Spike was trying to encourage his citizens to defend themselves.“Spike! Run into our base and escape from here NOW! If you don’t we will have no hope. Your powers are not ready, you have not trained yet,” said one of his Secretaries, and she was shot through the wall.Spike took the advice and ran as far as he could, he knew that he was un-able to control his energy, so he ran faster than the wind. He finally reached the base but it was extremely large and Spike would need to keep running. There were still all of those children and elder people who were in the hid-den villages but Spike had to forget them, it was their only hope.

As the battle pursued, Spike was rapidly deteriorating. He was also running out of time . His time would be up and it would all be over. Dictator Kro-nos had already reached his secret lair and caught Spike as he was running. His guards rushed to his aid managing to capture Spike. To celebrate, they hastily got a broadcast ready. “Today, we have won. Not just this battle, but the whole war. It is over. Spike is captured. Now is the time for all of you to declare yourselves as under rule. Citizens of Bexham I declare you all as a part of the United Nations dictatorship. Your leader will be disposed of as soon as we get in-formation and deal damage to him for resisting our power. Bexham Resis-tance is disbanded.” “We will never surrender!,”shouted a citizen in the crowd. He was quickly shot down by one of the soldiers, and after that, no one made a single move.

A couple months later…

It was February and Kronos decided that it was time to get rid of the leader Spike. The scientists strapped him down into a chair located near the newly built rocket ship. He had a broadcast ready to destroy the faith of the peo-ple and show them what would happen if they continued to do this.

Page 72: Dragon tears Powered Uniforn Honrs Only the nector of the gods · PDF fileThe Legend of Savage Storm ... which they were told to paint worlds they would dedicate ... Reverse her magic

=72=

“ALL SYSTEMS GO! T-MINUS 1 MINUTE!” The scientists welted 4D live feeding cameras into the chamber. Although this was a death sentence, Kronos wanted to consider it a scientific experiment. He was going to… Venus. The scorching hot planet with torturous winds and nature was something even the worst torture chambers on Earth didn’t contain. Spike was preparing to admit defeat. At this point, his destiny seemed guaran-teed. He braced himself as the final 10 seconds came into play.

“...5...4….3...2...1! Blastoff! I’ll see you another time Spike! In another life! Mwahahahaha,” and Spike watched Kronos’s nefarious smile as he looked through the window.

Because the chair was not strapped to the ground, Spike dashed all around the ship. It took one minute to get into outer space, but to Spike, it seemed like hours. Fortunately, the chair broke during impact, and he was able to free himself. Throbbing in pain, he looked out the window and saw where he was.

“Dying out here wouldn’t be so bad..,”Spike thought. Space was beautiful. There was no noise, giving Spike the peace he had desired for so many months. A couple years ago, when the United Nations dictatorship was spreading, he was always busy shouting and commanding his forces to listen to him. Due to this, he was working almost spending entire days planning his base and strategies to save everyone who wished to follow him in his quest. Spike was lost in these happy thoughts until he saw where he was going. Venus was nothing like the rest of space. It was beautiful on the outside with bright clouds making it look like the goddess herself.

3 months later… It was time. He was in the orbit of Venus and he was to be burned and toasted over the Maat Mons, the largest and deadliest volcano on Venus. Although it was already pretty deadly.

Kronos’s radio control center connected to the ship and told Spike, “Your time is up, prepare for landing… prepare to be incinerated!”Shouted Kro-nos with glee.

Spike retaliated,“You’ll never get away with this!” Even though he knew what would eventually occur.

Page 73: Dragon tears Powered Uniforn Honrs Only the nector of the gods · PDF fileThe Legend of Savage Storm ... which they were told to paint worlds they would dedicate ... Reverse her magic

=73=

The ship put the boosters on and the ship descended down into the plan-et, the ship was immediately getting destroyed and Spike was still alive. WHAT????? This was impossible, could this be the power he was destined to have? The power he had searched for inside him for as long as he could remember? The power to resist insane weather forces? But then it struck, he was beaten down by lightning and the volcano erupted!

Screams emerged from Spike although it could not be heard. Pain and agony flows through THE veins of his body, into his lungs, and inside his heart, and then suddenly… He is floating, he is alive, his eyes turn dark red and then he moves his hands… his hands shoot lightning. He thinks of lava… his hands shoot lava. He has the power of NATURE, controlling the elements. He was no longer Spike the General. He is now known as Sav-age-Storm. If he had the power of nature, then that means he could supply himself with air in an area where no life is known to exist.

