Bhola decided to take this problem in his own hands. While everybody was busy doing their own work, Bhola started cleaning his colony. He started by mopping and dusting the street, right outside his house. Then, he moved to the neighbour’s veranda and cleaned that too! Boy! He was tired…But he knew that this task wasn’t easy. After all with great hard work comes the best results. He continued this new exercise without any break. His sister ran down and handed him a glass of chilled buttermilk. So refreshing! He felt new surge of energy in him. The smelly cow dung did not bother him anymore. Neither did the irritating bell of the bicycles. Slowly people started gathering around him.

The Incompetent Genie- Pedro Pablo Sacristán
Page 8 of 22
Once upon a time there was a genie called Bobo, in the land of a small island called Bolabee. He was of the type who comes out of magic lamps and makes wishes come true. Unfortunately, this particular genie was famous for make a mess. Whenever someone rubbed the magic lamp, he would come out and say,
"What is your wish?"
Then a great cloud of smoke would appear and hundreds of things would fly through the air. When people stated their wish the object of their desire would appear in a cloud of dirt, covered in dust.
His untidiness was immeasurable and extremely embarrassing, therefore no one wanted him. His lamp ended up being used only to throw at people, just like a common old box. The genie didn't come out of it for years and became sad and miserable.
That was, until lonely Bobby found the lamp, and could hear the sad cries of Bobo inside. So the he decided to become the genie's friend. The wish Page 9 of 22
he asked to be granted was to be able to enter and leave the lamp, just like the genie could, so they could spend time together.
The genie was happy to grant this wish, and as soon as the Bobby entered the lamp, he could see what the genie's problem was.
It wasn't that he was a bad genie. It was just that he couldn't have been less tidy! In the lamp everything was thrown all over the place. There was no place to walk or to sit! It was obvious that the place had never seen a duster for years. Being a genie, he had all sorts of stuff in there. As the lamp was small, everything was crammed in together so much so that whenever the genie tried to get something, a cloud of dust would fly up.
Bobby held his head in his hands, and Bobo apologised, saying that his job was very important and he had no time for cleaning. But then Bobby remembered his mother's advice, and told the genie that it was more important to keep all his things tidy and in order. Together they decided to give the place a good clean.
It took them quite a few days, but when they finished, everything was gleaming and in its correct place. Now it was so very easy to find whatever gift the kids asked for, and to retrieve it without breaking anything.
Therefore, the genie, Bobo, began to be respected and admired once more in Bolabee.
MORAL: Nothing great can be achieved without order and cleanliness in all things.
