Creative Europe (2014 - 2020) - Culture Sub-programme Call for proposal: European networks EAC/S18/2013 The Culture sub-programme of Creative Europe supports cultural and creative organisations with a view to helping them operate transnationally and promoting cross-border circulation of works of culture and mobility of cultural players. It helps to launch projects with a European dimension and to share cultural content across national, and European, borders; it enables cultural and creative players to work internationally and to internationalise their careers and activities in the EU and beyond; it funds cooperation projects, literary translations, networks and platforms.

Virtual Museum of Mediterranean Diet (V.M.M.D)

Assumption

The Mediterranean Diet is in the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.The Mediterranean diet involves a set of skills, knowledge, rituals, symbols and traditions concerning

crops, harvesting, fishing, animal husbandry, conservation, processing, cooking, and particularly the sharing and consumption of food. Eating together is the foundation of the cultural identity and continuity of communities throughout the Mediterranean basin. It is a moment of social exchange and communication, an affirmation and renewal of family, group or community identity. The Mediterranean diet emphasizes values of hospitality, neighbourliness, intercultural dialogue and creativity, and a way of life guided by respect for diversity. It plays a vital role in cultural spaces, festivals and celebrations, bringing together people of all ages, conditions and social classes. It includes the craftsmanship and production of traditional receptacles for the transport, preservation and consumption of food, including ceramic plates and glasses. Women play an important role in transmitting knowledge of the Mediterranean diet: they safeguard its techniques, respect seasonal rhythms and festive events, and transmit the values of the element to new generations. Markets also play a key role as spaces for cultivating and transmitting the Mediterranean diet during the daily practice of exchange, agreement and mutual respect.

Main objectives- improve the local knowledge of the principle of Mediterranean Diet (in the citizens)- create an international network of the cultural operator on this field (a new association)- connect local no-profit operator, association and corporates in the logical of the “short chain”

for a sustainable economy

Sub-objectives:

- give opportunity to old people to transfer old receipts to young people- give opportunity to women to contribute to the “life of the museum” working at home (insert

receipts on line, give advices…)

- to “theorize” the concept of a “living museum” - a museum where corporates and citizens find together to improve the product /services/business

- to use the example of the “rice fair of Isola della Scala “ - Italy like a best practice (how a short chain can contribute to a sustainable economy

Activities:

- creation of the network - creation of interactive systems (app on tablet/smart phone, QRcode.,..) to educate people who visit

the museum- connect a lot of local corporates that produce “quality food” - create a “virtual guide” of the museum on a modern platform - workshop on the theme of the possibility of Mediterranean Diet to transfer values, traditions …

Outcome: an association /network that will promote the Mediterranean Diet all over the world
