Thanks for all the cards and prayers. I miss you all but you have a great board that will keep LRW going. I will be in rehab for two or three weeks but my goal is to walk out of here. My surgery went well and I now have a titanium rod in my left femur. This is the time when all your good work comes to fruition. Candidates and the Pierce County Republican party need your help now to Get out the Vote. Remind your neighbors to vote and to vote Republican. We need to keep the GOP Senate majority and increase our members in the legislature. Special thanks to members who volunteered for the fair and to Judy Lawrence’s committee that distributed the Constitutions this month. Also special thanks to the committee that planned and carried out the Western Night. Wish I could have been there with you. Maybe next month.
~Sally Taylor, President

Lots of door belling, phone calls, and numerous community events were effective in getting Dick's message out to his constituents. This resulted in an almost 18% WIN in the August primary. Our greatest need right now is to continue fundraising to get our message out for the general election. Thank you for your continued support.

October….raking leaves, carving pumpkins, sipping hot caramel apple cider….but for the O’Ban campaign, it signals one last month of intense doorbelling, fundraising, phone-banking, TV and mailer ads and everyone’s rainy-day favorite: sign waving! Please join us in our critical last drive to maintain Steve’s senate seat and the R majority.

Thank you for your continuous support during Stan’s important re-election campaign. We have been doorbelling these past few months, working tirelessly to ensure the campaign message is spread throughout District 7. We have marched in community parades, spoken at neighborhood meetings, met voters face-to-face and listened to voters’ concerns. ~Martha Flemming

Boots, cowboy hats, jeans, bolo ties plus lots of laughter and camaraderie made for a festive and fun night at the Lakewood Republican Women’s Country and Western BBQ.
Over 56 members and guests attended the colorful event, which was held September 26th at the Tacoma Golf and Country Club. Proceeds from the BBQ will be used in support of 2016 Republican Candidates.
Former Lakewood Mayor and current Pierce County Councilman Doug Richardson got things rolling with a spirited introduction of guest speaker Joyce McDonald. McDonald is running for Congress in the 10th Congressional District.
Joyce gave an inspiring speech detailing her Scottish background and how it helps her relate to the goal of a more fiscally accountable government. McDonald noted we all work hard for our money and Congress needs to spend it wisely. She then detailed several items in the current budget that could be eliminated and no one would notice they were gone. Moreover, to insure the financial stability of our children’s future, McDonald said she strongly believes Congress should commit to a balanced budget.
Following McDonald’s remarks, Stan Flemming, Pierce County Council District 7 candidate and Paul Wagemann, candidate for Position 2 in the 28th Legislative District both spoke briefly and thanked everyone for their support. They both asked for continued support as the crucial 2014 Election Day nears. Continued on page 7

As the evening drew to an end, an auction of delicious homemade desserts specially baked by LRW members brought in over $1000 in donations.
Bev Raschke gave a special thanks to all who contributed a dessert and also updated everyone on President Sally Taylor’s ongoing recovery from hip surgery.
Connie Lacadie, 2nd Vice President, asked for a round of applause for all those who worked to make the evening a great success!