He was done with Kronos. He made him suffer on Venus with so much pain. And now it was his turn to get back at him.

Back on Earth………

“Work slaves work!!,”Shouted Kronos with glee. “With Spike gone, i’m free to control everyone and anyone who crosses my path!”

Suddenly, a citizen exclaimed,” Look up there in the sky!”

“It’s a bird!”“It’s a plane!”“It’s John Cena!”“ITS SERGEANT SPIKE!”

Sergeant Spike was gliding in the air, rapidly decsending, directly above Kronos.

Kronos called in all of his troops.

“All soldiers report to base NOW OR YOU WILL BE KILLED!!!!!”

Giant armies went into Kronos’s base, those who were armed were let in.

Page 74: Dragon tears Powered Uniforn Honrs Only the nector of the gods · PDF fileThe Legend of Savage Storm ... which they were told to paint worlds they would dedicate ... Reverse her magic

=74=

Those without weapons were sent outside to die. In the base, Kronos made all of his soldiers line up around a perimeter, all aiming at the entrance, there were grenades, rocket launchers, shotguns, laser cannons, disintegra-tors and they all were ready to destroy Spike… Or now SAVAGE STORM.

With the powers of nature, he gave life to the dead that helped him fight this war, and he brought them out of the grounds with wind. They went marching towards the base. He and his soldiers chanted SAVAGE STORM! SAVAGE STORM! SAVAGE STORM! Savage Storm wasn’t finished yet. He stormed his way through Kronos’ ranks, eventually reaching Kronos. By the time Kronos caught wind of what was going on, it was too late. With one swift sweep of his hand, Savage Storm made Kronos go round and round…...until he gets blown off the face of the planet. The siege was over. The enemy lost. Savage Storm and his people prevail. With the assistance of their new found super hero, the city of Bexham travelled all over the world, rescuing the people from their suffering. Savage Storm himself promised that the world will be free again. “I will finish what you started Kronos.” Eventually, they had travelled all around the world, giving light to all the captured cities, and freeing the siege.

Once again, good prevails over evil……………...

I walked down the street of the mortal town. Nobody bowed down to me, despite the fact that it was I that molded them from clay so many years ago. No one gave me a second glance, ignoring the fact that my skilled hands shaped their very ancestors, patiently working for weeks to create them. I glared at them, the little girls hopscotching in their colorful summer dress-es and the little boys with rosy cheeks passing a hula hoop between them. Only one of them paid me any attention, a little baby, lying on the grass with eyes wide, staring at me as I walked by. I simply stared back, daring her to say something. I could tell she could sense my power. “Lysander, can you come back in?” A woman called.I turned around upon hearing my mortal name. The humans could not know I was a titan, so I had to take on a mortal form, title, and family. I did not appreciate it, but it was a necessary evil. The political aspects of the godly world were insanely complicated, and I hated to tangle in politics. So I escaped to the human world, taking the form of a young child, one who would age like a human the longer I stayed. In my human body, my hair was like the brown feathers of a brilliant hawk, splayed out in a chestnut array. My form was in a stage of human awkwardness, my limbs gangly and body thin.My human family annoyed me greatly, their simple humanity driving me to the brink of insanity. They all spoke in quiet, happy voices, though they argued and fought at night, when they thought the children and I were asleep. Though the children thought I couldn’t see, I knew they shot disgusted looks at me, pulling faces and giggling, undoubtedly about me. They were so stupid, waving their little arms around and screaming for “Mama” and “Dada” whenever they were terrified about the things that wouldn’t make a difference in the long run. They didn’t deserve to be in such close proximity with me, absorbing my air of grace.“Would you be okay with Mac’n’Cheese for lunch?” My mortal caregiver asked.“I would prefer the meal of a more mature audience, but you may prepare what you wish,” I coldly said, my annoyance overt in my tone.“Okay, Lysander. So Mac’n’Cheese will work?” She asked, which I acknowl-edged with a curt nod.She looked taken aback by my words and lack thereof, but continued to call over my mortal siblings. One by one they filed into the house, their height not even reaching my hips as they shot their tongues out of their mouths in quick, mocking gestures. I watched their actions with scorn.“Foolish apes,” I muttered disdainfully under my breath.None of them heard; they just shuffled in, then climbed into chairs. There

