Role in the project

>Objective:> To develop a novel system able to couple the monitoring and quick damage assessment of critical

infrastructures in an unified approach. The system integrates non invasive and remote sensing technologies, ICT system architectures and spatial data infrastructures in order to provide stakeholder with indicators about the status of the infrastructures, by exploiting information from conventional and non -conventional information sources (also citizens as sensors)

> Expertise: > To design and implement operational strategies for monitoring and diagnostics of infrastructures

from satellite, airborne and ground based platforms. To design and develop ICT system architectures and geospatial data infrastructures able to deal with sensors networks and to provide results through Web-services. Capability to operate in operational conditions and relevant experience about cooperation with end-users.

>Relevant Experience: > ISTIMES FP7 (success story in FP7)

> Integrated System for Transport Infrastructures surveillance and Monitoring by Electromagnetic Sensing

> IREA is center of competence of Italian Civil Protection for remote sensing of soil and infrastructures deformation monitoring

> IMAA-CNR is center of competence of Italian Civil Protection for integrated in situ and remote sensing measurements

> Involvement in Italian Technological Platform “Security Research in Italy” (SERIT)

ISTIMES 2

Products and outcomesMonitoring system :

To implement a system for monitoring and quick damage assessment based on the integration of several electromagnetic sensing technologies already available and assessed (Synthetic Aperture Radar, hyperspectral and infrared sensors, radar systems, optic fiber sensors, sensors for fast displacements..)

ICT system architecture:

To design and implement a system architecture able to command and control a network of heterogeneous sensors and provide information to stakeholders (web interfaces, web services)

Geospatial data infrastructures

Integrate results in a WebScenario 4D (3D and Time) and use citizens as sensors
