Cultural Fiesta To warm our hearts with the caper of little feet and the sonorous sounds of tender voice, grade I and II organised an enthralling two-day cultural fest. Grade I ‘Prakruthi Parikrama’ – A Rendezvous with Nature

‘Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks that you can think up if only you can try.’ Dr. Seuss

Creativity is as important in education as literacy, and must be treated with equal importance. DPS, Hyderabad gives an opportunity to every student to develop and perform these visual and performing arts to the fullest. One such opportunity is the cultural program, `Prakruthi Parikrama -A Rendezvous with Nature’ which is just not a medley of dance and music but an extraordinary way of expressing the content of the program by using the medium of theatre.

The cultural program for the year 2018-2019 was organized on 26th of January 2019. It shared the date with the 70th Republic Day of India. ‘Prakruthi Parikrama’ – A Rendezvous with Nature presented by grade I students was a mix of dance, music and play which delivered a message about the importance of being in tune with nature, and being enlightened by surrendering to earth’s intelligence so that we could rise up rooted like trees. It focused on being inspired by survival instincts of various beings on this planet.

The program began with an inspiring speech by Mrs. Ruchi Gulati, Coordinator. She highlighted the recent accomplishments of DPS society and how we all work united for the future of our Dipsites.

This was followed by lighting of the lamp by Mrs. Rekha Aggarwala, Director Academics and Mrs. Geetha Vishwanathan, the Principal of the school followed by a devotional invocation dance. Children lit up the stage with their colourful attires and engaging dances. The skit weaved around the two boys who were trying to discover the mystical secrets of our nature. As they travelled from one magical land to another the nature awakened with butterflies fluttering, trees dancing, water trickling down from the sky. Children were incredible in emoting the musical drama of trees and their urge to live. The hardship of butterflies was presented with dazzling performance by the girls.

The ever-energetic boys took over the stage with their vibrant colours to make the never fading rainbow. While the rainbow was dazzling around, there were sea animals dancing around on the peppy beats.

The spectacular show ended with a ramp walk of different elements in nature. Each and every performer have come together to throw colour and make their stage a masterpiece. The audience were spell - bound seeing the children perform with so much confidence and enthusiasm. Everyone bowed to the lively performers.

All the students got off the buses safely and moved towards the entrance of the park. One would often hear that Sanjeevaiah park is an old park with nothing much to do or see. But when the students stepped into the park, the inside completely and totally astonished them. It was massive and there was so much to do! There were play areas, gardens, many trees to climb and the students didn’t know where to start. The class teachers took complete control of the bewildered kids and led them to their first stop – the rose garden. All the students were delighted to see the roses. Next stop was the butterfly park. Its rock garden and floral clock also captivated everyone. The students also went to see the National Flag fluttering at a height of 291feet and the flag itself is 108ft by 72ft in size. Theme of the Month – Little Designer “Art in the classroom not only spurs creativity, it also inspires learning” The theme for the month of January was “Little Designer”. It was chosen to bring out the hidden creative side of the children. Little designer was all about helping the children think out of the box in doing art and craft. At the outset, the children were briefed about what it is to be a designer, their actual work and the different themes they work on. They were exposed to the fact that how an architect designs a house and mason builds it and how a designer sketches a gown and tailor stitches it. Each class had taken up the work of designing a poster with patterns, wind chimes with hand prints, cute little attires for dolls, jewellery, photo frames, and wall murals. The children had a great time coming up with mix and match colours and shapes to make different patterns out of paper cutouts, finger-printing, origami, sponge dabbing, tear and paste, collage and palm prints. Entire Pre-primary wing was decorated with the beautiful creative work of the little designers of DPS Hyderabad presented artistically and aesthetically by the teachers. The little Dipsites were proud to see their work of art adorning the walls. Collectively the children learnt about how simple things can be made attractive with proper designs and colour combinations. It was overall a wonderful hands-on learning experience.