was a place set for me. As per usual, I would not be eating with them; I refused to. I don’t think any of them noticed. After receiving my serving, I returned back to the outdoor patio. The street I had been pacing along minutes before had emptied, the children leaving the afternoon heat for the indoors, where it was cooler due to recent primitive technology. The girl from before was inside. Her blanket was lying out in the yard across the street from my house. So was a toy, lying there with a sad aban-doned atmosphere, facing me. I crossed the street without looking to my sides, nobody would dare hit me with their automobiles. Especially today, while I moved with a purpose. I walked across the large lawn, sweeping up the toy as I passed by before knocking harshly on the door.It swung open, revealing a slightly older child with blond hair and green eyes. I suspected this child was the brother of the one who could detect my power, and I studied him, trying to find out if he, like his sister, could tell. He could not, but in order to get close to my only worshipper, I would have to make friends with the family. I smiled down at him.“Hi, I’m Lysander, I live across the street, may I speak with your mother?” I asked. My mortal name felt bitter; how I wished I could be called Prometheus. But that would reveal who I was, a dangerous thing to do. I’d have to wait to tell the child, until she could understand.“Mommy!” the little boy shouted.A woman walked into the room, carrying my worshipper, who softly slept, and quietly asked, “What’s wrong, Sammy?”Sammy pointed at me, and ran off, leaving me, a woman, and this child. Upon closer inspection, I saw the youth of this child, who couldn’t be much older than two or three months. It was quite a gap to my mortal form’s age of fifteen. It would be a problem to get close, unless I posed as a caregiver.“I’m looking from a job, and I was wondering if you needed a babysitter?” I questioned. After a small amount of persuasion, the answer shifting between “maybe” and “no” for weeks, I was given the caretaking of the children as my first official job. I was to take care of the baby, whose name I learned was Arlie, and her brothers, Sammy and Ben, while her parents worked. Everyday, after school, I went by the elementary school, picked up Sammy, then went to our street, where Arlie and Ben would be waiting in their house, before their mother left for the evening, and I would stay until their father re-turned. Sammy wasn’t my main priority, but I could take him on, as long as he was quiet and listened to my stories.

=79=

I told them about my adventures, what the mortals called “myths,” of how I had stolen fire, created humans, and been chained to a rock and attacked by vultures. Sammy grew disinterested, complaining to me about his bore-dom. Ben lasted longer, but soon opted against storytime. But Arlie was always interested. When she was ten, I was a year out of college, with an awful job at a depart-ment store. I only worked in the mornings and on weekends, so I could still walk Arlie home from school, then take care of her. As I grew closer to the family, I grew distant from my own. Pretty soon, they were just nuisances, blocking me from my true family: my follower. Unfortunately, there was only Arlie, but I knew I would find another. It was on a Tuesday once, when we got into the topic of her family. She confessed to me that they treated Sammy, who now insisted on being called Sam, and Ben with a kinder nature. They saw that I treated her kinder, and figured if I was negligent towards their sons, they would be negligent to Arlie. That wasn’t exactly what they said, or what she told me, but I knew that the whole “we don’t have the money” act was a fraud. I told her that one day, the Gods would realize who I was, the mor-tals would bow down to me, and I would buy her a castle and she would receive only the kindest of treatment. I repeated this remark over the years like a mantra. I told her this at age twelve, when her mother died, and her father fired me, taking away her support. Once again they used the lack of money excuse, making it seem more realistic by downsizing in house. They attempted to make it look like they treated her politely. I was not fooled. Her brothers seemed to get the luxury items. Sammy had moved out, going away to college, and Ben got a large room to himself. Ben did not need such a large room; he was only a bratty child whose parents spoiled him. Arlie deserved it; she was a worthier human. She had to be to see my powers. Her brothers’ luxury items became more and more apparent, and as time passed, I grew sick and tired of it. It started when I was walking her home one day when she was fifteen. It was a habit I still carried on from when I babysat for her. We were walking down the street. It was hot outside and school was only in session for a few more weeks. I could tell Arlie was upset, so I bought her a soda on the way to her house. If the luxury made her broth-ers’ life easier, it might help her too. We were almost at our destination. We turned a corner and crossed the street. At that point, we were next to a park that we used to play at when she was little. The memories made me smile. They did not make Arlie smile.

