FRONT COVER

FRONT COVER ANALYSISThe masthead will be one of the main features to draw the reader’s attention. It is going to be in a large, brightly-coloured font that will contrast with the plain background of the image. This will make the name of the magazine very memorable for the audience.

The strapline will state that the magazine is the ‘Number one hip hop music magazine’ This will help sell the magazine as it makes it sound superior when compared to other similar magazines in its genre. It will be in a smaller font so it doesn’t distract from the masthead.

The coverlines will highlight important information and features from within the magazine. They will help to persuade the reader to buy the magazine. They are also in a contrasting colour but not too bright or large so it doesn’t draw the attention away from the image.

The purpose of the main coverline is to sell the main article to the reader. It is in a large bright font as it will attract your attention to the artist in which it relates to. It will include a short statement from the article as to give a insight on what the feature is about which will hopefully interest the readers.

The main image is going to be of an upcoming artist. She will be dressed and posing in a ‘sexy’ style. This will hopefully attract to both audiences as many male readers would be attracted to her whereas females would aspire to be like her.

The barcode, date/issue and website will be kept in a small font and in the bottom corner so it would be in the way and won’t take the attention away from the important information on the front of the cover.

The footer will be in a bright coloured box so it will stand out from the rest of the page. It will also list popular artists from the hip hop genre that the readers are likely to be interested in, which should attract them to the magazine.

CONTENTS PAGE

Page 5: Drafts and analysis for magazine

CONTENTS PAGE ANALYSISThe title states ‘contents’ in a large and bright font so the audience will be aware straight away of what page they’re on. It will be in red(same as on cover) to ensure that there is consistency throughout the magazine to keep it looking professional.

The date/issue will allow the reader to know how recent the issue they are reading is. It will be kept small and not in too much of a contrasting colour so it doesn’t distract from the important information

The main image includes the main cover star which will show the link between the cover and contents page. It will dominate most of the page as the magazine will be focused on her.

The subheadings state what the information below is going to include. This will help the reader read the parts that they are most interested in.

The grey rectangles will separate the text into sections which organises the information and makes it clearer for the audience to read.

All the text is kept small and to the right-hand side so it doesn’t distract from the dominant image. It is fitted around the artist so it is clear the focus is on her.

The logo will be the same as the one on the front cover but in a smaller font. This will show a clear link between the front cover and the contents page.

The page number is going to be in a red colour to ensure it matches the rest of the pages. It will be there as it is an essential feature of any contents page.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

Page 7: Drafts and analysis for magazine

DOUBLE PAGE ANALYSISThe main image includes the artist featured on all the other pages, so this shows a clear link between these pages. The image is of the artist looking more casual to give it a more relaxed approach to the article.

The background will be plain white. This is so the readers attention will be solely focused on the important parts of the double page spread, like the text and image. It also suits the colour scheme throughout the magazine.

The page number and logo will be in the same place as the other pages and in the same colours etc. as the others. This is in order to create consistency on all the pages and keep it looking professional.

The smaller images are kept this size to ensure it doesn’t distract from the main image. It also will include pictures that are relevant to the article. They also will have a caption to ensure readers can understand the picture. It will have a white border in order to look like an actual photograph.

DOUBLE PAGE ANALYSISThe title will be similar to the one on the cover so it shows a clear link between the pages. It will be in a large font in order to stand out from the rest of the article. Also the name ‘GRACE’ will be in a red font to show that the article is clearly about her.

The strapline will quickly give a summary of what the interview is about. It will be in a small font as it is not the most important feature on the page. However, it will be in a bright colour to ensure it isn’t completely ignored by the reader.

The byline is again small and not in a contrasting colour. This is so it doesn’t distract from the main article. It is obviously a necessary feature of a double page spread.

The text starts with a contrasting colour than when compared to the rest of the text in order to make it clear this is the start of the interview. Also the interviewers questions will be in a bold font in order to see the difference between the questions and the answer. It will be seperated into columns so it doesn’t seem as overwhelming and uses up the space efficiently.

The page number and logo will be in the same place as the other pages and in the same colours etc. as the others. This is in order to create consistency on all the pages and keep it looking professional.
