Draft Minutes of the Western Corridor Plan Hearing Subcommittee held at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, Porirua Date: 12 December 2005 The hearings resumed on Monday 12 December 2005 at 9.30am after a powhiri by staff at Te Wananga. Present Members of the Subcommittee: Cr Terry McDavitt (chairperson), Mr Alan Bickers, Sir Brian Elwood, Mr Charles Finny, and Ms Kay Saville-Smith. 1. Apologies: None 2 Hearing of oral submissions continued.

The Chairperson said the Te Wananga o Aotearoa staff honoured them with an impressive and gracious welcome. He also thanked the Porirua City Council for their part in arranging the welcome.

The Chairperson introduced the panel and said it was a hearings sub-committee; an independent

group appointed to hear submissions on the Western Corridor consultation plan. The panel’s main task was to listen and understand. The submitters today were all key ones and would have half an hour to speak. A bell would ring at 25 minutes to advise submitter that 5 minutes remained. The Chairperson then explained that the hearings were held under the LGA.