“What’s wrong, Arlie?” I asked. “It’s nothing, Ander, I’m just tired,” she replied, avoiding my gaze, sweep-ing her blonde hair over her eyes as she looked down.“Look me in the eyes,” I ordered. She flinched, but looked me in the eyes and continued, “I’m just tired. I didn’t get much sleep last night.”“Why not?” I stared at her.Her sleeping conditions should be suitable. It was relatively warm outside, but the temperature dropped at night, strikingly cold for such a temperate location. The weather was fine with a blanket, though. I had seen her bed one night when I checked in on her through a nightly astral projection, so I knew she was comfortable in her slumber. Her exercise levels were average for her age, so she should be rather tired out by the time of her rest, so I couldn’t comprehend why she wouldn’t get sleep.“It gets cold in my room at night, the other rooms have heaters and fire-places, mine just has blankets.” Arlie explained.“Do you want me to get you more blankets?” I inquired. She shook her head, walking away from me, since we had arrived at her house. I stared after her as she walked up to the doorstep, pulling a key from her pocket and unlocking the door. It was some time after she went inside before I turned around and walked home. I lived four blocks in the opposite direction, in my small apartment. Fortunately, I didn’t have to work in the afternoons most days, so I could walk Arlie home from school. It was tradition. Although I was free most times, I had a job, working as a website designer for a mortal insurance company. My superior knowledge made work easy, but for some reason, I had gotten fired from the past six occupations, none lasting more than two years. I pondered over how to help, on how to keep Arlie at a reasonable body temperature for her, so she could get in a better mood. I thought back to all the myths humans had written about me, scanning through them for a useful one. Only one came to mind, and I knew what I had to do. I would steal fire from the Gods, from Zeus on his high and mighty throne. After all, they had taken it from us Titans, I would only be returning the favor. I planned when to do it, deciding that night was the best choice. As soon as it was dark, I left my house. There was a stop on the way that I had to make. I was not in possession of the fire, and I would have to steal it from the Gods, from Olympus. I pulled a hoodie over my head, walking down Main Street to the familiar corner store. A sign outside read “Olym-pus Convenience Store.” Zeus must have gone crazy, opening our world to the mortals and giving it that stupid name. He was completely psychotic,

to the point of it being dangerous, it was ridiculous.I waltzed through the doors, immediately noticing the cyclops watching. Their heads darting around in circles, seeing everything. I’d have to be careful not to get caught, for if I did, it would be right back to the vultures. Which would essentially be very bad, as my physical being couldn’t handle another beating from the vultures, and the wrath of the Gods was a mighty force, one I didn’t want to mess with.I was quick about it. I snagged the fire off a brazier. It was surprisingly easy, or so I thought. As I approached my exit, then walked out the door, a cyclops noticed. He started screaming and turned on a flashing light. I ran. Behind me, nature spirits were yelling at me. One of them had called for a God, I could tell. I hoped it was a minor God that I could overpower.Oh, how I ran, desperate to keep Arlie warm. I made it to her house, the cyclops screeching, joined by some of his brethren. The lights were still flashing, making me dizzy. I went back around the house, to Arlie’s win-dow, prying it open and slipping inside. I walked up next to her bed.“Arlie, wake up. Hey, wake up,” I instructed. Her eyes blinked open, before widening in shock. “What are you doing here? How’d you even get in?”“The window. Look, Arlie, I stole fire from the Gods for you. Look,” I said, triumphantly holding up the fire that I held in my hand. “What are you doing with that lighter?” She panicked.“I brought you fire,” I answered, before I set the fire in her room. I walked out of the house.I left, running home. I knew that the Gods would catch me unless I was there, since it provided an alibi. I looked both ways, then entered my small house. I deserved a mansion. I layed down though, and went to sleep. How could a sleeping Titan steal from the Gods? It was the perfect plan. When I woke up, it was a large amount of time later. The television was playing above me, with an old, dumb mortal reading some story. The story was about Arlie.“The suspect in this murder is Lysander Cadmium, age thirty. Arlie’s former baby sitter, he was fired almost four years. Her father reported that since then, he has seen Cadmium stalking around their garden at night and staring into windows. The family was in the process of getting a restraining order, and Arlie was well aware.” The newscaster reported.I was shocked. I continued to watch. “A few days ago, in a police interview as evidence was gathered against Cadmium, Arlie revealed that the pressure from him following her was causing depression.”

No! She wasn’t depressed! She had me, therefore having no reason to be upset! “Lysander Cadmium suffered a car accident as a young child, and acquired severe brain damage that led him to delusions. We suspect he was delirious when he committed the crime. If you see this man, please call the hotline below.”I scoffed as they switched to the next segment. This was preposterous, impossible. I stormed out of my house. How dare they disrespect me. How dare they use my mortal name, my last name nonetheless. I am not de-lirious. I am Lysander Prometheus, a Titan, a God, and I am not a simple puny minded mortal. I slammed the door behind me as I left. Just like Arlie.
