7. Assembling DPP-350

7.1 Preparation of bottom cover

To the bottom cover (pos.13) is mounted USB PCB (pos.3) with the help of one screw2 õ 6 mm (pos.30) (fig. 33)

REMARK:

Plastic attachment (fig. 34) of printermechanism is removed taking carethat optron cable is not destroyed orcut.!

Optron (pos.ÎÏ1) is placed on inner side of printer mechanism’s attachment (pos.3)in a socket (pos.Ã1) and is glued with two drops of hot silicone (fig. 35)

Option (mounting of Bluetooth PCB)

REMARK:

Bluetooth PCB is mounted before the fixture of Main PCB and USBPCB!

First connect the cable between Bluetooth PCB and Main PCB(fig.32) respectively in CN7 of Main PCB (fig.58a) and connector CN2on Bluetooth PCB (fig.58b).

The cables are stuck consecutively through the slots named ÂÒ2, ÂÒ3, ÂÒ4 and ÂÒ5. - (fig.59a and fig. 59b).

Bluetooth PCB (pos.2) is installed in the right side of bottom coverin the slot shown on picture (fig.59a) between (pos.BT1à) and(pos.ÂÒ1á) (fig.59b).

7.2 Preparation of top cover Rubber cover for SD card (pos.12) is placed in the guides (pos.Â1)

on top cover (fig.60).

Righjt button (pos.9) and left button (pos.10) are placed in therespective nests on top cover (pos.14),after that the keyboard isadhered (pos.17) (fig.61).

Place the silicone plate (pos.23) and paper cutter (pos.20) and fixthem with three screws 2 õ 3 mm (pos.29) (fig.62).

Place the lightguide (pos.24) and with the help of a soldering ironmelt the two pegs so that it sticks (pos.Ô1). In the nest for the buzzer(pos.ÃÍ1) put a drop of hot silicone or instant fix glue - take care thatthe central hole is not blocked and put the ready buzzer (pos.1) (fig.63).

7.3 Closing of printer DPP-350 Connect the buzzer to connector CN9 on Main PCB (fig.66) and

connect the two covers (ôèã.67).

With four screws 2.5 õ 8 mm (pos.27) are fixed the two covers in themiddle and back side.

With another two screws 2.2 õ 9.5 mm (pos.26) are fixed the twocovers in the front side (fig.68).

Place the paper cover in the plae for itand close paper cover.

8. Testing Printer DPP-350

8.1 testing of charging of LiIon battery (7.4V/2000mAh)

Before the device assembly is tested the charging of LiIon battery.For this connect

••••• battery to connector CN4

••••• adapter 9V/1A, plugged in main supply, connector to CN5 (fig.71).

Lightguide LED1 on Main PCB starts to shine in red color and withthe help of multimeter measure the fall of resistor R29 – 0.15Ω. If isregistered voltage in the range from 10mV to 100mV (fig.72) and withan oscilloscope are registered oscillations at the output of the IC (inputof coil L1) , these should be with frequency and amplitude as shownon fig.73, (to be present), this means that the IC responsible for LiIonbattery charging works OK and battery is being charged with thenecessary current.

When battery is fully charged LED1 starts to shine in green!

8.2 Testing of buttons, buzzer and printer mechanism

The buzzer and printer mechanism are tested after the device isfully assembled.

For this purpose is started self test (diagnostic data) with the twobuttons on printer. :

−−−−− Press and hold button (LF) (fig.74).

−−−−− At the same time press button button (ON/OFF) (fig.75). After 1

sec. release (LF) button. The printer makes a noise and the ERRORLED lights in red (fig.76). After that diagnostic data is being printed(short self test) (fig.77).This is the end of test for buttons, buzzer and printer mechanism

REMARK:

Long self test is printed when the button (LF) ) is pressed andheld for 2 seconds! (fig.78)

8.3. Testing of RS232 communication

Printer’s RS232 communication is tested after the device is fuly assembled.

