Research & related Activities carried out at IIC, IIT Roorkee:

Established Nanoscience Laboratory to synthesize Nanostructured materials by PVD processes. Such as RF/DC Magnetron sputtering system with the facility to deposit Nanocrystalline powder, thin films and multilayers by varying Substrate temperature from – 150°C to 850°C with a base pressure ≈ 10-8 Torr. Thermal Flash evaporation system and Multi- chamber Excimer based PLD (Lambda Physik, KrF) for multilayers and heterostructures of functional nanomaterials. So far 6 major research grants have been received from various funding agencies such as DST (Under Nanoscience program), DRDO, CSIR, DAE and CPRI Bangalore. These facilities are being heavily used by more than a dozen graduate and postgraduate students. Recently 4 B. Techs, 5 M. Techs and 8 Ph.D. Dissertations have been completed from this Nanoscience Laboratory. In addition to it I am also looking after the materials characterization facilities such as SQUID Magnetometer, Scanning probe microscope (SPM), FE-SEM, Powder XRD and 200kV TEM and workshop facilities available with the Centre.