To do this enter in download mode - first press button (LF), then - button “ON/

OFF” and hold button (LF) for 10 seconds. Printer makes a continuous noisewhich means that DPP-350 is in “download” mode.

−−−−− Printer is connected to a PC with RS232 cable via RS232 interface (fig. 79).

−−−−− Start program LoadDPP350.exe, set COM-port to which is connected the cable.

−−−−− Choose file (e.g.DPP350.tsk) and press button DOWNLOAD in the program.If the printer’s firmware is downloaded successfully thenthe RS232

communication works OK.

8.4 Testing USB communication

Test is made with a Blackberry PDA, it is connected to printer DPP-350 with miniUSB cable (ô fig. 80) connected to mini USB port of printer.−−−−− When the Blackberry PDA is connected to the DPP-350 a noise is heard.

−−−−− When is started program Blackberry JavaSDKTest from its menu choose forinstance Print Long Test and the printer should print the Long Self Test data.

If this is done, this means that the USB communication of printer is working OK.

8.5 Testing of Bluetooth communicationTest is made with a Blackberry PDA , which must support Bluetooth communication and with a

switched on printer DPP-350.

REMARK:

Set switch 4 (SW4), so that the printer is in protocol mode (only for PDA Blackberry). Make self testto make sure that the printer is set in protocol mode (fig. 78)

−−−−− Set in OPTION,the Bluetooth communication of the PDA.

−−−−− Select ADD DEVICE, then the device should be discovered (as device DATECS DPP-350) from thePDA,password that must be input is ”0000”. Printer is added in the list of discovered devices thatsupport Bluetooth .−−−−− Start program Blackberry JavaSDKTest and from its menu select e.g. Print Long Test,then the Longself test should be printed.

If this is done this means that the Bluetooth communication of printer works OK.

8.6 testing of mag-stripe reader moduleTest is done with a Blackberry PDA device, which is connected to a switched on printer DPP-350 via

mini USB USB cable (fig.80) connected to the mini USB port of printer .−−−−− Start program Blackberry JavaSDKTest and from its menu select Read Card Tracks.

−−−−− Lightguide of Card Reader Module starts to blink in green, then swipe a 3-track magnetic card in thedirection shown on fig.81 .−−−−− Blackberry’s display should show the data that is read from the magnetic card tracks.(Track1,Track2,Track3).−−−−− Select yes from program’s menu.

−−−−− The printer will print the result of themagnetic card tracks read (fig. 82)If all the above is done as described this means that the magnetic card reader works OK.

8.7 Testing of smart card reader moduleTest is done with a Blackberry PDA device, which is connected to a switched on printer

DPP-350, via mini USB cable connected to the mini USB port of printer.−−−−− Insert a “smart” card in the Card reader module in the way and place as shown in fig. 83.−−−−− Start program Blackberry JavaSDKTest and from its menu select Reset Smart Card.

−−−−− The Blackberry’s display should show the data (in HEX code) from the card that is readafter RESET .

If all the above is done as described this means that the smart card reader works OK.

8.8 Testing of MiFARE contactless card reader moduleTest is done with a Blackberry PDA device, which is connected to a switched on printer

DPP-350, via mini USB cable connected to the mini USB port of printer.−−−−− Place a “Mifare” card infront of the Card Reader module as shown on fig.84 .

−−−−− Start program Blackberry JavaSDKTest and from its menu select Mifare Info.

−−−−− The Blackberry’s display should show data - state and serial number of the card read.

−−−−− Select button YES from program’s menu. Printer will print the result - data read fromcontactless card .

If all the above is done as described this means that the MiFARE card reader worksOK.

REMARK:THE TESTS DESCRIBED IN TEST 8.6, 8.7 and 8.8 can be run from a PC with thehelp of program CACUTIL.exe(use RS232 interface cable) in a way similar as it isdone with a PDA Blackberry!

REMARK:Tests 8.6, 8.7 and 8.8 can be run from a PC with the help of CACUTIL.exe or with aPDA Blackberry via Bluetooth interface!
